The use of plant water status indicators such as midday stem water potential (Ψstem) and maximum daily trunk shrinkage (MDS) in irrigation scheduling requires the definition of a reference or threshold value, beyond which irrigation is necessary. These reference values are generally obtained by comparing the seasonal variation of plant water status with the environmental conditions under non-limiting soil water availability. In the present study an alternative approach is presented based on the plant’s response to water deficit. A drought experiment was carried out on two apple cultivars (Malus domestica Borkh. ‘Mutsu’ and ‘Cox Orange’) in which both indicators (Ψstem and MDS) were related to several plant physiological responses. Sap flow rates, maximum net photosynthesis rates and daily radial stem growth (DRSG) (derived from continuous stem diameter variation measurements) were considered in the assessment of the approach. Depending on the chosen plant response in relationship with Ψstem or MDS, the obtained reference values varied between −1.04 and −1.46 MPa for Ψstem and between 0.17 and 0.28 mm for MDS. In both cultivars, the approach based on maximum photosynthesis rates resulted in less negative Ψstem values and smaller MDS values, compared to the approaches with sap flow and daily radial stem growth. In the well-irrigated apple trees, day-to-day variations in midday Ψstem and MDS were related to the evaporative demand. These variations were more substantial for MDS than for midday Ψstem.  相似文献

Nowadays, hop is used almost exclusively by brewers for bitterness and flavor. Although hop polyphenols have been widely studied in the past decade for their antioxidant activity in the boiling kettle, very little is known about their real impact on health. The discovery of resveratrol in hop pellets highlights the potential health-promoting effect of moderate beer consumption. Here, we have optimized a quantitative extraction procedure for resveratrol in hop pellets. Preliminary removal of hydrophobic bitter compounds with toluene and cyclohexane at room temperature allows 99% trans-resveratrol recovery by ethanol:water (75:25, v/v) solid/liquid extraction at 60 degrees C. Reverse phase liquid chromatography proves an excellent means of separating isomers. In addition, we have compared two mass spectrometry ionization methods-atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and electrospray ionization (ESI)-in both the positive and the negative modes. On the basis of standard additions applied with the optimized extraction procedure and reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography-APCI(+)-tandem mass spectrometry, it appears that Tomahawk hop pellets (T90, harvest 2002) contain 0.5 ppm trans-resveratrol, 2 ppm trans-piceid, no cis-resveratrol, and 0.9 ppm cis-piceid.  相似文献

The surface run-off of a number of pesticides (diuron, isoproturon, atrazine, alachlor, aclonifen, trifluralin, lindane and simazine), chosen for their range of adsorption behaviours, was studied using simulated rainfall applied to small plots over a short time (one hour). Pesticides were applied together onto bare soil using two different sandy loam soils from Jaillière and Coet Dan sites. The surface run-off samples were collected throughout the running of the event and concentrations of pesticides were measured in both liquid and solid phases. Sorption isotherms for isoproturon and diuron on Jaillière soil as well as eroded particles were measured under equilibrium conditions and compared to their partitioning during surface run-off. At the rainfall intensity used, both soils generated a large load of eroded particles. The average run-off flow rate increased with time for the Jalliére soil, while it remained relatively constant at a higher level for the Coet Dan soil. The concentrations of each pesticide in the run-off samples decreased as the experiments proceeded. The pesticides were classified into two types by their partitioning between the solid and liquid phases. Atrazine, simazine, diuron, isoproturon and alachlor were mainly transported in surface run-off water. By contrast, 90% of trifluralin and aclonifen was adsorbed onto eroded particles. Lindane was intermediate, with a 37% adsorption level. When the contribution of eroded particles was minor, the agrochemical concentrations were inversely proportional to the water flow rate. We have proposed a model that describes the mass of chemicals extracted from soil into surface water during a surface run-off event of a given average duration and flow rate. This model takes into account the dilution of the soil solution and the desorption of chemicals through two parameters called, respectively, the dilution factor and the extraction retardation factor. To date, models for simulating sap flow dynamics in individual trees with a direct link to stem diameter variation include only the diameter fluctuation driven by a change in stem water storage. This paper reports results obtained with a comprehensive flow and storage model using whole-tree leaf transpiration as the only input variable. The model includes radial stem growth based on Lockhart's equation for irreversible cell expansion. It was demonstrated that including growth is essential to obtaining good simulation results. To model sap flow dynamics, capacitance of storage tissues was assumed either constant (i.e., electrical analogue approach) or variable and dependent on the water content of the respective storage tissue (i.e., hydraulic system approach). These approaches resulted in different shapes for the desorption curve used to calculate the capacitance of storage tissues. Comparison of these methods allowed detection of specific differences in model simulation of sap flow at the stem base (F(stem)) and stem diameter variation (D). Sensitivity analysis was performed to select a limited subset of identifiable parameters driving most of the variability in model predictions of F(stem) and D Both the electrical analogue and the hydraulic system approach for the flow and storage model were successfully calibrated and validated for the case of a young beech tree (Fagus sylvatica L.). Use of an objective model selection criterion revealed that the flow and storage model based on the electrical analogue approach yielded better predictions.  相似文献

