Recently, anthracnose has become a major problem in papaya production and postharvest stages. The occurrence of both Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and Colletotrichum capsici has been demonstrated in this crop. The differential response of these pathogens to fungicides has highlighted the need to use rapid and accurate techniques to identify them. Thus, the objective of this study was to reveal the genetic diversity of Colletotrichum isolates in Mexican papaya fields. C. gloeosporioides-and C. capsici-specific primers were successfully used to detect the pathogens from different papaya parts. A combination of morphological characters, molecular techniques and pathogenicity tests were used to characterize 37 isolates from different localities of five papaya-producing states. Analyses of the 5.8-ITS region and arbitrarily primed-PCR revealed intraspecific groups; most of the isolates within these groups have the same geographical location and morphological characteristics. Knowledge of the genetic diversity of Colletotrichum spp. in Mexican papaya fields will facilitate the identification of the pathogen population in this crop in order to select the appropriate fungicide to control anthracnose, as well as to improve genetic resistance breeding programs.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to develop and validate a standard area diagram set (SADs) to assess the severity of peach rust, caused by Tranzschelia discolor. The proposed SADs includes ten images of leaves with a range of severity (0.1, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 5.0, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30%). The SADs was validated by 14 raters who had no experience in plant disease severity estimation. In the first step of the validation, the raters made severity estimates of 50 leaves with a range of rust severity without using SADs. In the second step, the same raters estimated severity of rust on the same 50 leaves using the SADs to aid estimation. Lin’s concordance correlation analysis showed that both precision and accuracy improved when the raters used the SADs compared to the assessments made without SADs. Accuracy, as measured by the coefficient of bias (C b ) improved from 0.70 to 0.98, without and with SADs, respectively, and precision measured by the correlation coefficient (r) improved from 0.85 to 0.90, without and with SADs, respectively. Overall agreement, measured by Lin’s concordance correlation coefficient (ρ c ), improved from 0.59 to 0.88 without and with SADs, respectively. Furthermore, estimates were more reliable when using SADs: the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.60 without and 0.73 with SADs; and the intra-class correlation coefficient (ρ) was 0.72 without, and 0.86 with SADs. Thus, the use of SADs improved the precision, accuracy and reliability of visual estimates of severity of peach rust.  相似文献

Most of the Mediterranean woodlands in Spain, Portugal, and California are managed as agrosilvopastoral enterprises, producing some combination of livestock, wood, cork products, and crops, as well as wildlife habitat and diverse environmental services. Private amenity benefits to landowners have been suggested as an explanation for high land prices and the persistence of such rangeland enterprises despite apparently marginal cash returns. In this study, private amenity values are estimated using a contingent valuation technique in surveys of private woodland owners as part of five case studies, using a design developed to separate landowner amenity income and capital values. Nonindustrial private landowners were asked about the maximum amount of money that they were willing to give up (to pay) before selling their property to invest in more commercially profitable assets, and the proportion of the market price of their woodland that they think is explained by privately consumed amenities. Amenity values were found to be relevant because, in all cases, landowners were willing to pay &spigt; €120 · ha-1 · yr-1, at 2002 prices, and attributed &spigt; 30% of land market price to amenities. These values represent an amenity profitability rate &spigt; 2% in all case studies. The data analysis shows some similarities, but mostly divergences, in the different land-simulated and amenity-simulated markets.  相似文献
