Abstract:The development of transgenic  soybean  is of importance for enhancing market competitiveness of soybean industry in China,strengthening national food security and increasing farmers income by adjusting farming systems, decreasing productioncost, improving economic returns, and promoting science and technology advancement. China has owned a firm technical basisand adequate social atmosphere for the research and development of transgenic soybean. By using its own technologicalachievements and drawing on the experience of other countries, China should speed up the development of new transgenicsoybean varieties,  place emphasis on the breeding of cost-reducing, quality-improving, and resource-saving varieties torealize the industrialization of transgenic soybean in the near future.
