Breeding Report of A New Soybean Variety Jindou 40

Jindou 40 was a new variety with the traits of early-ripe, high yield and high quality that it was bred by crossing with the parental combination of Jindou 19/Fengdou 21 by Institute of Economic Crops, Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and was approved by Shanxi Crop Approval Commission in 2009. In 2007--2008, the average yield of Jindou 40 was 2 248.8 kg/hm^2 and 5.3% higher than of the check Jindou 25 in the early-ripe soybean of regional test in Shanxi province.The results showed that the growth period was 85-96 d, protein content was 40.61% and fat content was 20.66%. The variety resists downy mildew and soybean virus disease. It is suitable to plant in the multiple cropping with wheat stubble in middle of Shanxi, the spring seeding in northern area of Shanxi province, and the similar area.
