The type, ages of occurrence, primary complaints, clinical signs and mortality in forty-seven cases of uterine disorders diagnosed by ventrotomy in rabbits were analyzed retrospectively. Endometrial hyperplasia (29.8%) was most frequently observed, followed by uterine adenocarcinoma (21.3%). Tumorous lesions were seen in 46.8% of the cases. The age of occurrence ranged from two years and two months to seven years and six months, with a peak at four to five years of age. The most common primary complaint was bleeding (62.2%), followed by mammary gland abnormality (12.8%) and increased abdominal circumference (10.6%). Physical examinations revealed mammary gland disorders such as mammary cysts in 31.9% of the cases. Uterine disorders were detected by palpation in 15 out of 32 cases with a primary complaint of bleeding. Ultrasonography showed uterine disorders in 21 out of 24 cases, suggesting that ultrasonography could be useful in the diagnosis of uterine disorders. The outcome seemed to be influenced by physical status rather than malignancy of lesions. The mortality was higher in cases with symptoms such as anorexia, emaciation, severe anemia, and dehydration.  相似文献

A field survey on the concentration of chemical species in particulate matter and gaseous compounds at two monitoring sites with different site classifications (urban and rural) was conducted over three years. Total (particulate matter + gaseous compounds) concentrations at the rural site were significantly lower than those at the urban site for all species (sulfur $\left( {{\text{SO}}^{{{\text{2 - }}}}_{{\text{4}}} {\left( {\text{p}} \right)}} \right.$ and SO2(g)), nitrate ${\text{(NO}}_{{{\text{3}}^{{\text{ - }}} }} {\left( {\text{p}} \right)}$ and HNO3(g)), ammonium ${\text{(NH}}_{{{\text{4}}^{{\text{ + }}} }} {\text{(p)}})$ and ammonia (NH3(g)), and chloride (Cl? (p) and HCl (g))), which is thought to reflect classification of the site. The difference in the sulfur concentration at the urban and rural sites was characterized by the difference in SO2 (g) concentration. Further, a clear seasonality was observed for the nitrate species. The HNO3 (g) concentration was high in the summer compared with other seasons at both the urban and rural sites. The ${\text{NH}}_4^ + \left( {\text{p}} \right)$ concentration levels were approximately the same as those of NH3 (g) at both sites. The molar ratios of the particulate matter concentration to the total concentration showed different characteristics; the nitrate, ammonium and ammonia, and chloride species showed a clear seasonal variation: low in summer and high in winter and the values were similar regardless of the site. On the other hand, the sulfur species showed constant values at both the urban and rural sites, however the concentrations were significantly different for the two sites. Ammonium accounted for the largest proportion of cations in the particulate matter, regardless of the site classification. In contrast, ${\text{SO}}_4^{2 - } \left( {\text{p}} \right)$ accounted for the largest proportion of anions at the rural site, whereas ${\text{NO}}_3^ - \left( {\text{p}} \right)$ was comparable to ${\text{SO}}_4^{2 - } \left( {\text{p}} \right)$ at the urban site. Ammonia accounted for the largest proportion of all chemical species at both sites. Seasonal analysis of the proportional distribution in particulate matter and gaseous compounds provides information on atmospheric conditions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT:   To obtain fundamental information for the effective use of scallop Patinopecten yessoensis mantle, which is one of the underutilized marine resources. Some properties of collagen contained in the mantle were examined by chemical and histochemical techniques. Collagen content in the mantle varied annually, ranging from 0.98 to 1.72% of wet tissue, 7.7 to 12.6% of dry tissue and 13.5 to 26.5% of total protein, being relatively in high level of collagen content of invertebrate muscles. Collagen fiber was densely distributed in the inner connective tissue matrix of the mantle pallial, in contrast to the inner fold part which was rich in muscle fibers. The collagen contained in the crude collagen fraction (residue after alkali extraction), prepared from the mantle, was revealed to have considerably low solubility on hot-water extraction, constantly less than 20% of the total collagen at the temperatures in the range of 20–90°C.  相似文献

Three ichthyotoxic peptides, pardaxins P-I to P-3, have been isolated from the defense secretion of the sole Pardachirus pavoninus. Pavoninins, the steroid glycosides with shark-repelling ability, had previously been isolated therefrom. Each pardaxin consists of 33 amino acid residues having a distinctly hydrophilic carboxyl terminal region and a predominantly hydrophobic remainder; the pardaxin is thus strongly surfactant. These peptides show marked physical and pharmacological similarities to melittin, the major active constituent of bee venom, yet they lack sequence homology. They are probably also responsible for the predator-repelling property of the sole.  相似文献

An automatic counting method was developed for fish blood cells using a fluorescent dye, 3, 3-dihexyloxacarbocyanine (DiOC (6)(3)), that selectively stain lipid bilayers in living cells. In the present study, the DiOC(6)(3) method was applied to quail (Cotumix cotumix japonica) blood cells. After quail blood cells were stained with DiOC(6)(3), absolute counts and relative proportions of erythrocytes, granulocytes, monocytes, and lymphocytes plus thrombocytes in whole blood were obtained by means of flow cytometry (FC). The number of each cell types by the FC was in good agreement with those counted microscopically. This method will offer new possibilities for routine blood cell counting for avian medicine.  相似文献

Fog water and precipitation were collected and analyzed to study fog and precipitation chemistry. The research was carried out through one year from April 1997 to March 1998 at Mt. Rokko in Kobe. Higher fog occurrence and larger volume of fog water were observed in summer, corresponding to the trend of seasonal variation in precipitation amount. The annual mean pH value of fog water (3.80) was lower by ca. one pH unit than that of precipitation (4.74). The concentration of chemical species in fog water was ca. 7 times that in precipitation. The highest anion and cation concentrations were SO4 2? and NH4 + in fog water and Cl? and Na+ in precipitation, although the Cl?/Na+ equivalent ratio in both fog water and precipitation was almost the same value as that in sea water. It is considered that in the longest fog event, NH4 + and nss-SO4 2? in fog water mainly scavenged as (NH4)2SO4, mainly derived from (NH4)2SO4 (aerosol) in the atmosphere, NH3 was scavenged at the growing stage, and SO2 was also scavenged after the mature stage. NO3 ? in this fog event was mainly absorbed as HNO3.  相似文献

We demonstrate logic circuits with field-effect transistors based on single carbon nanotubes. Our device layout features local gates that provide excellent capacitive coupling between the gate and nanotube, enabling strong electrostatic doping of the nanotube from p-doping to n-doping and the study of the nonconventional long-range screening of charge along the one-dimensional nanotubes. The transistors show favorable device characteristics such as high gain (>10), a large on-off ratio (>10(5)), and room-temperature operation. Importantly, the local-gate layout allows for integration of multiple devices on a single chip. Indeed, we demonstrate one-, two-, and three-transistor circuits that exhibit a range of digital logic operations, such as an inverter, a logic NOR, a static random-access memory cell, and an ac ring oscillator.  相似文献

A series of ichthyotoxic and hemolytic steroid aminoglycosides, pavoninins-1, to -6, has been isolated from the defense secretion of the sole Pardachirus pavoninus, and their respective chemical structures have been established by spectroscopic studies and chemical conversions. The pavoninins exert repellent activity against sharks and are considered to be the factors responsible for the predator-repelling property of the sole.  相似文献
