Optimum concentrations and/or sufficiency ranges of nutrients are useful for a correct diagnosis and improvement of nutrient status of cultivated plants. To develop boundary‐line approach (BLA) standards for Opuntia ficus‐indica L., a database of N, P, K, Ca, and Mg concentrations in 1‐year‐old cladodes and cladodes fresh‐matter yield was used. The BLA optimum concentrations (associated with estimated maximum yield) for O. ficus‐indica were: N = 13.1 g kg–1, P = 3.2 g kg–1, K = 44.4 g kg–1, Ca = 38.1 g kg–1, and Mg = 17.3 g kg–1. The BLA sufficiency ranges at 95% yield were 8.4–20.3 g kg–1 for N, 2.4–4.2 g kg–1 for P, 38.2–50.8 g kg–1 K, 31.8–45.2 g kg–1 for Ca, and 14.3–20.9 g kg–1 for Mg. The BLA standards are comparable to those obtained in a previous study using compositional‐nutrient‐diagnosis (CND) approach.  相似文献

The potential benefit of integrating mangrove and shrimp farms to protect ponds against erosion, to enhance the productivity of supply water and also to treat pond effluents has been pointed out previously. Agrosoledad, a 286‐ha shrimp farm located on the Caribbean coast of Colombia, was constructed behind a 1‐km‐wide mangrove area. Farm effluents are partially recirculated through a 120‐ha mangrove wetland used as a biofilter. A 3‐month study compared the concentrations of suspended solids and inorganic nutrients in the supply canal, the pond drainage and the biofilter. Suspended solids increased in pond drainage compared with supply water, but they were drastically reduced in the biofilter. In contrast, dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus concentrations were not different in supply water and pond drainage, but they increased in the biofilter because of the presence of a large marine bird community. Additionally, a significant decrease in dissolved oxygen and pH was observed in the biofilter. The study demonstrated the efficiency of the system to eliminate suspended solids from the effluent. However, nutrient dynamics showed that the possible use of mangrove wetlands as biofilters for effluent treatment will be less predictable than expected.  相似文献

The effects of butyric acid were evaluated on fungal and nematode endo-parasites of strawberries under controlled laboratory conditions. Verticillium dahliae, Rhizoctonia fragariae, R. solani, Phytophthora fragariae, and a Pythium sp. were killed after a 2-d incubation in butryic acid-treated sand (0.88 and 8.8 mg g−1). No fungal growth occurred in the presence of vapors from 0.1 and 1 M butyric acid solutions. Gall formation on tomato roots by Meloidogyne hapla, and M. incognita was reduced by 73-100% relative to controls when egg masses were incubated in butyric acid solution (0.1, 1 M) or treated sand (0.88 and 8.8 mg g−1). Drenching strawberry plants infested with Pratylenchus penetrans with butyric acid (0.1 and 1 M) reduced nematode densities by 98-100%. These results suggest that butyric acid warrants further evaluation as an alternative to synthetic soil fumigants for control of nematodes and fungal pathogens in strawberry.  相似文献

An efficient analytical method is described for the analysis of dicofol residues in pulp and orange peel. Samples are mixed with Celite and transferred to chromatographic columns prepacked with silica gel. Dicofol is eluted with ethyl acetate, and the extracts are analyzed by gas chromatography with electron capture detection. Mean recoveries for dicofol at levels of 0.5, 2.0, 5.0, and 10 mg/kg ranged from 87 to 95% with relative standard deviation values between 2.6 and 9.0%. To investigate the effect of a pilot washing system on dicofol residues in oranges, the analytical procedure was applied to samples submitted to different treatments with commercial formulations under field and laboratory conditions. The orange samples with and without washing were analyzed in duplicate, and the results indicated that washing under the described conditions did not allow a complete removal of dicofol residues from orange peel.  相似文献

Two Elsholtzia haichowensis S. populations, copper-tolerant (TLS) and non-tolerant (HA) ones were studied in hydroponic experiment for the nitrogen assimilation and plant growth under excess Cu conditions. The results demonstrated that there were surely the differences in nitrogen assimilation and plant growth between the two populations. Excess Cu caused evident decreases in the shoot and root biomass and root/shoot biomass ratio in HA population while no significant changes happened in TLS population. In addition, in HA population, excess Cu also induced apparent declines in activities of nitrate reductase (NR, EC 1.6.6.1) and glutamine synthetase (GS, EC 6.3.1.2) in the leaves and roots as well as the contents of nitrate, ammonium and amino acids in the roots. In TLS population, excess Cu did not significantly affect the NR activities in the leaves and roots and the nitrate content in the roots, and apparently elevated the root ammonium and amino acids contents, although it also clearly reduced the GS activities in the leaves and roots. Besides, with the addition of Cu in the culture solution, the Cu contents in the leaves and roots of the two populations markedly increased. But this increase was significantly lower in TLS population than that in HA population; the fact might be partly responsible for the relative stabilization of nitrogen assimilation in TLS population compared to that in HA population.  相似文献

This research was done with the purpose to ascertain the biological feasibility of the culture of Crassostrea virginica (Gmelin 1971) at Rio Lagartos lagoon in Yucatán, México. Spat from two localities of the Golfo de México were grown in Nestier boxes: spat from Tamiahua, Veracruz, which had an initial average height of 22.50 ± 5.10 (SD) mm and initial total wet weight of 2.90 ± 1.64 g and spat from Mecoacán, Tabasco, that were 32.05 ± 4.50 mm and 5.53 ± 0.03 g, respectively. Both groups of oysters reached commercial size after 10 months of culture. Veracruz spat reached 65.00 ± 6.80 mm in height and 33.26 ± 7.02 g in total wet weight. Those from Tabasco reached 62.90 ± 6.70 mm in height and 33.97 ± 9.95 g in total wet weight. The mean physiological condition index for oysters from Tabasco was 5.96% and from Veracruz was 4.52%. Total survival rate was 63% for spat from Veracruz and 55% from Tabasco. Environmental conditions in the culture area proved to be favourable for the rearing of C. virginica.  相似文献

