STUDIES ON THE BLOOD GROUPINGS OF CHICKENS VI. Analyses of interline population relationships of Beijing White laying hens
Abstract:Ten lines of 76-week old laying hens were used for examining the blood groups. The results are summarized as follows: 1 . The blood group genie factors of higher distribution frequency in the same line between different genie factors or within the same genie factor of different lines were all significant ( P<0.01 ) .This would mean that genetic constitutions of these flocks are different from each other. 2 . The genetic distance between Beijing White Leghorn Line II and Line III was larger than that between Line I and Line II. The coefficient of homozygosity of blood group genie factor of Line II was the highest. 3 . The heterosis percentages of total egg mass production at 76-week of age of Line II male×Line III female and Line II male(inbred cock)×Line III female were 3.8% and 7.4% respectively, whereas the heterosis percentage of Line I male×Line II female was negative. 4. The imformation obtained both from the principal component analysis of eight economic traits and From the population genetic analysis of blood group genie factors were identical. The above results suggested tkat immunogenetics and quantitative genetics research results may be applied to the selected mating of parents in laying hen breeding.
