A survey of the Eriococcidae (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) of Ankara Province,Turkey

The Coccoidea of cultivated and non-cultivated areas of Ankara Province, in central Anatolia, Turkey, were surveyed between 1999 and 2001. Eleven species of Eriococcidae were collected, of which nine are new records for Turkey:Acanthococcus greeni Newstead,A. micracanthus Danzig,A. munroi Boratynski,A. roboris (Goux),A. zernae Tereznikova,Rhizococcus cingulatus (Kiritchenko),R. cynodontis (Kiritchenko),R. herbaceus Danzig andR. pseudinsignis (Green). http://www.phytoparasitica.org posting Sept. 30, 2003.

中国毡蚧科一新种记述(同翅目:蚧总科)

该文记述了采自北京的毡蚧属 1新种———栾树毡蚧Eriococcuskoelreuteriussp .nov .,详细描述和图示了各虫态的形态特征 ,并与近似种山杏毡蚧EriococcusarmeniacusTang(1995 )进行了比较 ,二者均可依据肛前刺 2根 ,尾瓣内缘锯齿状 ,而明显区别于本属的其他种类 .新种的雌成虫与山杏毡蚧的雌成虫区别特征为 :前者触角 7～ 8节 ,触角7节时 ,第 4节最长 ,触角 8节时 (第 4节分化为 2节 ) ,第 3节最长 ;后者触角 6～ 7节 ,第 3节最长 .前者体背缘刺每腹节每侧 2根 ,后者每腹节每侧 3根 .模式标本保存于北京林业大学昆虫标本室     

Changes and comments on the taxonomy and nomenclature of some taxa in the families coccidae, eriococcidae and pseudococcidae (Homoptera: Coccoidea)

Catalogues of soft scale insects (Coccidae), felt scales (Eriococcidae) and mealybugs (Pseudococcidae) will soon be placed on the World Wide Web. Before these data are made available, several taxonomic and nomenclatural changes in taxa of these families must be validated in print.     

Scale insect pests on ornamental plants in urban habitats in Turkey

Ornamental plants play an increasingly important role in urban habitats in Turkey. Scale insects are a serious pest group that attack ornamental plants. In this study, a total of 67 species of Coccoidea belonging to 7 families, which are harmful to ornamental plants, are given in Tables 1, 2, and 3. These tables are based on the authors data and on bibliographic sources. The most numerous families are Diaspididae (31), Coccidae (23), Pseudococcidae (7), Eriococcidae (3), and the Margarodidae, Kermesidae and Astereolecaniidae (1). Twenty-one of these species are harmful to flowering fruit and deciduous trees, 5 species are harmful to conifers, while 15 species are important orchard pests. Their hosts and distributions are also taken into consideration.
