| 摘 要： | 通过大量例证从新的角度重新探讨什么是委婉语及其社会作用。委婉语就是间接的、好听的、美化后的语言。在英语中应用委婉语能起到安慰、宽容、欺骗、建设、讽刺、嘲弄等多方面的功效,从而可以更好地增强这一语言的表达效果。
