| Abstract: | Effects of clenbuterol on animal behaviors,electrocardiogram,serum cortisol andcorticosterone levels were observed in 196 meat type ducks.Three levels of clenbuterol,0.5,1.0 and3.0ppm,introduced to the diet of ducks for 20 days,abnormal behaviors and mortality of animals havebeen shown after transportation.As the increases of dosage of clenbuterol added to the feed of ducks, heartrate,amplitude of T waves and levels of serum cortisol and cortocosterone were significantly increased.There was a marked positive correlation between them.The results suggest that clenbuterol(3.0 ppm)en-hance the sensitivity of ducks in response to stressors(transportation).It seems likely that the dose and spanof using clenbuterol play a key role in the productive performance in ducks. |
