Transmitted photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) was measured in eight-year-old silvopastoral stands at three different locations in the UK by using PAR sensors randomly distributed between four adjacent trees planted in a square pattern. Two densities (100 stems.ha-1 and 400 stems.ha-1 were compared. The annual carrying capacity (live weight of the animals that a plot supports) was also recorded as an indirect figure of the overall agricultural production of the system. The silvopastoral plots received less radiation than the agricultural plot without trees, the 400 stems.ha-1 treatment being more shaded than the 100 stems.ha-1. Over the measurement period, on some special days, a maximum of 30% of the incoming radiation was intercepted on the 400 stem.ha-1 treatment with the largest trees. The amount of light intercepted was highly correlated with the type of weather and the leaf area development of the trees: the brighter the day and more expanded the leaf area, the higher was the proportion of radiation intercepted by the tree. However, over the measuring period, a small amount of radiation was intercepted by the tree canopies. As a consequence, no differences were observed in the annual carrying capacity. In the present study, we investigated expressions of vesicular glutamate transporter (VGLUT) and of the plasma membrane glutamate transporters [glutamate transporter 1 (GLT-1), glutamate/aspartate transporter (GLAST) and excitatory amino acid carrier 1 (EAAC-1)] in the gerbil hippocampus following transient ischaemia. The expressional levels and distribution patterns of VGLUT immunoreactivities were unaltered until 3 days after ischaemic-insults. However, VGLUT-2 immunoreactivity in the CA1 region was reduced at 4 days after ischaemia due to delayed neuronal death. In addition, both GLT-1 and GLAST immunoreactivities in the CA1 region were enhanced at 30 min - 12 h after ischaemia-reperfusion and their expression began to reduce at 24 h after ischaemia-reperfusion. In contrast, EAAC-1 immunoreactivity was transiently reduced in the CA1 region at 30 min after ischaemia, re-enhanced at 3-12 h after ischaemia, and re-reduced at 24 h after ischaemia. These findings suggest that malfunctions of plasma membrane glutamate transporters, not of VGLUT, may play an important role in the elevation of extracellular glutamate concentration following ischaemic insults.  相似文献

We report data from the Cassini radio and plasma wave instrument during the approach and first orbit at Saturn. During the approach, radio emissions from Saturn showed that the radio rotation period is now 10 hours 45 minutes 45 +/- 36 seconds, about 6 minutes longer than measured by Voyager in 1980 to 1981. In addition, many intense impulsive radio signals were detected from Saturn lightning during the approach and first orbit. Some of these have been linked to storm systems observed by the Cassini imaging instrument. Within the magnetosphere, whistler-mode auroral hiss emissions were observed near the rings, suggesting that a strong electrodynamic interaction is occurring in or near the rings.  相似文献

Saturn's moon Rhea had been considered massive enough to retain a thin, externally generated atmosphere capable of locally affecting Saturn's magnetosphere. The Cassini spacecraft's in situ observations reveal that energetic electrons are depleted in the moon's vicinity. The absence of a substantial exosphere implies that Rhea's magnetospheric interaction region, rather than being exclusively induced by sputtered gas and its products, likely contains solid material that can absorb magnetospheric particles. Combined observations from several instruments suggest that this material is in the form of grains and boulders up to several decimetres in size and orbits Rhea as an equatorial debris disk. Within this disk may reside denser, discrete rings or arcs of material.  相似文献

To help agricultural advisors to propose innovative crop management systems, simulation models can be a complementary tool to field experiments and prototyping. Crop management systems can be modelled either by using a vector representing dates and quantities used as input parameters in crop models or by developing specific decision models linked with biophysical models. The general design process of crop management systems by simulation follows a four-step loop (GSEC): (i) generation; (ii) simulation; (iii) evaluation; (iv) comparison and choice. The Generation step can follow different approaches: from blind generation before simulation to optimization procedures using artificial intelligence algorithms during the loop process. Simulation is mainly an engineering problem. Evaluation process means assigning a vector of indicators to the simulated crop management systems. A three-point evaluation can be carried out on the simulated crop management systems: global, agronomic and analytical. Comparison and choice of different simulated crop management systems raise the question of “monetary” versus “non-monetary” comparison and how to aggregate different quantities such as drainage, nitrogen fertilisers, labour, etc. Different examples are given to illustrate the GSEC loop on the basis of research programs conducted in France. Methodological advances and challenges are then discussed.  相似文献

