A study of kernel oils of some cultivated cucurbits

Abstract:Oil content of the seed-kernels of 15 species ofCucurbitaceae family has been estimated. It ranged from 37.9 to 56.5%. The iodine values of the oils were from 87.8 to 149.9. Most of these oils were nearly colourless, odourless and of good appearance. The oil-free kernel meals of different cucurbit species had protein content ranging from 60 to 70%.
