The survey and finallization of long-distance oil pipeline is very important in the design and construction of oil pipeline. The navigation-based GPS is an effective tool of navigation and location in the route reconnaissance and design of pipeline. In the project of Sudan oil pipeline construction,the navigation-based GPS has been successfully used in the route reconnaissance,route finallization and record of control point's longitude/latitude. This kind of GPS can provide a high quality and accuracy in the selection and finallization of pipeline route,and on the other hand,it is very helpful for the survey crew to avoid getting lost in the desert.
