Monoclonal integration of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) proviral DNA into bovine genomes
was detected in peripheral blood from two clinical cases of enzootic bovine leukosis (EBL)
without enlargement of superficial lymph nodes. A BLV-specific probe hybridized with 1 to
3 EcoRI and HindIII fragments in these 2 atypical EBL
cattle by Southern blotting and hybridization, as well as in 3 typical EBL cattle. The
probe also hybridized to a large number of EcoRI and
HindIII fragments in 5 cattle with persistent leukosis. These results
suggest that the detection of monoclonal integration of BLV provirus into the host genome
may serve as a marker of monoclonal proliferation and malignancy in difficult to diagnose

The objective of this study was to examine the health and meat production of cloned sows
and their progenies in order to demonstrate the application of somatic cell cloning to the
pig industry. This study compared the growth, reproductive performance, carcass
characteristics and meat quality of Landrace cloned sows, F1 progenies and F2 progenies.
We measured their body weight, growth rate and feed conversion and performed a
pathological analysis of their anatomy to detect abnormalities. Three of the five cloned
pigs were used for a growth test. Cloned pigs grew normally and had characteristics
similar to those of the control purebred Landrace pigs. Two cloned gilts were bred with a
Landrace boar and used for a progeny test. F1 progenies had characteristics similar to
those of the controls. Two of the F1 progeny gilts were bred with a Duroc or Large White
boar and used for the progeny test. F2 progenies grew normally. There were no biological
differences in growth, carcass characteristics and amino acid composition among cloned
sows, F1 progenies, F2 progenies and conventional pigs. The cloned sows and F1 progenies
showed normal reproductive performance. No specific abnormalities were observed by
pathological analysis, with the exception of periarteritis in the F1 progenies. All pigs
had a normal karyotype. These results demonstrate that cloned female pigs and their
progenies have similar growth, reproductive performance and carcass quality
characteristics and that somatic cell cloning could be a useful technique for conserving
superior pig breeds in conventional meat production. 相似文献

Low and highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses (LPAIVs and HPAIVs, respectively) have been co-circulating in poultry populations in Asian, Middle Eastern, and African countries. In our avian-flu surveillance in Vietnamese domestic ducks, viral genes of LPAIV and HPAIV have been frequently detected in the same individual. To assess the influence of LPAIV on the pathogenicity of H5 HPAIV in domestic ducks, an experimental co-infection study was performed. One-week-old domestic ducks were inoculated intranasally and orally with phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) (control) or 106 EID50 of LPAIVs (A/duck/Vietnam/LBM678/2014 (H6N6) or A/Muscovy duck/Vietnam/LBM694/2014 (H9N2)). Seven days later, these ducks were inoculated with HPAIV (A/Muscovy duck/Vietnam/LBM808/2015 (H5N6)) in the same manner. The respective survival rates were 100% and 50% in ducks pre-infected with LBM694 or LBM678 strains and both higher than the survival of the control group (25%). The virus titers in oral/cloacal swabs of each LPAIV pre-inoculation group were significantly lower at 3–5 days post-HPAIV inoculation. Notably, almost no virus was detected in swabs from surviving individuals of the LBM678 pre-inoculation group. Antigenic cross-reactivity among the viruses was not observed in the neutralization test. These results suggest that pre-infection with LPAIV attenuates the pathogenicity of HPAIV in domestic ducks, which might be explained by innate and/or cell-mediated immunity induced by the initial infection with LPAIV. 相似文献

Myostatin, a member of the TGF-β superfamily, is a negative regulator of skeletal muscle mass. We have recently demonstrated that decorin binds to myostatin in vitro , and that immobilized decorin within the collagen matrix prevents myostatin-mediated inhibition of myoblast proliferation. However, little is known about other ECM molecules that bind to myostatin and modulate its activity. Thus, in the present study, we investigated the interaction of several other ECM molecules with myostatin. We here show that fibromodulin, fibronectin and laminin bind to myostatin in the presence of Zn2+ with a dissociation constant ( KD ) of 10−10 ∼10−8 mol/L. Fibromodulin shows the highest affinity for myostatin among them. These results suggest that these ECM molecules may modulate myostatin activity like decorin does. 相似文献

AIM: To investigate the roles of forkhead box c2( Foxc2 ) in axial skeloton. METHODS: Mice lacking Foxc2 locus were produced by targeted mutation and the developmental anomalies in axial skeleton were analyzed. RESULTS: Foxc2 protein increased markedly in Myoblasts C2C12 after treating with BMP-2, and alkaline phosphatase activity and production of osteocalcin in Myoblasts C2C12 were significantly higher than that in cell lines transfecting antisense Foxc2 sequence. Expressed median cleft palatine, dysplasia of auditory ossicles and vertebral and anteroposterior facial dysplasia were found in all 15 homozygous mouse neonates with targeted mutation of Foxc2 . CONCLUSION: These results suggest that Foxc2 has indispensable roles during skeletogenesis in mesoderm and cells derived from the neural crest. 相似文献

Impact of climate change on marine biogeochemical parameters and ecosystem is one of the important issues of our environment. Direct evidence of marine pelagic ecosystem changes is found with warming of sea water and sea‐level rise in the main stream of the Kuroshio in the East China Sea and the western North Pacific during these three decades based on the analysis of long‐term comprehensive hydrographic observations. In terms of annual mean, the warming rate of surface air temperature and sea surface temperature ranged from 0.15 to 0.21°C per decade in and around the main stream of the Kuroshio in the East China Sea, which exceed the global mean warming rate of 0.128 ± 0.026°C per decade during the period from 1956 to 2005 reported in IPCC 2007. One of the features in this rapid warming region is an increase of number of Pterosagitta draco, a cosmopolitan warm‐water zooplankton. Biogeochemical parameters, such as wet weight of zooplankton, plant pigment and nutrients concentration in the upper 200 m have been decreasing while dissolved oxygen content and seawater temperature have been increasing in the upper 200 m in the main stream of the Kuroshio in the East China Sea. These observed linear trends of the biogeochemical parameters would be foresights for temperate oceans in the future. 相似文献

In dogs, pancreatic acinar cell injury is thought to be caused by decreased pancreatic blood flow due to heart failure. In previous our report, it demonstrated that decreased heart function causes a significant decrease in pancreatic blood flow in heart failure dog model caused by rapid ventricular pacing (RVP). However, the types of histopathological changes remain unclear. We aimed to verify the types of histopathological changes occurring in the pancreatic tissue due to decreased heart function. After RVP for 4 weeks, atrophy of pancreatic acinar cells, characterized by a decrease in zymogen granules, was observed in all areas of the pancreas. In conclusion, the result of this study suggests that attention should be paid to ischemia/hypoperfusion injury in the pancreas. 相似文献
