Summary The performance of Parthenium hysterophorus , native to the tropical Americas and invasive to several countries, was evaluated for response to soil quality. Phenological (six stages) and quantitative growth variables [relative growth rates in height (Rh) and diameter (Rd)] were measured every fortnight. Based on harvest data, the variables, root:shoot (R:S) ratio, specific leaf area (SLA), relative growth rate in biomass (Rw), net assimilation rate (NAR) and dry matter allocation to plant components, were determined. High clay content in soils prolonged the rosette stage, enhanced Rh and Rd and hampered root growth, but promoted biomass allocation to shoots. The extreme degree of plant mortality was observed, with only 33.3% individuals surviving to reproduce in the soils with highest clay contents. This appears to be one of the most important findings that certainly has a major bearing on the range of adaptation of the weed. Seed mass declined whereas seed production increased in relatively coarser soils with the exception of nearly pure sand. In soils rich in clay, plants produced a smaller number of larger seeds. These data suggest that variation in fundamental functional traits would enable P. hysterophorus to adjust to a variety of habitat conditions.  相似文献

AIM: To explore interaction and biological behaviour changes of two kinds of cells-blastocysts and hepatocarcinoma cells in the same microenvironment. METHODS:The models of mouse blastocysts co-cultured with human hepatocarcinoma cell lines were established, then biological behaviours and mutual effects of the two kinds of cells in co-culture system were observed. RESULTS: Compared with control group, hepatocarcinoma cells with differently invasive and metastatic potential significantly enhanced the rates of blastocyst hatchment , attachment and outgrowth(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in those among hepatocarcinoma cells co-cultured groups (P>0.05). The blastocyst hatched and attached to hepatocarcinoma cells with differently invasive and metastatic potential. Then, differential trophoblasts invaded hepatocarcinoma cells. The clear-cut interfaces were gradually formed between both sides. Hepatocarcinoma cells on interface showed changes of growth direction and cell shapes and did not invade blastocysts. CONCLUSIONS: Hepatocarcinoma cells promoted blastocyst development. Blastocysts implanted and invaded hepatocarcinoma cells with differently invasive and metastatic potential in vitro, which indicate that blastocyst implantation in vitro does not relate with the kinds and differential level of interactional cells and the low selectivity maybe relate with high adaptability of early life.  相似文献

AIM: To investigate the anti-metastasis effect of weimaining, extracted from fragopyrum cymosum meissn, a Chinese medicine, on murine Lewis lung carcinoma (3LL). METHODS: The anti-metastasis effect of weimaining in vivo was detected in the grafting lung metastasis model of murine Lewis lung carcinoma. The effects of the drug on the expression of CD34 and E-cadherin were investigated by immunohistochemical staining and RT-PCR. RESULTS: Weimaining effectively inhibited the lung metastasis of 3LL at a concentration of 250 mg·kg-1·d-1, significantly suppressed the expression of CD34 and increased the expression levels of E-cadherin protein and mRNA in 3LL cells. CONCLUSIONS: Weimaining inhibits the metastasis of murine Lewis lung carcinoma (3LL) in vivo via increasing the expression of E-cadherin and decreasing microvessel density of tumor tissue.  相似文献

AIM: To assess the effect of indomethacin on tumor invasion in a human laryngeal cancer Hep-2 cell line in vitro. METHODS: Hep-2 cells were exposed to indomethacin at different concentrations for 48 h. Then cell growth rate, the colony formation in soft agar medium and cell mobility were examined, and monolayer invasion assay was performed to assess cell invasion index. RESULTS: Preteatment with indomethacin inhibited the colony formation of Hep-2 cells and the cell mobility, and decreased the invasion index. CONCLUSION: Indomethacin can inhibit the invasion of Hep-2 cells.  相似文献

Evolution of flooding tolerance in weedy rice has occurred in several rice-growing regions, but the genes related to this process and the environmental effects are unknown. The objective of this study was to analyse the expression of genes related to flooding tolerance in response to temperature and flooding during the initial establishment of weedy rice. The experiments were carried out with rice cultivars IRGA 417 and Nipponbare, which are sensitive to flooding, and weedy rice ITJ03 and AV04 genotypes that have high and intermediate tolerance to flooding, respectively. The expression of genes related to reserve mobilisation, anaerobic respiration, escape and quiescence strategies was analysed at periods up to 24 days after sowing. The flooding tolerance of weedy rice genotype ITJ03 was associated with the expression of RAmy3D and OsTPP7 , which are involved in the mobilisation of carbohydrate reserves, ADH1 and ADH2, which participate in anaerobic respiration, and SNRKL1 that triggers rapid elongation of the coleoptile and emergence. Although the genes PDC1, SUS3 and SUB1 are important for flooding tolerance in cultivated rice, their expression was not directly related to flooding tolerance in weedy rice. A temperature of 20°C reduced levels of expression of the RAmy3D, ADH2 and SNRKL1 genes and low temperature had a negative effect on the establishment of weedy rice. Breeding of rice genotypes with tolerance of low temperatures and anaerobic conditions may be a viable strategy to improve the control of weedy rice in paddy fields.  相似文献

