Abstract:If one connects teleonomy and teleology with growth, then self-sustaining growth is teleonomie and maturing growth is teleologie. Teleonomie growth happens throughout the lifetime as a direct consequence of active metabolism. Teleologie growth ends with propagation maturity which would not happen without metabolism, but is an indirect activity of the cells. This until now neglected differentiation leads to new conclusions about the beginning of life.
