A model for oxygen consumption of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) based on measurements of individual fish in a tunnel respirometer |

| Abstract: | A model for oxygen consumption of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) including body-weight (BW, kg), temperature (T, °C) and swimming speed (U, bodylengths s?1) was developed. A multiregression analysis of 157 measurement periods on six different fish gave the model: (mg kg?1 h?1)=61.6(±6.6) BW?0.33(±0.11) 1.03(±0.10)T1.79(±0.10)U. The model is compared with earlier work on oxygen consumption of salmonids. |
