This study examined the effects of Hilyses?, fermented Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Scerevisiae), on rainbow trout growth performance, haematological parameters, digestive enzyme activities and gastrointestinal structure. Rainbow trout (mean weight 100–110 g) were fed dietary Hilyses? (5 g kg?1) and control diet without Hilyses? for 50 days. Results of this study demonstrated that yeast supplementation in treatment group resulted in increased feed intake, followed by improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) and growth performance. Significant increases were also observed in trypsin and amylase activities in juvenile fish fed treatment diet. Light microscopy demonstrated that both groups of fish displayed normal morphology of proximal intestine and pyloric caeca. In yeast‐treated group, higher density of the goblet cells per villus in the proximal intestine was shown. No effects on haematological parameters and carcass chemical composition were noted. It is therefore possible to use fermented Scerevisiae supplementation to significantly improve the gastrointestinal structure and growth performance in rainbow trout.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to determine the analysis of virulence genes and antimicrobial profile of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli isolated from diseased lambs. Two hundred ninety E. coli isolates were recovered from 300 rectal swabs of diarrheic lambs and were confirmed by biochemical tests. The pathotype determination was done according to the presence of genes including f5, f41, LTI, STI, bfp, ipaH, stx 1 , stx 2 , eae, ehlyA, cnf 1 , cnf 2 , cdIII, cdIV, and f17 by PCR method. Sixty-six isolates (23.72%) possessed the STI gene and categorized into entrotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC). Nine isolates (3.1%) and five isolates (1.72%) were positive for the cnf1 and cnf2 genes which categorized into necrotoxic E. coli (NTEC). Hundred and seventeen isolates (40.34%) harbored stx 1 and/or stx 2 and classified as Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC). Thirteen isolates (4.48%) were assigned to atypical entropathogenic E. coli (aEPEC) and possessed eae gene. Two isolates (0.68%) were positive for ipaH gene and were assigned to entroinvasive E. coli (EIEC). Statistical analysis showed a specific association between eae gene and STEC pathotype (P?<?0.0001). The most prevalent resistance was observed against lincomycin (96.5%) and the lowest resistance was against kanamycine (56.02%), respectively. The high prevalence of STEC and ETEC indicates that diarrheic lambs represent an important reservoir for humans. ETEC may play an important role for frequent occurrence of diarrhea in lambs observed in this region. Due to high antibiotic resistance, appropriate control should be implemented in veterinary medicine to curb the development of novel resistant isolates.  相似文献

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most sensitive crops to drought, salt and cold stresses, particularly at post germination stage. The effects of these stresses on some physiological responses of two (a salt tolerant and a sensitive) rice cultivars ‘FL478’ and ‘IR29’ were investigated in this study. Two-day seedlings were transferred to MS media complemented with iso-osmotic concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl; 0, 50, 100, and 150 mM) or mannitol (0, 100, 180, and 275 mM) at 25°C or four and 15°C for 10 days. Experiments were carried out based on completely randomized design, with at least three replicates. All three stresses decreased shoot growth, chlorophylls, carotenoids and root starch while increased shoot soluble sugars. The effect of exerted cold stress on growth, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and malonyldialdehyde levels, electrolyte leakage, chlorophylls and carotenoids contents was more than or comparable with drought, but greater than salinity. The results also indicated higher tolerance of ‘‘FL478’’ not only to salinity but also to drought compared to ‘‘IR29’’. Therefore, a mechanism for osmotic stress adjustment is probable in ‘‘FL478’’ in addition to low sodium (Na+) to potassium (K+) ratio in shoot tissues under salinity.  相似文献

Equipping tines with the wings increases draft and soil loosening. Wing angles affect tine performance, soil aggregation and remained residue. In this research, conventional wing with no bent plus backward and forward bent wings with bend angles of 10 and 20° were attached to both a subsoiler and paraplow tine. The rake angle of all wings was 15°. The effects of tine and wing on draft, soil disturbance area, specific draft, remained residue, and mean weight diameter (MWD) were investigated in a clay loam soil at depth of 40 cm and speed of 1.6 km h?1. The effect of tine and wing plus interaction of them on all parameters was significant (p < 0.01) with the exception of remained residue. The bent-winged tines required higher draft and caused higher disturbance area, lower specific draft, and lower MWD than the conventional tines and those without wing. The highest draft, disturbed area and remained residue plus the lowest specific draft and MWD were obtained when applying the 10° forward bent-winged tines. In present work, the paraplow equipped with forward bent wings with a bend angle of 10° was suggested as a suitable tool for deep soil loosening under a conservation tillage system.  相似文献

