The present study reports data on the skull bone morphometry of barking and sambar deer. The skulls of adult barking deer (n = 6) and sambar deer (n = 6) of either sex (n = 3 males and n = 3 females) were collected from the Aizawl Zoological Park, Aizawl, Mizoram, India, with official permission from the Government of Mizoram. Anatomically, barking and sambar deer's skulls were elongated, pyramid-like, dolichocephalic and consisted of thirty-two cranial and facial bones. The cranial bones were eleven (three single and four paired), comprising of occipital, sphenoid, ethmoid, frontal, interparietal, parietal and temporal. The facial bones were twenty-one (one single and ten were paired), consisting of the maxilla, premaxilla (incisive), palatine, pterygoid, nasal, lacrimal, zygomatic (malar), vomer, turbinates, mandible and hyoid. In the present study, altogether 41 different measurements were taken morphologically and 6 different indices were applied. The obtained morphometrical parameters were significantly (p < .01, p < .05) higher in males than females of both species. Species wise, all obtained parameters were higher in sambar deer than barking deer. The obtained 41 different skull parameters and 6 indices showed statistically significant differences (p < .01 and p < .05) between both sexes of barking and sambar deer; however, practically these differences were meagre. The present morphometrical study on the skull of both species can help the wildlife professionals and zoo veterinarians determine the sex of these animals and differentiate it from other domestic and wild small ruminants for solving veterolegal cases. Polyvinylpyrrolidone/date palm leaf fiber (PVP/DPL) biocomposites were prepared by melt mixing fabrication technique with different weight percentage of fibers. DPL fibers were chemically modified by acrylic acid in order to have better dispersion and compatibility with PVP matrix. The interaction of DPL fibers with PVP matrix was studied by Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) was used for the study the morphology of chemically modified DPL fibers and PVP/DPL biocomposites. Mechanical properties were improved with fiber loading due to strong interfacial adhesion between PVP and DPL fibers. The storage modulus, loss modulus and tan delta values of PVA/DPL biocomposites were measured by DMTA. The rheological properties were investigated to study the shearing storage and loss modulii along with complex viscosity of biocomposites. The thermal and conducting properties of biocomposites were measured and compared with that of virgin PVP. 相似文献

Identification of a small core germplasm set representing the available genetic diversity is essential for its proper evaluation and subsequent utilization in rice improvement programmes. For constituting a small diverse mini‐core panel of Indian rice germplasm, a representative set of 6912 accessions drawn based on their geographic origin from the whole rice germplasm collection available in the National Gene Bank was genotyped using 36 microsatellite markers. Automated fragment analysis of amplicons yielded a total of 435 alleles, with an average 12.4 and range of 3–29 alleles per locus. Polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.08 (RGNMS190) to 0.86 (RM552) with an average of 0.528. Based on genotyping data, a mini‐core consisting of 98 genotypes was identified. Ninety‐four per cent of the alleles present in the core set were present in the mini‐core. The identified small but diverse panel will be useful for further intensive trait‐specific evaluation and utilization in allele mining. 相似文献

The impact of resource management on productivity and sustainability of the species was evaluated by investigating the population
status and regeneration in Cachar tropical semi evergreen forest under private property resource management (PPRM) and common
property resource management (CPRM) regimes. Population status revealed current-year, one-year, two-year and three-year-old
culms contribute 54%, 24%, 16% and 6% of the total culms per clump, respectively, under PPRM. Three-year-old culms were absent
in CPRM and population status was thus represented by current year (83%), one-year (16%) and two-year (1%) old culms. Net
change, rate of change and % gain in population for different age classes showed the prevalence of management practices under
CPRM was unscientific. Efficiency of new culm production per clump used as an index of regeneration was 69.7% in PPRM and
59.88% in CPRM. New culms produced under CPRM were small and thin. We conclude that CPRM is inappropriate for a long term
economic and ecological sustainability of the species and alternative management protocols are needed for conservation of

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of proline and glutamine on in vitro callus induction and subsequent regeneration and to develop a reproducible and highly efficient plant regeneration protocol in four rice genotypes, viz. Pawana, Jaya, Indrayani and Ambemohar. Considerable variation in response to plant growth regulators and amino acid supplements used was observed in all the four genotypes. Medium supplemented with proline and glutamine was shown to be superior to medium without proline and glutamine. The best callusing from mature embryo was observed on Murashige and Skoog(MS) medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D), 500 mg/L proline and 500 mg/L glutamine. Shoot induction was higher in the callus obtained from medium supplemented with 500 mg/L proline and 500 mg/L glutamine. The highest shoot regeneration frequency(83.2%) was observed on MS medium with 2.0 mg/L benzylaminopurine, 0.5 mg/L 1-naphthaleneacetic acid, 500 mg/L proline, and 500 mg/L glutamine in the callus obtained from MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L 2,4-D, 500 mg/L proline and 500 mg/L glutamine. Among the four genotypes, Pawana has the highest regeneration efficiency(83.2%), whereas the regeneration efficiency of the rest three rice genotypes was in the range of 32.0% to 72.3%. This optimized regeneration protocol can be efficiently used for Agrobacterium mediated genetic transformation in rice. 相似文献

In the past 5 years, the incidence of canine skin infections caused by resistant strains of Staphylococcus (pseud)intermedius has increased. Many older antibiotics are used to treat these infections because the sensitivity can be demonstrated in vitro. Additionally, many of these older drugs are efficacious and unlikely to induce multidrug resistance. More than a decade ago, the antibiotic tylosin tartrate was reported to be efficacious in vitro and in vivo against Staphylococcus intermedius. The purpose of this study was to determine whether S. (pseud)intermedius isolated from untreated pyoderma cases at veterinary referral centers across the United States are sensitive in vitro to this antibiotic. Minimum inhibitory concentrations for tylosin tartrate and other commonly used antibiotics were determined for 103 isolates. Most (82.61%) of the isolates not exposed to antibiotics in the 3 months before submission were sensitive to tylosin tartrate. These findings suggest that tylosin tartrate warrants further study as a first-line option for the treatment of dogs initially presenting with pyoderma. 相似文献

A wild non-progenitor species from wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) tertiary gene pool, Aegilops peregrina (Hack.) Maire & Weiller accession pau3519 (UUSS), was used for introgression of leaf rust (caused by Puccinia triticina) and stripe rust (caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici) resistance in bread wheat. The accession was crossed and backcrossed with hexaploid wheat line Chinese Spring PhI to develop two homozygous BC2F6 wheat-Ae. peregrina introgression lines (ILs), viz., IL pau16058 and IL pau16061, through induced homoeologous recombination. Homozygous lines were screened against six Puccinia triticina and two Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici pathotypes at the seedling stage and a mixture of prevalent pathotypes of both species at the adult plant stage. IL pau16061 showed resistance to leaf rust only, whereas IL pau16058 was resistant to both leaf and stripe rust pathotypes throughout plant life. Molecular profiling of these ILs with simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers indicated that alien introgressions were mainly terminal and very few were interstitial. Identification of linked markers with advanced genomic technologies will aid in marker-assisted pyramiding of alien genes in cultivated wheat background. 相似文献
