Abstract:Maize cercospora leaf spot disease,caused by Cercospora zeae-maydis Tehon﹠Da-niels,has recently become a major disease in maize production in China.Based on its symptoms and occurrence and the characteristics of the pathogenic fungus,integrated control measures were proposed,of which breeding and promotion of disease-resistant varieties was considered the most effective way.Of maize germplasm in China,PA group germplasm was not resistant to maize cercospora leaf spot disease,while PB group germplasm was.Maize breeding in the future work should strengthen innovative research and exploration of maize germplasm with resistance genes to cercospora leaf spot disease.
