Development and existing problems of rice-crab culture in China

In the 1980 s,the concept of comprehensive cultivation of paddy fields began to be proposed.With the development of science and technology,more and more integrated farming models of rice fields have been explored in practice and rice-crab culture is an innovation and exploration that belongs to comprehensive cultivation of paddy fields.Rice-crab culture are distributed at all over the world,but China have the largest culture area and production,and the technology is still in a leading position.We review the key points of ricecrab culture,and provide some exploration of local models to provide a new perspective for the theoretical innovation.Rice-crab culture has a significant impact on soil physical and chemical properties,water quality and biodiversity in the paddy field environment.However,the exploration of new models will always encounter some problems,such as the lack of suitable crab seedlings and rice seeds,and the breeding standards are not uniform.The key points of rice-crab culture technique were reviewed and some exploration of local models were provided in the paper to offer a new perspective for the theoretical innovation and a theoretical basis for the promotion of rice-crab culture.
