We examined the interannual variation in Neocalanus copepod biomass in the Oyashio waters in spring and summer from 1972 to 1999. In the mid‐1970s, mesozooplankton biomass in spring was high; however, it decreased significantly in the late 1970s. The timing of the decrease in mesozooplankton biomass corresponded to the 1976/77 climatic regime shift. The biomass of N. flemingeri, which dominated the Neocalanus community, was roughly constant from 1980 to 1999. Although species‐level estimates of Neocalanus biomass were not available for the 1970s, a previous study reported that Neocalanus copepods were the predominant mesozooplankton in the Oyashio waters in spring during the 1970s. Neocalanus copepods dominated the mesozooplankton community throughout the 1970s, and their biomass decreased in the late 1970s. Springtime net community production, an index of new production, also decreased in the late 1970s. We suggest that the reduction in new production negatively affected Neocalanus food availability, resulting decreased copepod biomass. New production may have been limited by a combination of subsurface iron supplies, increased vertical density gradient, and reduced vertical water mixing in winter, which resulted in diminished iron entrainment in winter. In summer, mesozooplankton biomass significantly decreased and increased synchronously with the 1976/77 and 1988/89 climatic regime shifts. The biomass of N. plumchrus, which dominated the Neocalanus community, was low in the 1980s and increased in the early 1990s. The biomass of the second‐most dominant copepod, N. cristatus, also increased in the early 1990s. Neocalanus copepods were reported to be a dominant component of the mesozooplankton community in the 1970s; Neocalanus biomass was high in the mid‐1970s and decreased in the late 1970s. Japanese sardine (Sardinops melanostictus), an important predator of Neocalanus copepods, exhibited interannual variation in standing stock that was inversely related to mesozooplankton biomass. At their peak in 1984, sardines consumed 32–138% of the daily Neocalanus production during summer. Therefore, predation pressure on Neocalanus by Japanese sardine is likely to affect interannual variation in mesozooplankton biomass during the summer.  相似文献

The forest planning system of large Swedish forest owners follows a three step procedure: long-term, medium-term, and short-term planning. The system is sequential and hierarchical in the sense that longer-term plans form the framework for shorter-term plans, and that top-level management prepares the long range plans and the lower management levels develop plans with successively shorter horizons. Studies indicate that this approach does not fully use existing knowledge within the organization. Problems associated with the top-down approach are also recognized in the general literature on organization and management. A proposal for a bottom-up approach is developed that aim at the use of local level knowledge to enhance accuracy and applicability of the forest plans. After top-level management has issued some fundamental planning directives, medium-term planning is conducted by the districts. Then the district plans are consolidated at the top-level for coordination and revision. A simulated planning process provides an illustration of the approach. The Heureka system is used here to optimize harvests and road costs with a mixed integer programming model of the problem, spanning 10 years with three seasons per year. The importance of detailed local knowledge to the outcome of planning is indicated, and needs for continued decision support systems development is discussed.  相似文献

Aim of the present research is to investigate the effect of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) on soil food webs (microbes, nematodes and microarthropods) trophic interactions in agriculture ecosystems. A complete randomized block design experiment of N and P fertilization was initiated in 2010 with four treatments: (1) P-addition, (2) N-addition, (3) NP-addition and (4) control. After 4 years of fertilization, compared with control, N-addition had a negative effect on microarthropods and clarify indirectly by significantly (< 0.05) increasing soil total nitrogen (0.37 g kg?1) and available nitrogen (20.03 mg kg?1). The reduction in microarthropods resulted significant (< 0.05) increase in bacterivores and fungivores feeding on bacteria and fungi, an example of top-down control. P-addition had indirect negative effects on microarthropods by means of significantly (< 0.05) increasing soil total phosphorus (0.62 g kg?1) and available phosphorus (24.17 mg kg?1), aggravated fungivores feeding on fungi and strengthened top-down control. NP-addition significantly (< 0.05) increased total microbial biomass, nematodes and microarthropods and resulted in bottom-up control. These results suggested that top-down effects were the dominant force in N- or P-addition treatments. NP-addition strengthened bottom-up control by enriching food resource. Unbalance fertilization could pose adverse on agricultural soil ecosystem and yield potential of crops.  相似文献

Inland fisheries managers must account for multiple competing uses for aquatic resources; using methods such as ecosystem-based management allows for different priorities for aquatic ecosystems to be accounted for. Declining abundance of kokanee salmon Oncorhynchus nerka (Walbaum) in Arrow Lakes Reservoir in the 1990s led to the use of large-scale nutrient addition to improve productivity of kokanee and large piscivores. However, it is unclear what effect these measures had on the system given high discharge and highly variable annual flow regime throughout the watershed. An Ecopath with Ecosim model of the ecosystem was fitted to the available data and used to predict ecosystem structure and reservoir objectives under different nutrient addition strategies and varying annual flow regimes. Results from the model indicate that nutrient addition is an important driver in the system, with lower flows resulting in higher biomass for higher trophic levels. Decision analysis demonstrated the importance of maintaining nutrient additions to achieve management objectives despite losses in some high-flow years.  相似文献