Advanced nitrogen-removal onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) are used to reduce total nitrogen (N) levels in domestic wastewater. Maintaining system performance requires regular monitoring and in situ rapid tests can provide an inexpensive option for assessing treatment performance. We used a portable photometer to measure ammonium and nitrate concentrations in final effluent from 46 advanced N-removal OWTS, sampling each site at least three times in 2017. To assess photometer accuracy, we compared measurements made using the photometer with those determined by standard laboratory methods using linear regression analysis and a two-tailed t test to compare regression parameters to those for a perfect linear relationship (slope?=?1, intercept?=?0). Our results show that photometer-based analysis reliably estimates inorganic N (ammonium and nitrate) concentration in field and laboratory settings. Photometer-based analysis of the sum of inorganic N species also consistently approximated the total N concentration in the final effluent from the systems. A cost-benefit analysis indicated that the photometer is a more cost-effective option than having samples analyzed by commercial environmental testing laboratories after analysis of 8 to 33 samples. A portable photometer can be used to provide reliable, cost-effective measurements of ammonium and nitrate concentrations, and estimates of total N levels in advanced N-removal OWTS effluent. This method can be a viable tool for triaging system performance in the field, helping to identify systems that are not functioning properly and may need to be adjusted or repaired by an operation and maintenance service provider in order to meet treatment standards.  相似文献

Iranian wheat landrace accessions (IWAs) were collected from country‐wide farm fields and market places in 1935 by a professor at the University of Tehran and shared with University of California at Davis, California. IWAs were further submitted to the genebank of International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), Mexico. 2,403 IWAs from CIMMYT’s genebank were assayed by DArT‐seq technology to assess genetic diversity. No apparent ecogeographic patterns related to genetic diversity were detected, probably due to long‐term transport and frequent interchange of landraces among farmers. A multivariate clustering procedure combining genotypic and phenotypic information was used in selecting a core‐set, which represented 15% of the hexaploid wheat accessions included in this study. This subset captured an estimated 93% of rare (frequency <0.05) alleles. Multisite phenotypic data (India, Mexico) validated the ability of the core‐set in detecting useful variants. Potential donor accessions for multiple traits (disease resistance, zinc concentration) were identified from the core‐set for wheat‐breeding. This report illustrates a breeder friendly robust core‐set formulation strategy for harnessing the useful genetic variation stored in the genebanks.  相似文献

While the benefits of earthworms to crop production are widely acknowledged, the mechanisms involved are poorly understood. We examined the effects of an anecic earthworm (Lumbricus terrestris) on the distribution of plant residue N in a corn (Zea mays)/soil system. Soil (mixed Ap and B horizons) mesocosms (10 cm diameter, 39 cm deep) were amended with 15N-labeled corn litter, inoculated with one earthworm per mesocosm (WORM) or none (CTRL), and pre-incubated for 1, 2 or 3 weeks. Earthworms and remaining plant residues were removed and sweet corn grown in the mesocosms in a greenhouse for 3 weeks. Litter, earthworms, shoots, roots and bulk and burrow soil were analyzed for total N and 15N. Plant and earthworm biomass were also determined. Earthworms had no significant effect on the N content of shoots, roots or bulk soil. Recovery of 15N ranged from 92.6 to 101.9% in CTRL and 60.2 to 83.2% in the WORM treatment. The 15N content of bulk soil in the WORM treatment was significantly higher than in CTRL and increased with pre-incubation time. Excess at.% 15N of burrow soil was 10–100 times higher than in bulk soil. Incorporation of 15N by shoots and roots was significantly higher in the WORM treatment and increased significantly with pre-incubation time only in the WORM treatment. In WORM mesocosms pre-incubated for 3 weeks, the distribution of added 15N was 9.8% in litter, 6.5% in plant, 31.5% in soil, 12.0% in earthworms and 39.8% presumably lost as gas; in CTRL mesocosms, the values were 75.7% in litter, 3.2% in plant, 13.7% in soil and 7.4% in presumed gas losses. The activities of L. terrestris altered the distribution of plant residue N significantly, increasing the transfer of N to plants and soil and enhancing losses of N in the gas phase as pre-incubation time increased.  相似文献

The aim of this trial was to study the effects of dietary protein content during the rearing period on the performance of mule ducks, according to age at overfeeding (O). Ducks (n = 612) were divided into four groups differing in the protein content in the diet offered during the starting period (S, 0–20 days; Sl vs. Sh: 150 vs. 175 g/kg crude protein (CP)) and growing‐finishing period (GF; 21–67 or 81 days, depending on age at O; GFl vs. GFh: 133 vs. 152 g/kg CP). The relative weight of pectoral muscle was lower when ducks were fed a low protein diet during S (?5%, < 0.01) or GF period (?6%, < 0.001) at 68 days and higher in ducks of the SlGFh group (+6%; < 0.05) at 82 days. Both foie gras and magret weights fell when ducks were fed Sl or GFl (< 0.05 and < 0.01). Mortality during the O period was higher in ducks fed the Sl diet and overfed at late age (7.4% vs. 0%; < 0.01). In conclusion, a reduction in the dietary protein supply should be recommended only during the GF period for ducks overfed at a late age.  相似文献