Atlantic salmon smolts are usually transferred to sea water during early spring, but photoperiod treatment can be used to produce underyearling (0+) smolts for transfer to sea water in late autumn, 7–8 months earlier than usual. This study investigated the effect of exposure to additional continuous light (LL) of different intensities on 0+ smolts after transfer to sea water. 0+ smolts transferred to sea cages in mid-October were exposed to natural light (NL) or LL of one of three intensities (low, medium or high) until January, whereupon they experienced NL until harvest in December. Fish in all groups displayed a normal ability to hypoosmoregulate, assessed by monitoring plasma chloride concentrations after transfer to sea water. No consistent differences in length, weight or condition were found between LL groups. The LL groups had greater growth in length than the NL group during the time of LL exposure, followed by an increase in weight when exposed to NL. This resulted in fish of larger size than the NL group. By August, the fish in the NL group had caught up with the LL groups in respect of length, weight and condition factors. This suggests that the LL treatment led to increased winter growth and phase-shifted a seasonal pattern of growth. The incidence of sexual maturation was low (< 1%), with no differences between groups.  相似文献

Wild Atlantic mackerel, Scomber scombrus L., aged 1 and 2 years, which overwintered in sea cages from October to June at temperatures above 5 °C had high rates of survival and adapted to feed on commercial 4-mm food pellets. Growth and food intake was related to temperature and the specific growth rate (w) approached zero at around 7 °C. In contrast to the natural cycle, there were only small reductions in weight and fat content from January to May. No consistent influence of a 24-h photoperiod was found on growth and maturation. Independent of the temporal food distribution, the mackerel exhibited high plasticity in growth and fat deposition in a starvation/re-feeding trial.  相似文献

A distinctive way of quantitatively imaging inertial fusion implosions has resulted in the characterization of two different types of electromagnetic configurations and in the measurement of the temporal evolution of capsule size and areal density. Radiography with a pulsed, monoenergetic, isotropic proton source reveals field structures through deflection of proton trajectories, and areal densities are quantified through the energy lost by protons while traversing the plasma. The two field structures consist of (i) many radial filaments with complex striations and bifurcations, permeating the entire field of view, of magnetic field magnitude 60 tesla and (ii) a coherent, centrally directed electric field of order 10(9) volts per meter, seen in proximity to the capsule surface. Although the mechanism for generating these fields is unclear, their effect on implosion dynamics is potentially consequential.  相似文献

This short communication describes the case of partial foetal retention in an 18-month-old female French bulldog following induction of abortion owing to an undesired mating. Abortion was induced with aglepristone administered in two consecutive protocols of a dual injection 1 day apart. After failure of the first treatment to achieve abortion, 15 days later, a second treatment was administered. Delivering of aborted foetus occurred 2 days after the last administration. Five weeks after the abortion, the female showed a weak haemorrhagic vaginal discharge. On ultrasound examination, the presence of uterine wall distension as well as a puppy skull inside the uterus was observed. This clinical case makes clear that although aglepristone is a very reliable drug, follow-up of the female during treatment and in the immediate post-partum is necessary to ensure a good outcome.  相似文献

After 3 years and 31 close flybys of Titan by the Cassini Orbiter, Titan was finally observed in the shocked solar wind, outside of Saturn's magnetosphere. These observations revealed that Titan's flow-induced magnetosphere was populated by "fossil" fields originating from Saturn, to which the satellite was exposed before its excursion through the magnetopause. In addition, strong magnetic shear observed at the edge of Titan's induced magnetosphere suggests that reconnection may have been involved in the replacement of the fossil fields by the interplanetary magnetic field.  相似文献
