Abstract:Barnacle Amphibalanus(=Balanus)amphitrite is a typical marine fouling organism.Under the guidance of the external signal,barnacle cyprids find a suitable site for their settlement and metamorphosis.In this study,the effects of four monosaccharides Man,Xyl,Glc,and Fuc,which were preliminarily found with inductive effect on the settlement of cyprids,were studied by orthogonal test.The results showed that the optimal combination of monosaccharides was Man(5.00×10^-8 mol/L),Glc(1.25×10^-8 mol/L),Xyl(1.25×10^-8 mol/L),and Fuc(1.90×10^-7 mol/L).The influence of four monosaccharides from high to low was Man>Fuc>Glc>Xyl,and the effects of Man,Fuc and Glc were significant,while Xyl had little effect on larval settlement.The addition of monosaccharide not only affected the settlement rate of cyprids,but also significantly shortened the time course of larval settlement.