随着全球贸易的加速发展,入侵物种对农林业、生态环境及人类健康的威胁日益严重。基因组学研究为阐明外来有害生物入侵的分子机制与生态适应性过程以及研发新型防控技术提供了新手段、新平台与大数据。本文综述了入侵昆虫基因组学研究的发展现状,系统总结了基因/基因家族、转座子/重复序列等基因组信息在决定昆虫入侵性中的重要作用,着力探讨了基因组学研究在助力害虫RNAi、昆虫不育技术(SIT)、化学生态防治和物理防治等防控新技术/新产品开发方面的潜力,并展望了基因组学研究应用于入侵昆虫综合防控的前景。  相似文献

AIM: To observe the influence of gold nanoparticles combined with Endostar (AuNPs-Endostar) on the melanoma lung metastasis of mice and the underlying mechanism. METHODS: C57BL/6 mice (n=24) were selected for constructing the model of spontaneous lung metastasis of melanoma B16-F10 cells. Subsequently, the mice were randomly divided into Endostar group, AuNPs group, AuNPs-Endostar group and model group. After the formation of melanoma, the mice in each group were injected with different drugs through tail vein for 0.1 mL daily. After 9 d, the mice were narcotized for cutting the tumors in situ. After the operation, they were raised for 2 weeks before killed for obtaining the lung tissues to observe the situation of the metastasis. HE staining was utilized for observing the necrosis status of the tumors in situ, while immunostaining was applied for testing the expression of CD31, carbonic anhydrase-IX (CA-IX), vimentin and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) in the tumors. RESULTS: Compared with model group, the pulmonary metastasis in the groups with medical treatment was obviously reduced. In AuNPs-Endostar group, the metastasis inhibition rate was the highest, and the tumor necrosis was also decreased obviously, with the significant reduction of CD31, CA-IX and vimentin expression in the tumors and significant increase in ZO-1 expression. CONCLUSION: Compared with using Endostar or AuNPs alone, the combination of AuNPs with Endostar significantly improves the curative effect of inhibiting the pulmonary metastasis of melanoma in the mice. The mechanism may be related to reducing the tumor angiogenesis, norma-lizing the blood vessels and improving tumor hypoxia, thus inhibiting the tumor epithelial-mesenchymal transition, increasing the tight junctions between tumor cells and decreasing the invasiveness.  相似文献

AIM: To investigate the relationship between the expression of estrogen receptor α36 (ER-α36) and the invasion of gastric cancer cells. METHODS: SGC7901 cells were treated with 17β-estradiol at high or low concentration. The invasion of gastric cancer cells and the expression of ER-α36 were detected. The SGC7901 cells with the characteristics of stable low expression and high expression of ER-α36 were constructed. The invasion ability and microRNA sequences were determined in above-mentioned recombinant cells. RESULTS: The decreased invasion ability and ER-α36 expression were detected in SGC7901 cells treated with low concentration of 17β-estradiol. The situation was the opposite in the cells treated with high concentration of 17β-estradiol. The expression of miR-143 was significantly decreased in the SGC7901 cells with stable high expression of ER-α36 and was increased in the SGC7901 cells with stable low expression of ER-α36. CONCLUSION: The expression of ER-α36 is positively related to the invasion of gastric cancer cells. It is possible that miR-143 plays an important role in the regulation of gastric cancer invasion.  相似文献

AIM:To investigate the expression of mitogen activated protein kinase kinase 4 (MKK-4) and MMP-9 mRNA in primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC), and to analyze its relationship with invasion and metastasis. METHODS:The expression of MKK-4 and MMP-9 mRNA in 34 cases of hepatic carcinoma tissues and adjacent tissues,and in 12 cases of normal liver tissues were detected with RT-PCR. RESULTS:(1) The expression level of MMP-9 mRNA was higher in metastatic cancer tissues than that in other tissuses (P<0.01). (2) There was significant statistical difference among the expression level of MKK-4 mRNA, but the level in metastatic cancer was low (P<0.01). (3) There was no statistical difference among the expression level of MKK-4 or MMP-9 mRNA among the adjacent tissues and normal tissues (P>0.05). (4) MMP-9 mRNA had a tendency to rise as PHC became invasive and metastatic.The expression level of MKK-4 had a tendency to decline in PHC became invasive and metastatic. (5) The expression level of MMP-9 or MKK-4 mRNA had no correlations with tumor volume,or cell differentiation (P>0.05). (6) There were correlations between expressions of MKK-4 and MMP-9 mRNA in PHC (Pearson Correlation, r=-0.925, P<0.01). CONCLUSION:There are high MMP-9 mRNA expression and low MKK-4 mRNA expression in PHC.The expression level of MKK-4 or MMP-9 mRNA is correlated with tumor metastasis.  相似文献
