Abstract:Duck viral hepatitis(DVH)is a highly contagious and fatal disease in ducklings.Duck hepatitis A virus(DHAV)is a major etiological agent and DHAV-1 is widely prevalent in many provinces of China.Two strains of DHAV-1 were isolated in 2018 from a sick duck farm in Shandong province and characterized for their molecular biology,sequences,phylogenetic tree and pathogenicity.The isolated two strains were inoculated into duck embryos and virus titers were determined with a fluorescence assay.Then,SPF ducklings were infected with these two strains and pathological changes were observed in tissues.As a result,SD37 strain caused 100%deaths and SD63 strain had 12.5%mortality.The results of the present study provided a basis for future research on molecular epidemiology and control of DHAV-1 in China.
