We examined the effects of low-dose fish oil ingestion on hepatic lipid accumulation caused after high cholesterol feeding in C57BL/6J mice. The mice were fed purified experimental diets consisting of 20 energy % (en%) safflower oil (SO or SO/CH), 2 en% fish oil + 18 en% safflower oil (2FO or 2FO/CH), or 5 en% fish oil + 15 en% safflower oil (5FO or 5FO/CH) with or without 2 weight % (wt %) cholesterol for 8 weeks. Hepatic triglyceride and total cholesterol contents were significantly lower in groups that were fed diets containing fish oil and cholesterol than in those that were fed safflower oil and cholesterol. The hepatic mRNA levels of fatty acid synthase (FAS) were lower in groups fed cholesterol or fish oil. Fatty acid oxidation-related hepatic gene expressions were higher in fish oil-fed groups. Fecal cholesterol excretion was higher in all cholesterol-fed groups; cholesterol excretion was high in groups fed fish oil and cholesterol. These results suggest that low-dose fish oil diets improve lipid metabolism by modifying the expression of lipid metabolism-related genes in the liver and increasing fecal cholesterol excretion. 相似文献

In July 2020, a sow in a breeding herd in the Chiba Prefecture, Japan, suffered abortion. A necropsy revealed pale pulmonary foci scattered in the two fetuses. Histologically, multifocal pulmonary necrosis was detected with numerous yeasts. The yeast was positively stained using the periodic acid-Schiff reaction and Grocott’s silver stain. Molecular identification indicated that the yeast was Candida parapsilosis. In conclusion, our results suggested that C. parapsilosis caused multifocal necrotizing pneumonia in the two fetuses. This study is the first report of a swine abortion with C. parapsilosis infection. 相似文献

In order to validate daily increment formation in otoliths of immature and adult Japanese anchovy Engraulis japonicus, three rearing experiments using chemical marking of otoliths were conducted on adult anchovy in summer 2004 and immature
anchovy in summer 2005 and in winter 2006. In the two experiments conducted in summer, the number of otolith microincrements
between alizarin complexone (ALC) marks showed that microincrements were formed daily. In the summer 2005 experiment, immature
anchovy under conditions of reduced daily food rations also showed daily microincrement formation. Average increment width
was 0.9 μm in adults and 1.8–3.1 μm in immature anchovy. In contrast, no clear increments were observed between ALC marks
on the otoliths from the experiment in winter 2006, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations failed to confirm
clear increment formation. We consider that low water temperatures (<13–14°C) restricted otolith growth and lowered the contrast
between the discontinuous and the incremental zones of the otolith increments. For age estimation of Japanese anchovy, clear
increments wider than about 1 μm in the otolith can be regarded as daily increments. However, daily age estimation of immature
and adult anchovy that experience low water temperatures in winter may be difficult due to the obscurity of the increments. 相似文献

Acoustic surveys have been conducted for estimating the biomass of commercially important fish (e.g., anchovy, jack mackerel),
lanternfish (Diaphus
garmani and D. chrysorhynchus), and pearlside (Maurolicus japonicus) in summer in the East China Sea (ECS) since 1997. The biomass of lanternfish and pearlside was 2.26–19.16 times that of
commercially important fish, and these species represented substantial biomass in the ECS. Though there were no correlations
between biomass of pearlside and environmental indices, significant correlations between biomass of lanternfish and southern
oscillation index (SOI) in March (positive correlation), arctic oscillation (AO) in March (negative) and October (positive),
monsoon index (MOI) in February (positive), and Kuroshio flow mass in winter (positive) were observed. Weak AO and strong
MOI would cool down the sea temperature and would lead to increased primary and secondary production in the ECS, thereby enhancing
larval survival of lanternfish. The SOI would affect the Kuroshio meander in the ECS, and strong SOI and Kuroshio flow mass
would transport larvae of lanternfish to the present survey area. This is the first report on the lanternfish standing stock
and its fluctuation in the ECS. 相似文献
