Abstract:In order to investigate the effects of copper mining tailings on root growth of an ornamental plant,M.antigua and to provide experimental basis for copper mine reclamation,the tailings were amended with sludge and applied to the study plant in pots.The tailings and sludge were mixed at a mass ratio of 100∶0,75∶25,50∶50,25∶75 and 0∶100,labeled as S100y00,S75y25,S50y50,S25y75 and S00y100,respectively.The result demonstrated that,with increasing proportion of sludge in the compound medium,the length of M.antigua taproots grew,and the root volume and belowground biomass increased gradually.Copper was accumulated primarily in the roots of M.antigua.There was significant difference between the aboveground and belowground parts regarding to copper accumulation.