 2001年9月在湖南省3个稻瘟病的主要发病县采集分离了57个稻瘟病菌株,与法国国际农艺研究和发展中心提供的4个标准菌株于稻谷粉琼脂培养基上对峙培养。结果表明,30% 和12% 的测试菌株分别为交配型1.1和交配型12,其余60% 的测试菌株与4个标准菌株中的任何一个均不能产生子囊果,即便是与田间新获得的两性菌株之间的对峙培养也不能产生子囊果。在所获24个能育菌株中只有5个为两性菌株,占9%。各菌株在中国7个鉴别品种上的测定共获5群20个小种,其中ZA 和ZB为优势群,ZB15为优势小种。还就稻瘟病菌有性世代在田间存在与否进行了讨论。  相似文献

A case of multiple congenital epitrichial sweat gland hamartomas in a 2-day-old piglet is presented. The skin lesions were raised, ovoid to linear in configuration, alopecic, red-purple to pink, and cauliflower-like to cerebriform in appearance. Histological examination of skin specimens confirmed a diagnosis of epitrichial sweat gland hamartoma. Complete necropsy examination revealed no other lesions.  相似文献

A young potted oak (Quercus robur L.) tree was subjected to drought by interrupting the water supply for 9 days. The tree was placed in a growth chamber in which daily patterns of temperature and radiation were constant. The effects of drought on the water and carbon status of the stem were examined by measuring stem sap flow rate, stem water potential, stem diameter variations, stem CO(2) efflux rate (F(CO2)) and xylem CO(2) concentration ([CO(2)*]). Before and after the drought treatment, diurnal fluctuations in F(CO2) and [CO(2)*] corresponded well with variations in stem temperature (T(st)). Daytime depressions in F(CO2) did not occur. During the drought treatment, F(CO2) still responded to stepwise changes in temperature, but diurnal fluctuations in F(CO2) were no longer correlated with diurnal fluctuations in T(st). From the moment daily growth rate of the stem became zero, diurnal fluctuations in F(CO2) became closely correlated with diameter variations, exhibiting clear daytime depressions. The depressions in F(CO2) were likely the result of a reduction in metabolic activity caused by the lowered daytime stem water status. Xylem [CO(2)*] showed clear daytime depressions in response to drought. When the tree was re-watered, F(CO2) and [CO(2)*] exhibited sharp increases, coinciding with an increase in stem diameter. After resumption of the water supply, daytime depressions in F(CO2) and [CO(2)*] disappeared and diurnal fluctuations in F(CO2) and [CO(2)*] corresponded again with variations in T(st).  相似文献

Fundamental processes influencing human growth can be revealed by studying extreme short stature. Using genetic linkage analysis, we find that biallelic loss-of-function mutations in the centrosomal pericentrin (PCNT) gene on chromosome 21q22.3 cause microcephalic osteodysplastic primordial dwarfism type II (MOPD II) in 25 patients. Adults with this rare inherited condition have an average height of 100 centimeters and a brain size comparable to that of a 3-month-old baby, but are of near-normal intelligence. Absence of PCNT results in disorganized mitotic spindles and missegregation of chromosomes. Mutations in related genes are known to cause primary microcephaly (MCPH1, CDK5RAP2, ASPM, and CENPJ).  相似文献
