牛膝细胞转化苗的田间培植

经过近1年的实验室工作,于1997年5月得到发育良好的牛膝细胞转化苗.1997年6月将室内培植14日的6棵幼苗移栽至田间.种植1O日后去弱保留3棵.1997年1O月收获种子.一部分留样,一部分于1998年5月进行田间播种,扩大种植.     

棉枯萎抗性形成规律的发现与抗性定向培育法

采用棉枯萎人工病床病圃连续群体选择法发现，枯萎抗性转化现象和抗性形成规律：所有供试原感病高产优质品种在病菌连续入侵条件下，病床病株率逐年逐代下降，矮化症状逐年逐代缓解，群体高度逐年逐代上升，表明抗性逐年逐代提高。经５年左右均转化为高抗品种，为寄主免疫功能渐变性定向的遗传适应变异和后天获得抗性遗传的累加作用结果，病理学和生化分析均证实这一解释。获得高抗性后，原品种之丰产性和品质也有改进，不存在抗性丰产性品质间的遗传反相关关系，从而创棉枯萎抗性定向培育原理方法。１９７４～１９９４年，此法已育成抗性、丰产性、品质三兼优或二兼优品种和资源３０余个。     

New horizons mapping of Europa and Ganymede

The New Horizons spacecraft observed Jupiter's icy satellites Europa and Ganymede during its flyby in February and March 2007 at visible and infrared wavelengths. Infrared spectral images map H2O ice absorption and hydrated contaminants, bolstering the case for an exogenous source of Europa's "non-ice" surface material and filling large gaps in compositional maps of Ganymede's Jupiter-facing hemisphere. Visual wavelength images of Europa extend knowledge of its global pattern of arcuate troughs and show that its surface scatters light more isotropically than other icy satellites.     

Quantitative analysis of culture using millions of digitized books

We constructed a corpus of digitized texts containing about 4% of all books ever printed. Analysis of this corpus enables us to investigate cultural trends quantitatively. We survey the vast terrain of 'culturomics,' focusing on linguistic and cultural phenomena that were reflected in the English language between 1800 and 2000. We show how this approach can provide insights about fields as diverse as lexicography, the evolution of grammar, collective memory, the adoption of technology, the pursuit of fame, censorship, and historical epidemiology. Culturomics extends the boundaries of rigorous quantitative inquiry to a wide array of new phenomena spanning the social sciences and the humanities.     

Geologic exploration of taurus-littrow: apollo 17 landing site

Apollo 17 landed in a deep graben valley embaying the mountainous highlands southeast of the Serenitatis basin. Impact-generated breccias underlie the massifs adjacent to the valley, and basalt has flooded and leveled the valley floor. The dark mantle inferred from orbital photographs was not recognized as a discrete unit; the unusually thick regolith of the valley floor contains a unique high concentration of dark glass beads that may cause the low albedo of much of the surface.     

外来农民工融入城市的非制度性障碍分析

城市化、工业化的进程中,大量农村剩余劳动力涌入城市寻找生计,并最终滞留在城市成为市民,这是世界许多国家都有过的历程,也是城市化的普遍规律.“十一五“时期,中国将进入城市化加速期,外来农民工将成为城市化的主角.然而,从目前形势看,我国农民工融入城市的进程十分缓慢,他们绝大多数被排斥在城市主流社会之外,成为城市“边缘人“.农民工市民化障碍重重,既有制度性障碍,也有政策、观念、文化、习俗等非制度性因素,对非制度性因素进行深入分析和探索,并提出解决问题的方法,有助于农民工真正融入城市社会,实现市民化.     

Seismic imaging of the downwelling Indian lithosphere beneath central Tibet

A tomographic image of the upper mantle beneath central Tibet from INDEPTH data has revealed a subvertical high-velocity zone from approximately 100- to approximately 400-kilometers depth, located approximately south of the Bangong-Nujiang Suture. We interpret this zone to be downwelling Indian mantle lithosphere. This additional lithosphere would account for the total amount of shortening in the Himalayas and Tibet. A consequence of this downwelling would be a deficit of asthenosphere, which should be balanced by an upwelling counterflow, and thus could explain the presence of warm mantle beneath north-central Tibet.
