STABILITY OF VERTICILLIUM DAHLIAE KLEB IN PATHOGENICITY

The pathogenicities of strains of V.dahliae including177 monosporeprogenies of 4 stains,different morphological type variants,and somestrains treated by different methods,were compared in greenhouse bydipping the cotton roots in suspensions of the fungus.The virulencewas similar as their parents in all wild type (type A) strains,but wasreduced in some of fluffy mycelial type (type B) variants,and wasalmost absent in appressed mycelial type (type C) variants.The wildtype strains could remain original virulence even they were transplantedmany times on media or inoculated many times on cotton varieties ofdifferent resistance.The relationship between culture types andoathogenicity was discussed.
