Abstract:Summary In physiologically young plants (Solanum tuberosum L., cv. Sebago), abscisic acid (ABA) and chlorethyltrimethylammonium chloride (CCC) promoted tuberization at day/night temperatures of 32°/18°C, but not at 32°/28°C, in contrast to earlier experiments with physiologically old plants. Disbudding promoted tuberization at both temperatures. These results suggest that physiologically young plants have a greater capacity for increased gibberelling synthesis in the buds at high temperatures.
