地被菊花粉萌发及花粉活力的研究

用ME的盐类和维生素附加16％聚乙二醇4000(PEG4000)和15％蔗糖对野菊及新红、塞旗红、玫瑰红的花粉进行培养。结果表明，萌发率分别为80．2％、85．3％、61．3％和46．5％。PE‰对菊花萌发有明显促进作用。但庶糖的作用不能被PEG所取代。菊花花粉萌发较合适的温度为10-20℃，在4-8℃时，萌发率及速度迅速降低，35℃萌发虽快。但花粉管短且破裂。在4℃条件下花粉可贮藏4-14d。但不宜干燥贮藏。

有人说战争是媒体的狂欢节，而美国媒体向来是擅长同战争“共舞”的。在伊拉克战争中美国媒体就发挥了重要作用，成为战争的一个组成部分。如今，媒体对现代化战争所起的作用越来越重要，如何在战争中充分发挥媒体的作用，值得我们认真思考。美国媒体在伊拉克战争中，扮演着一个全新的角色，这为如何在现代战争巾运用媒体留下了宝贵的经验，带给我们重要启示。     

Material in the middle ear of dogs having magnetic resonance imaging for investigation of neurologic signs

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and potential significance of finding material in the middle ear of dogs having magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Of 466 MR studies reviewed, an increased signal was identified in the tympanic bulla in 32 (7%) dogs. Cavalier King Charles spaniels, Cocker spaniels, Bulldogs, and Boxers were over-represented compared to the population of dogs having MR imaging. Five (16%) dogs had definite otitis media and one (3%) had a meningioma invading the middle ear. Of the remaining dogs, 13 (41%) had possible otitis media and 13 (41%) had neurologic conditions apparently unrelated to otitis media. The most common appearance of material in the middle ear was isointense in T1-weighted images and hyperintense in T2-weighted images. There was no apparent correlation between the signal characteristics of the material and the diagnosis. Enhanced signal after gadolinium administration was observed affecting the lining of the bulla in dogs with otitis media and in dogs with unrelated neurologic conditions. In dogs without clinical signs of otitis media, finding an increased signal in the middle ear during MR imaging may reflect subclinical otitis media or fluid accumulation unrelated to inflammation. Brachycephalic dogs may be predisposed to this condition.     

UV-absorbing compounds and susceptibility of weedy species to UV-B radiation

Stratospheric ozone (O₃) depletion has led to increased terrestrial ultraviolet‐B (UV‐B) radiation (290–320 nm). Leaves exposed to this radiation produce UV‐absorbing compounds in the epidermal cells, which protect plants from UV‐B damage. To determine the role of UV‐absorbing compounds in the UV‐B sensitivity of weeds (common chickweed (Stellaria media), downy brome (Bromus tectorum), green smartweed (Polygonum scabrum), redroot pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus), spotted cat’s‐ear (Hypochoeris radicata), and stork’s‐bill (Erodium cicutarium)) seedlings were exposed to 0, 4 (field ambient), 7 (18% O₃ depletion) and 11 (37% O₃ depletion) kJ m^?2 d^?1 of biologically effective UV‐B radiation in a greenhouse. Ultraviolet‐absorbing compounds were extracted from the second true‐leaf (0.5 cm² samples) with methanol : distilled water : HCl (79 : 20 : 1) in an 85°C water bath for 15 min, and the absorbance of the extracts measured at 300 nm. The shoot dry biomass was recorded to determine the susceptibility to UV‐B radiation. Common chickweed was the most sensitive and green smartweed the least sensitive weed to UV‐B radiation. The latter accumulated more UV‐absorbing compounds and this accumulation occurred earlier compared with common chickweed. As UV‐B_BE radiation levels increased from 0 to 11 kJ m^?2 d^?1, the green smartweed shoot biomass did not decline. However, the biomass of all five susceptible species declined despite an increase in the UV‐absorbing compounds in response to increased UV‐B radiation. Therefore, formation of a ‘UV‐screen’ in these species is not sufficient to fully prevent UV‐B damage. When the concentration of UV‐absorbing compounds in the six species was plotted against their susceptibility to UV‐B radiation, no relationship was observed. Thus, while the accumulation of UV‐absorbing compounds may be a major factor in the protection of certain species against UV‐B radiation and may offer some degree of defence in other species, it does not explain UV‐B susceptibility differences in weedy species in general.     

灰树花斜面母种培养基的优化

试验在传统培养基基础上,分别从葡萄糖单因素培养、合成培养基正交培养与半合成培养基正交培养3个角度或层次对灰树花(Grifala frondosa)母种斜面培养基进行了优化探讨.结果表明,适合灰树花茵丝生长的最佳斜面培养基配方为土豆200g、麸皮100 g、玉米面100 g、板栗壳100 g、葡萄糖20 g、林地土20g、蛋白胨1 g、琼脂20g、CaCl2 0.1 g、KH2PO41 g、FeSO4 1 g、MgSO4 0.5 g、ZnSO4 0.01 g、水1L、pH值6.0.该配方既可为灰树花母种的制备提供依据,又能为灰树花的大面积栽培以及为实现工业化大生产而进行的液态发酵培养奠定基础.
