Abstract:Concurrent infection of a raccoon by rabies and canine distemper viruses is described. Fluorescent antibody (FA) test demonstrated rabies antigen in the brain of this animal, however, histologically only lesions characteristic of canine distemper infection were seen. We recommend testing tissues for rabies of animals that histologically are positive for canine distemper.