Clustering algorithm based on wavelet transform is efficient, and which can detect clusters of arbitrary shape. It is insensitive to the outliers and the order of input data. However, efficiency of the algorithm would be degraded, and computation complexity of the algorithm would be considerable with increase of clustering dimensions. A bottom-u Pmethod is put forward to make the original algorithm fit to clustering in high dimension, and the scalability of the improved algorithm is enhanced by parallelization. The experiment demonstrates that the improved algorithm has no impact on quality of clustering and has a good efficient in high dimension clustering and in decrease of comnutation comnlexity.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to establish an operational model of productive work time per tree (work efficiency) for high-pruning of young European beech and pedunculate oak depending on tree species, pruning height, branch characteristics, pole saw type and operator. The final model included all of these independent variables with branch characteristics specified in terms of number of live branches and cross-sectional area of the thickest branch at the cut. Work time increased with increasing values of each of the three numeric variables. For a given pruning height the size of the largest branch was for all practical purposes more influential than the number of live branches. Beech took 28% longer to prune than oak. The German Ergo-Schnitt saw was 21% slower than the Japanese Silky Hayauchi saw. The variation in worker performance within our study was larger than that attributed to tree species and pruning equipment.  相似文献

Mixed cultivation of fast-growing grasses and nitrogen (N)-fixing legumes for forage production is widely considered effective for obtaining sustained high forage yields without depleting soil N levels. However, the effects of monoculture and mixed culture of these species on soil food webs are poorly understood. In this study, soil nematode communities were examined as indicators of the soil food web structure of monoculture and mixed culture of grass and legume at three N levels, i.e., 338 (low), 450 (moderate), and 675 (high) kg N ha-1 year-1, across 2 years in wet and dry seasons, using the grass Paspalum wetsfeteini and the legume Medicago sativa (alfalfa), both commonly cultivated worldwide. Repeated-measures analysis of covariance showed that compared with grass monoculture, legume monoculture and grass-legume mixture increased abundances of herbivorous, bacterivorous, and fungivorous nematodes in the soil food web under the low and moderate N fertilization levels. Principal response curve results showed that the abundance of Helicotylenchus, a plant parasite, was significantly higher under legume monoculture than other planting systems at the low N fertilization level. Structural equation model analysis indicated that the legume increased bacterivore abundance, while increasing N fertilization decreased omnivore abundance. The legume might increase the quantity and quality of food resources for soil biota, resulting in the bottom-up control of soil nematode communities. Our results indicate that targeted control of a soilborne pathogen, Helicotylenchus, is required in alfalfa-based planting systems. In addition, high inorganic N application, which is detrimental to legume-rhizobia symbiosis, nullified the otherwise positive effects of legumes on soil nematodes.  相似文献

European eel decline is now widely observed and involves a large number of factors such as overfishing, pollution, habitat loss, dam construction, river obstruction, parasitism and environmental changes. In the present study, we analyzed the influence of environmental conditions in the Sargasso Sea and Atlantic ocean circulation on European glass eel recruitment success. Over a recent 11‐yr period, we showed a strong positive correlation between an original index of glass eel recruitment and primary production (PP) in eel spawning area. Moreover, PP was negatively correlated with temperature in the Sargasso Sea. Therefore, we used sea temperature as an inverse proxy of marine production. A close negative relationship has been found over the last four decades between long‐term fluctuations in recruitment and in sea temperature. These findings were reinforced by the detection of a regime shift in sea temperature that preceded the start of the decline in glass eel recruitment in the early 1980s. By contrast, variations in integrative indices measuring ocean circulation, i.e. latitude and strength of the Gulf Stream, did not seem to explain variations in glass eel recruitment. Our results support the hypothesis of a strong bottom‐up control of leptocephali survival and growth by PP in the Sargasso Sea on short and long time scales. We argue that sea warming in the eel spawning area since the early 1980s has modified marine production and eventually affected the survival rate of European eels at early life stages.  相似文献

运用实验生态学的方法,以阳光工厂化生物絮凝养殖前期水为实验材料,分别探究去细菌捕食者(原生动物等,AC组)、带虾序批添加葡萄糖(GS组)和一次性添加葡萄糖(G组)对水中微食物环的细菌及浮游生物的影响。结果表明,GS组在120 h的轮虫生物量、浮游植物生物量和叶绿素a含量都显著高于对照组(P0. 05)和而G组的轮虫生物量、浮游植物生物量在整个实验过程中与对照组无显著性差异(P 0. 05),因此序批式添加葡萄糖的上行效应比一次性添加更加明显,并且添加大型捕食者的GS组的下行效应不明显。实验组和对照组细菌总数都大于5×10~5个/mL,AC组的细菌总数峰值最高[(13. 10±3. 79)×10~5个/mL],去细菌捕食者后降低了对细菌的捕食压力从而促进了细菌生长。AC组的溶解性有机碳浓度和溶解性总氮浓度一直高于其他组,GS组、G组和对照组的溶解性有机碳、溶解性总氮和磷酸盐浓度的变化趋势基本一致,杀死细菌捕食者释放了大量溶解性有机物,添加适量葡萄糖、投放虾对养殖水质无明显影响。研究结果为阳光型生物絮凝养殖在生产应用上的调控手段提供基础依据。  相似文献