The virulence properties of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) strains isolated from diarrhoeic and non-diarrhoeic calves were compared. The strains were also tested for O157:H7, O111 and O26 serotypes, using PCR and conventional serotyping methods. E coli strains isolated from 297 faecal samples, from 200 diarrhoeic and 97 non-diarrhoeic calves, were screened by multiplex PCR assay for the stx1, stx2, eae and Ehly virulence genes. STECs were recovered from 8 per cent of diarrhoeic calves and 10.3 per cent of non-diarrhoeic calves. The predominant virulence gene profile was stx1/eae/Ehly (47.3 per cent) among isolates from diarrhoeic calves and eae/Ehly (36.8 per cent) among isolates from non-diarrhoeic calves. Among three tested serogroups, the predominant serogroup was O26 (18.4 per cent), and O157:H7 was not detected. Intimin subtyping by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis revealed only three intimin subtypes (β, γ and ). A significant difference was observed in the distribution of Int- between two groups. Int- was present in 50 per cent of the isolates from diarrhoeic calves and in 11.1 per cent of the isolates from non-diarrhoeic calves; this difference was statistically significant (P=0.01).  相似文献

Twenty sites representing the typical range of grass‐based beef and dairy production management intensity in Ireland were used to assess soil structural quality with the Visual Evaluation of Soil Structure (VESS) method combined with laboratory analysis. The results showed that VESS was suitable for assessing soil structural quality for grassland productivity. According to the threshold values proposed by Ball [Soil Use and Management (2007), 23 , 329–337] for management intervention, all fields except one in this study were between Sq 1 and Sq 3, indicating that the typical range of management intensity does not cause undue soil damage and can be regarded as sustainable for soil structure. There was an indication that as intensification increases, temperate maritime grassland soils showed signs of degradation with respect to soil structure for maintaining grass productivity. While reseeding might solve some problems, it causes others due to the release of soil carbon. This raises the prospect that ‘sustainable intensification’ of livestock production may be limited by the health of the soil resource that supports it. Significant negative correlations between Sq and soil C content (< 0.01) and between Sq and soil N content (< 0.05) were observed, indicating a close relationship between soil structure and soil carbon and nitrogen.  相似文献

Broodfish were reared for 6 months in underground brackish water (11 ppt), and the quality of eggs and semen was evaluated in comparison to broodfish held in fresh water. Fry produced by the broodfish in brackish water (S) and freshwater (F) were then reared in different salinities (1, 4, 7, and 10 ppt). Broodfish successfully matured and spawned in underground brackish water, and gonad quality was better than of the broodfish in fresh water (p < 0.01). Growth indices of fry produced by both groups decreased with increasing salinity (p < 0.01). Survival was not affected by the salinities tested. Underground brackish water can be used as a source to induce successful sexual maturation and to produce high-quality gonads.  相似文献

Salt toxicity comprises of osmotic and ionic components both of which can severely affect root and shoot growth. In many crop species, supplemental calcium (Ca) reduces the inhibition of growth typical of exposure to salt stress. The objective of this study was to compare whole plant growth and physiological responses to interactive effect of salinity and Ca level on three forage species [African millet (AM), tall wheat grass (TW), and perennial ryegrass (PR)] differing in tolerance to sodium chloride (NaCl) salinity. Plants were grown under glasshouse condition and supplied with nutrient solution containing 0, 100, and 250 mM NaCl supplemented with 0.5, 5, or 10 mM calcium chloride (CaCl2). Plant growth, ionic concentration, water relations, and solute (proline and glycinebetaine) concentrations of the plants were determined two weeks after the salinity treatments. At 100 mM NaCl, there was a moderate reduction in dry matter (DM) production of all three species. A drastic decrease in DM occurred at 250 mM NaCl. Supplemental Ca reduced the adverse effects of salinity on all three species. The TW showed higher shoot and root growth in 100 and 250 mM NaCl than AM and PR. It also showed the highest DM at 5 and 10 mM Ca supplement. The shoot and root DM of TW increased by about 45 and 15%, respectively compared to the control. Chemical analysis indicated that in TW, Ca restricted both uptake and transport of sodium (Na) from root to shoot. It also increased Ca and potassium (K) concentrations in both organs. The transport of K and Ca from root to shoot of AM and PR were decreased by NaCl, but were restored with increasing Ca in the medium. The opposite occurred for Na. In PR, more K uptake was observed in shoot at 250 mM NaCl with 10 mM Ca supplement. The sap osmotic potential (ΨS) was the highest in TW at 10 mM Ca in the presence of 250 mM NaCl. Contribution of various solutes to the difference in ΨS among the species from the control and 250 mM salt treatment differed greatly. Supplemental Ca induced decline in the leaf ΨS of TW which was predominately due to K, glycinebetaine, Na and proline accumulation. Addition of 10 mM Ca to the growth medium maintained a low Na and a high K level. Accumulation of glycinebetaine and proline in leaf contributed the NaCl tolerance of TW. The presented results suggest that supplement Ca, not only improved ionic relations but also induced plant ability in production of compatible solutes (glycinebetaine and proline) and osmotic adjustment. Accordingly, genotype dependent capacity could be found using supplemental Ca.  相似文献
