Background
Although the pupal parasitoid Trichopria drosophilae is used in conservative and augmentative biocontrol of Drosophila suzukii infestations, current pest management strategies mostly rely on multiple insecticide applications. In this context, the aim of the study was to investigate the baseline toxicity of nine insecticides on D. suzukii larvae and their multiple sublethal effects (LC10) on immature stages of the pest feeding on contaminated diet and T. drosophilae developing within the intoxicated host.Results
Chlorpyriphos and azadirachtin showed the lowest and the highest LC10, the values of which were 9.78 × 1013 and 1.46 × 103 times lower than their recommended label field rate, respectively. Among tested insecticides, imidacloprid, malathion and dimethoate were the only treatments that did not affect the juvenile development time of D. suzukii, while spinosad and the organophosphates chlorpyriphos and dimethoate did not influence fly pupal size. No sublethal effects were recorded on T. drosophilae degree of infestation (DI) and juvenile development time. On the contrary, cyazypyr and dimethoate negatively affected the success of parasitism (SP) and the number of progeny of the pupal parasitoid, in association with malathion for the first parameter and spinosad for the fertility. Compared to the untreated control, more female progeny emerged following azadirachtin exposure, while dimethoate caused the opposite effect. Imidacloprid, lambda-cyhalothrin and spinetoram decreased hind tibia length of emerged parasitoids.Conclusion
This study provides new insights on the (eco)toxicological profile of nine insecticides and new information needed to support the deployment of T. drosophilae in the field within the sustainable management techniques against D. suzukii. © 2023 The Authors. The dynamics of the serum concentration of protein 27 (P27) of avian leukosis virus and transforming growth factor 2 (TGF-2) were compared during the period between 29 and 59 weeks of age in two flocks of broiler chicken breeding stock undergoing outbreaks of severe lymphoid leukosis (LL) associated with persistent high mortality (susceptible) and in another two flocks of breeding stock with the presence of avian leukosis virus in association with low mortality due to LL (resistant). The average mean concentration of serum P27 in the LL-susceptible flocks was significantly higher (<0.05) than that in the LL-resistant flocks in six out of seven samplings performed at 5-week intervals, between 29 and 59 weeks of age. The peak in the average rise of serum P27 in the LL-resistant flocks (309 pg/ml) was associated with the highest level of TGF-2 (1282 pg/ml) among all flocks and at all sampling times. The significance of TGF-2 in inhibition of lymphoid tumour development is discussed. 相似文献

The Algerian Green Barrier, mainly composed of native and artificial Aleppo pine forests, spreads along the pre-Saharan steppes and is threatened by anthropogenic and natural disturbances, including climate change. We hypothesized that the ecophysiological functioning of this conifer has been substantially modified in reaction to recent warming and drought much beyond the expected effect of CO2 fertilization. Our aim was to characterize the long-term performance (1925–2013) of native Aleppo pines thriving at their southernmost distribution. We used tree-ring width (TRW) and carbon isotope discrimination (Δ13C) to characterize basal area increment (BAI) and intrinsic water-use efficiency (WUEi) at three sites. BAI remained stable or slightly increased over time, with mean values ranging between 4.0 and 6.3 cm2 year?1. Conversely, site-Δ13C decreased from ?0.022 to ?0.014‰ year?1 along time, which translated into WUEi increases of ca. 39%. This strong physiological reaction indicated that pines were responding simultaneously to rising CO2 and drier conditions, inducing a progressively tighter stomatal control of water losses. However, WUEi increments were essentially unrelated to BAI and did not affect carbon reserves, which suggests a high resilience to climate change. This finding could be due to shifts in growing season towards earlier months in winter–spring, as suggested by temporal changes in climate factors underlying Δ13C and TRW. Our study highlights the substantial plasticity of Aleppo pine, but this species is unlikely to follow a similar pace of ecophysiological adjustments according to unprecedented low Δ13C records and lack of WUEi stimulation observed from 2000 onwards. 相似文献

The Posidonia is a sea plant which is abundant on the Tunisian coasts. Important quantities of Posidonia oceanica fragments are accumulated every year on the beaches which must be cleaned every summer. This plant contains an important
ratio of cellulosic materials. On other hand, local sanitary articles industry use important quantities of absorbing materials.
The aim of this work is to take advantage of this available biomass by using it as a raw material for the preparation of some
of these absorbing materials. In this aim three cellulose qualities of various purities are prepared starting from Posidonia wastes and from these three cellulosic materials six qualities of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMCNa) are synthesised,
these qualities differ by there substitution degree. The performances of all these materials are evaluated in term of absorption
and retention capacities. With this end in view, three kinds of liquids are used: the deionized water, the synthetic urine
and the salt solution. Then the evaluated performances are compared with those of some commercial absorbent materials used
in local industries (industrial cellulosic pulp and superabsorbant). This comparison shows that the different prepared CMCNa
have a retention capacity largely higher than those of the commercial cellulosic pulp. The difference can reaches 405 %. The
evaluated absorption capacities of all the prepared CMCNa are generally similar to those of the commercial cellulosic pulp.
However the tested superabsorbant presents, in all cases, the best performances in term of liquid absorption and retention. 相似文献

Whereas H5N1 vaccine and several H5N2 vaccines are commercially available and are used to control H5N1 outbreaks in some endemic countries, infections hit many vaccinated flocks. The following study was conducted to compare the efficacy of such vaccines and to assess their potential induction of antibodies against the haemagglutinin of local H5N1 isolate after single vaccination. The possible beneficiary effect of booster dose at different intervals was screened for both H5N1 vaccine as well as a selected H5N2 candidate. Differences in the serological immune response among native and cross breeds were also screened. No significant variations were detected between available commercial H5N1 and H5N2 vaccines after single vaccination. Two vaccination shots using H5N1 but not H5N2 vaccine were found to be superior to a single vaccination scheme, where chicks developed more conceivable antibody titers than in single vaccination program. There was considerable variation among chicken lines in the immune response to H5N1 vaccine: native breeds possessed the highest antibody titers as compared to other breeds. 相似文献

1. We examined the effects of supplemental dietary vitamin E (Vit E) on semen quality and antioxidative status in male domestic fowls exposed to oxidative stress induced by synthetic glucocorticoid, dexamethasone (DEX) injection. 2. Thirty-six Egyptian local cross males, 42 weeks old, were housed individually in cages in an open-sided building under 16 h light:8 h dark and were provided with commercial feed and water ad libitum. Birds were divided into 4 groups: DEX (4 mg/bird/d), Vit E (200 mg/kg diet), DEX + Vit E (4 mg/bird/d + 200 mg/kg diet, respectively) and control, n = 9. All treatments lasted for 7 continuous days. 3. Oxidative stress induced by injection of DEX (4 mg/bird/d) resulted in decreased sperm count and motility correlated with an increased percentage of dead sperms. Vit E (200 mg/kg diet) enhanced sperm count and viability when supplemented to stress-induced birds, compared to DEX treatment alone. 4. In seminal plasma, low calcium concentration, high lipid peroxidation and reduced activity of glutathione peroxidase were associated with the oxidative stress. Vit E reduced lipid peroxidation in the seminal plasma. 5. In conclusion, excessive supplemental dietary Vit E improved semen quality when cockerels were subjected to stress conditions. It increased both sperm count and motility, reduced the percentage of dead sperm and enhanced the antioxidative status of seminal plasma. 相似文献
