Corneal lesions appearing as white mass beneath intact epithelium, with ocular discharge in one mouse, was observed in a batch of laboratory-raised BALB/c mice (n=9 of 56). The affected mice remained active, well-groomed and had normal appetite. Isolates recovered from swab cultures of the external and internal contents of the eye had partial 16S rRNA gene sequence of 99.1% similarity to Streptococcus cuniculi. No previous report of S. cuniculi infection in laboratory rodents has been presented. The isolate was susceptible to all antibiotics tested. We suggest S. cuniculi is an opportunistic bacteria in laboratory mice but are uncertain of its source. Our findings revealed that S. cuniculi is able to colonize laboratory mice and should be considered when mice present with eye lesion or ocular discharge.  相似文献

未尽利用热带水果,即在当地消费和医用的非贸易热带水果,未普及化,生长于野外,季节性强,但富含多酚类化合物、类胡萝卜素、花青素、脂肪酸、矿物质和氨基酸,因而具有一定的开发潜力。在马来西亚,热带水果丰富多样,主要有普通水果、观赏水果、特有水果、野生水果和高地水果,但大部分水果都未能充分利用,其中,典型的有罗望子、巴杖果、砂拉越芒果、钮扣山竹、榴莲、莲雾、挂尼芒果、野红毛丹和蛇皮果。这些水果可以分为3个类型:具有贸易开发潜力的主要包括无花果(Ficus sp.)、罗望子(Garcinia atroviridis)、尖必达(Artocarpus integer)、鲜花木果(Lepisan-thes alata)、野榴莲(Durio sp.)、橄榄木(Spondias cytherea)、菠萝蜜(Artocarpus heterophullus)、槟榔(Areca catechu)、野红毛丹(Nephelium ramboutan-ake)、蛇皮果(Salacca zalacca)和面包果(Artocarpus altilis);具有适于当地人们利用潜力的水果种类包括木胡瓜(Averrhoe bilimbi)、榔拜果(Baccaurea motteyana)、单贝果Baccaurea macrocarpa)、喃喃果属(Cynometra cauliflora)、西柚(Dialum indum)、黄肉榴莲(Durio kutejensis)、野生山竹(Garcinia hombroiniana)、野檬果(Garcinia parvifolia)、巴杖果(Mangifera feotida)、醋栗(Phyllanthus emblica)、蒲桃(Syzygium jambos);不具有经济利用开发潜力的水果种类包括哥露比(Salacca conferta)、青枣(Zizyphus mauritiana)、木奶果属(Baccaurea polyneura)、野檬果(Garcinia parvifolia)、番龙眼(Pometia sp.)、赤才果(Leppisanthes rubiginosa)、波漆果(Bouea microphylla)、蛋黄果(Pouteria campechiana)和仙都果(Sandoricum koetjape)。目前,有关未尽利用水果研究仍处于初期阶段,有必要使这些水果更为普及并得到有效利用,因此,政府和私人组织须采取一些措施以促进这些水果的消费。今后需对这些水果的营养成分、抗氧化作用以及疗效进行深入研究。  相似文献

Measurement of soil bulk density is important for understanding the physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil. Accurate and rapid soil bulk density measurement techniques play a significant role in agricultural experimental research. This review is a comprehensive summary of existing measurement methods and evaluates their advantages, disadvantages, potential sources of error, and directions for future development. These techniques can be broadly categorised as direct and indirect methods. Direct methods include core, clod, and excavation sampling, whereas indirect methods include the radiation and regression approaches. The core method is most widely used, but it is time consuming and difficult to use for sampling multiple soil depths. The size of the coring cylinder used, operator experience, sampling depth, and in-situ soil moisture content significantly affect its accuracy. The clod method is suitable for use with heavy clay soils, and its accuracy is dependent on equipment calibration, drying time, and operator experience, but the process is complicated and time consuming. Excavation techniques are most commonly used to evaluate the bulk density of forest soils, but have major limitations as they cannot be used in soils with large pores and their measurement accuracy is strongly influenced by soil texture and the type of analysis selected. The indirect methods appear to have greater accuracy than direct approaches, but have higher costs, are more complex, and require greater operator experience. One such approach uses gamma radiation, and its accuracy is strongly influenced by soil depth. Regression methods are economical as they can make indirect measurements, but these depend on good, quality data of soil texture and organic matter content and geographical and climatic properties. Also, like most of the other approaches, its accuracy decreases with sampling depth.  相似文献

Abstract. Intracytoplasmic organisms resembling rickettsia were observed in tissues of two blue-eyed plecostoitius, Panaqae suttoni (Eigenmann & Eigenmann), a tropical freshwater fish. Gross lesions were limited to renomegaly and splenomegaly. Cytopathological and histopathological examination of the various tissues revealed numerous small, discrete, coccoid organisms in the cytoplasm of monocytes as well as tissue macrophages of the spleen, heart, kidney and sometimes liver. Transmission electron microscopy confirmed that these organisms were within membrane-bound vacuoles and had a morphology resembling rickettsia.  相似文献

Rat bocavirus (RBoV) and rodent bocavirus (RoBoV) have previously been detected in Rattus norvegicus; however, these viruses have not been reported in rodent populations in Malaysia. We investigated the presence of RBoV and RoBoV in archived rodent specimens. DNA barcoding of the rodent cytochrome c oxidase gene identified five different species: Rattus tanezumi R3 mitotype, Rattus tiomanicus, Rattus exulans, Rattus argentiventer, and Rattus tanezumi sensu stricto. Three spleens were positive for RBoV (1.84%; 3/163), but no RoBoV was detected. Phylogenetic analyzes of the partial non-structural protein 1 gene grouped Malaysian RBoV strains with RBoV strains from China. Further studies among rats from different geographical locations are warranted for this relatively new virus.  相似文献
