The presentation, diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and 5 years follow-up of a 12-year-old Arabian-Saddlebred cross gelding with neck pain and stiffness, attributable to a fracture of the third cervical vertebrae (C3), is described. Initial cervical spinal radiographs revealed a concave defect in the ventral aspect of the cranial end plate of C3. However, both this finding and ultrasonographic imaging of the area were inconclusive for a fracture. Nuclear scintigraphy revealed that the lesion was metabolically active, prompting computed tomographic imaging that revealed a fracture of C3. Sequential radiographs documented progressive fusion of C2-C3 and no neurological deficits developed over the 5 years after the injury. Cervical vertebral injuries in horses can lead to various clinical signs including ataxia, weakness, and neck stiffness or pain. Diagnosis with cervical radiographs alone can be challenging and, in some cases as the horse in this report, multiple imaging modalities may be required to establish a definitive diagnosis. Computed tomographic images of the neck, thorax and abdomen in four healthy adult rabbits were obtained with a conventional CT using a slice-thickness of 5 mm. CT images were obtained with the animals positioned in sternal recumbency on a removable plastic support directly laying on the CT-table. At the end of the CT session, each rabbit was euthanized and, while carefully maintaining the same position on the plastic support, the animal was moved into a −20 °C freezer until completely frozen. Each cadaver was then sectioned at 10 mm slices, with the first section starting at the tip of the nose, respecting the imaging protocol. The frozen sections were cleaned and then photographed on each side. Anatomic structures were identified and labeled first on each side of the frozen section and then on the corresponding CT image with the aid of the available literature. Results from our study provide an atlas of normal cross-sectional gross and CT anatomy of the rabbit neck, thorax and abdomen, useful in the interpretation of any cross-sectional imaging modality in this species. 相似文献

Signs related to spinal pain are commonly reported in dogs with noninfectious, nonerosive, idiopathic immune-mediated polyarthritis (IMPA). This study examined the prevalence and etiology of spinal pain in these dogs through a retrospective review of 62 case records of dogs with IMPA. All dogs with IMPA and signs suggestive of spinal pain were described with regard to age, gender, breed, physical stature, location of vertebral pain, rectal temperature, and clinical laboratory findings. The prevalence of spinal pain in these dogs was 29% (18 of 62). Fourteen of the 18 dogs with spinal pain and IMPA were male. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from 11 dogs with signs of spinal pain was analyzed. Five of these (46%) had concurrent steroid-responsive meningitis-arteritis (SRMA). We concluded that SRMA does occur concurrently in some dogs having IMPA. Meningeal involvement may explain the origin of spinal pain observed in some of these dogs. 相似文献

采用温室人工接菌法探讨水稻稻瘟病苗瘟、叶瘟和穗颈瘟的相关性,研究结果表明,稻瘟病苗瘟、叶瘟和穗颈瘟三者之间存在着一定的正相关性,相关程度因水稻品种、稻瘟病菌生理小种的不同而有所差异。此外,对水稻品种温室苗瘟抗性率与田间叶瘟抗性率、穗颈瘟抗性率之间的相关性进行研究,结果表明温室苗瘟抗性率与自然病圃叶瘟抗性率表现正相关关系(r=0.5435),温室苗瘟抗性率与自然病圃穗颈瘟抗性率表现极显著正相关关系(r=0.7583**,p<0.01),自然病圃叶瘟抗性率与穗颈瘟抗性率呈显著正相关关系(r=0.6322*,p<0.05)。因此,认为利用可控温室代替田间进行水稻品种稻瘟病抗性鉴定是可行的,而且根据苗瘟、叶瘟的抗性鉴定结果推测穗颈瘟的抗性基本上也是可行的。 相似文献

为了解控制小麦穗颈长的遗传位点,以西藏半野生小麦Q1028与郑麦9023(ZM9023)杂交后所构建的重组自交系(RIL)群体为材料,于2011、2012、2013和2014年分别在四川农业大学温江试验田种植,对其穗颈长进行遗传分析。结果表明,群体内穗颈长呈正态分布,符合数量遗传的特点。在四年环境中,总共检测到4个控制穗颈长的QTL位点,分布于3A、5A和6B染色体上,贡献率为7.55%~11.44%。位于6B染色上wPt-669607~wPt-5480标记之间的QTL位点在三年环境中被稳定检测到。同时,四年环境下穗颈长与株高都呈显著正相关(P0.01),而仅在一年环境中与穗长呈显著正相关(P0.01),与小穗数、穗粒数、穗粒重、千粒重、粒长和粒宽无显著相关性(P0.05)。本研究鉴定的QTL为分子标记辅助选育穗茎长度适中的小麦品系及其进一步的精细定位奠定了基础。 相似文献

Rice blast (Magnaporthe
oryzae) is the most destructive and epidemic disease of rice. Use of host resistance is the best alternative for disease management.
The leaf and neck blast resistance of 182 rice breeding lines were assessed for leaf and neck blast and classified relative
to a susceptible check-Masuli and resistant check-Laxmi, from greenhouse experiment in 2005 and 2006. The test plants were
inoculated with 105 conidial suspension/ml of M. oryzae at 21 days old seedlings for the leaf blast, and at neck base for the neck blast. Among them, for leaf blast, 77 rice lines
were resistant, 43 were moderately resistant, 39 were moderately susceptible and 23 were susceptible. While among the selected
31 rice lines evaluated for neck blast, 4 lines were resistant, 4 were moderately resistant, 16 were moderately susceptible
and 7 were susceptible. Leaf and neck infection was significant and positively correlated (r = 0.30, P = 0.05). The rice lines, Barkhe 1032, Barkhe 1034, Barkhe 1035, Barkhe 1036, Barkhe 2014, Barkhe 2024, Barkhe 3019, Super
3004 were resistant to leaf blast and Barkhe 1006, Barkhe 1032, Barkhe 1035, Barkhe 3004 were resistant to neck blast. The
rice lines with identification # 11, 69, 137, 168, 182 from Masuli × MT4 parentage, and Barkhe 3017 were susceptible to both
leaf and neck blast. Progenies of Irradiated Pusa Basmati (IPB), Kalinga III/IR64 (KIII/IR64), and Masuli/IR64 were resistant
to both leaf and neck blast. However, most progenies from Masuli/MT4 showed susceptible reaction to both leaf and neck blast.
Thus, rice lines form the IPB, KIII/IR64 and Masuli/IR64 will be promising resistant sources for rice blast in breeding programme. 相似文献
