On Derivations of SOV in English and Chinese

SVO is actually a derivation of the hase - generated SOV, motivated by Checking Theory. In English the checking process is triggered by the uninterpreted features, while in Chinese the process is motivated by the functional T. When T is strong, the verb is absorbed to the[AgrS] to have its features checked and SVO is derived: while SOV survives as T is weak and not strong enough to absorb the verb to the [AgrS ] position. T has to be lowered to merge with the verband the appearance of a tense auxiliary is obligatory.
