| Abstract: | Der Besuch der alten Dame is an important drama of Dürrenmatt. It blends elements of trag?edy and comedy to depict a world, which is composed of grotesque, and leadsto the grotesque at thesame time. An individual is desperate in this world, thus he is unable to resist and must fail. The gro?tesqueness of the world and the defeat of the individual present the tragedy of this work. |
