A lysimeter experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of water table management (WTM) on distribution of soil salinity and annual alfalfa (Medicago scutellata) yield. Subirrigations with three levels of water table namely, 0.5 (WT0.5), 0.7 (WT0.7), and 1.0 m (WT1.0) and a free drainage (FD) conventional irrigation treatment were selected for this study. All treatments were arranged in a complete randomized block design with three replicates. The results of this study indicated that the average soil electrical conductivity of the saturated extract (ECe) in the root zone gradually increased and exceeded the designated crop threshold value (4 dS/m) after the first forage harvest in subirrigated lysimeters. A higher salt accumulation was observed at the WT0.5 treatment. The average dry matter yield of annual alfalfa in WT0.5 and WT0.7 treatments was found to be 52 and 73% higher compared with the control treatment, respectively.  相似文献

Epicuticular waxes have vital roles in the growth and development of plants and in defense. Conifers have a considerable amount of waxes on their cones and leaves.Here we characterized the n-alkane composition of Iranian conifers, including Juniperus oblonga, J. foetidissima, J.sabina, J. communis subsp. hemisphaerica, J. excelsa,Cupressus sempervirens, Platycladus orientalis from Cupressaceae and Taxus baccata from Taxaceae for the first time using GC-FID analyses. In the waxes, 25 n-alkane homologs with chain lengths ranging from C7 to C32 were identified. Short-chain n-alkanes were dominant in almost all samples with some exceptions. Complementary studies to elucidate complete wax constituents of Iranian conifers and n-alkane distribution pattern as a function of geographical and bioclimatic variables are recommended.  相似文献

The study was conducted in Taftan rangeland in Sistan and Baluchestan, Iran, to study the effects of grazing exclusion on reclamation of vegetation cover and soil properties. After a comprehensive assessment of the vegetation types, plant sampling was carried out in sampling stands (50?×?50?m). In each stand, vegetation properties were measured using simple transect lines (50?m) method within quadrats (5?×?5?m), with a systematically randomized method. Soil sampling (75 samples) was performed along transects from the surface layer (0–30?cm). Results showed that livestock exclusion significantly affected community characteristics. The species richness (14.32), diversity (2.97), and plant cover (65.14%) showed their maximum level in the 15-year exclusion. The soil nutrient content increased during exclusion. Organic carbon (4.20%), total nitrogen (1.12%), available potassium (393.33?mg?kg?1), and available phosphorus content (17.13?mg?kg?1) attained significantly greater values under the long-term exclusion. The soil pH level (8.93) was significantly higher in the overgrazed site compared to the grazing exclusion sites. The soil electrical conductivity was statistically similar under the three treatments. The amounts of silt (63.40%) and clay (14%) were greater in the long-term exclusion compared with overgrazed rangeland. The long-term exclusion showed the lowest amount of sand (22.50%). These results imply that livestock exclusion plays an important role in vegetation restoration and soil conservation of degraded ecosystems in arid regions. We suggest that more studies are required to investigate the effect of livestock exclusion on ecosystem process in the arid rangeland regeneration.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is one of the world’s important oil crops. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of salt stress on physiological and biochemical parameters of sesame and assess the improvement of salt tolerance by Penconazole (PEN). Plants were treated with various NaCl concentrations (0, 50, 100, and 200 mM) without or with PEN (15 mg L?1). Salt stress inhibited the growth in sesame. Our results showed sesame plant under salinity used of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic system and compatible osmolytes to overcome on oxidative and osmotic stress, respectively. PEN improved the growth and reduced the negative effects of salinity in sesame. In fact, PEN increased the resistance of this plant under salt stress by improving the antioxidant system and osmotic regulation. Thus, this compound can be used as stress-ameliorating agents in this crop plant.  相似文献

Background:FH, a hereditary disorder, is caused by pathogenic variants in the LDLR, APOB, and PCSK9 genes. This study has assessed genetic variants in a family, clinically diagnosed with FH. Methods:A family was recruited from MASHAD study in Iran with possible FH based on the Simon Broom criteria. The DNA sample of an affected individual (proband) was analyzed using WES, followed by bioinformatics and segregation analyses. Results:A novel splice site variant (c.345-2A>G) was detected in the LDLRAP1 gene, which was segregated in all affected family members. Moreover, HMGCR rs3846662 g.23092A>G was found to be homozygous (G/G) in the proband, probably leading to reduced response to simvastatin and pravastatin. Conclusion:LDLRAP1 c.345-2A>G could alter the PTB, which acts as an important part of biological pathways related to lipid metabolism. All of steady and non-steady subsurface drainage equations were developed mostly based on water flow pattern in an ordinary field conditions. However, subsurface drainage in a paddy field is quite different from subsurface drainage in an ordinary field. Thus, it is necessary to develop new equations and mathematical models to design subsurface drainage system in a paddy field. The objective of this study was to apply the HYDRUS-2D model, based on the Richard’s equation, to simulate water flow under subsurface drainage in a paddy field for various drain depths (0.5, 0.75 and 1.0 m) and spacings (7.5 and 15.0 m), surface soil textures (clay loam and silty clay loam) and crack conditions. Simulation results were compared with two well-known drainage equations. The maximum drainage rate was obtained under 7.5-m spacings and 1-m depth. With increasing drain spacings, the drainage rate decreased. Drain spacings had more effect on drainage rate and water pressure head as compared to drain depth. Drainage rates calculated by the Hooghoudt’s and Murashima and Ogino’s equations were much lower than those calculated by the Richard’s equation. The Hooghoudt’s equation, developed for ordinary fields, did not perform well for paddy fields. This study also proved the importance of cracks in subsurface drainage system of paddy fields. HYDRUS-2D stands as a robust tool for designing subsurface drainage in a paddy field.  相似文献

Optimisation of the mineral composition of the nutrient solution is one of the most important factors affecting crop productivity and quality under hydroponic cultivation. Considering the role of minerals in nutrition and the lack of studies on the K+:Ca++ ratio of nutrient solution on fruit quality, a study was carried out to evaluate the effects of K+:Ca++ ratios on growth, yield, vitamin C content of the fruit and total carbohydrate and phenolic compounds of the ‘Paros’ strawberry under hydroponic conditions. The highest total phenolic compounds, photosynthetic capacity, including leaf area, photosynthetic pigments, stomatal conductance and yield were observed at the 1.4 ratio (K > Ca). Enzymatic (peroxidase, superoxide dismutase and catalase) and non-enzymatic (total phenol, phenolic compounds and anthocyanin) antioxidant capacities were affected significantly by the K+:Ca++ ratio. The highest antioxidant capacity was observed in ratios with K > Ca in the solution. We recommend growers to maintain an appropriate K+:Ca++ ratio in the nutrient solution, as this affects growth parameters, productivity and strawberry quality.  相似文献
