Total concentrations of mercury were determined using cold-vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy (CV-AAS) in the fruiting bodies of 16 species of wild mushrooms and underlying soil (0-10 cm) substrates collected in the areas of the Communes of Morag and ?ukta in the county of Ostróda in northeastern Poland in 1997-1998. A total of 174 composite samples of caps, 174 stalks, 80 whole fruiting bodies (collectively 1254 specimens), and 252 soils were examined. Among several species of mushrooms analyzed, the greatest concentrations were between 1300 and 71000 ng.g(-1) of dry matter. These levels were found in the caps of Sweating mushroom (Clitocybe rivulosa), King Bolete (Boletus edulis), and Common Puffball (Lycoperdon perlatum) and also were characterized by the highest bioconcentration factors (BCF) for Hg, which ranged between 160 +/- 82 and 110 +/- 34. The cap to stalk quotient for mercury concentrations was approximately 2 for most of the species except Poison Pax (Paxilus involutus), which had a greater concentration in caps than in stalks and a quotient of 4.4 +/- 7.2. Hg concentrations in the underlying soil substrates (0-10 cm layer) ranged between 21 +/- 21 and 390 +/- 130 ng.g(-1) of dry matter. The results showed that the consumption of mushrooms, considered to be the sole dietary source of mercury at the highest or mean element concentrations found, is not hazardous at daily ingestion rates of less than 70 and 210 g of fresh product, which would result in a hazard index value of less than unity.  相似文献

Nonhost resistance describes the immunity of an entire plant species against nonadapted pathogen species. We report that Arabidopsis PEN2 restricts pathogen entry of two ascomycete powdery mildew fungi that in nature colonize grass and pea species. The PEN2 glycosyl hydrolase localizes to peroxisomes and acts as a component of an inducible preinvasion resistance mechanism. Postinvasion fungal growth is blocked by a separate resistance layer requiring the EDS1-PAD4-SAG101 signaling complex, which is known to function in basal and resistance (R) gene-triggered immunity. Concurrent impairment of pre- and postinvasion resistance renders Arabidopsis a host for both nonadapted fungi.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of disk fenestration and ventral slot formation on vertebral motion unit (VMU) range of motion (ROM) and determine the effects of fenestration and ventral slot width on VMU ROM. SAMPLE POPULATION: C5-C6 VMUs from 10 skeletally mature canine cadavers. PROCEDURES: Specimens were assigned to 2 groups (5 specimens/group). Surgery was performed in which width of a fenestration and a ventral slot was 33% (group 1) or 50% (group 2) the width of the vertebral body. Flexion-extension, lateral bending, and axial torsion ROMs were measured during loading before surgery, after fenestration, and after ventral slot formation. Range of motion was compared within groups to determine effects of surgical procedure on stability and between groups to determine effects of width of fenestration and ventral slot on stability. RESULTS: For both groups, fenestration resulted in a significant increase in ROM during flexion-extension, compared with results for intact specimens. Ventral slot formation resulted in a significant increase in ROM during flexion-extension and lateral bending, compared with results for intact specimens. Ventral slot formation resulted in a significant increase in ROM only during flexion-extension, compared with results for fenestrated specimens. There were no significant differences in ROM of the intact, fenestrated, and ventral slot specimens between groups. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Analysis of these results suggests that fenestration and ventral slot procedures each affect the biomechanics of the C5-C6 VMU. Width of a fenestration or ventral slot up to 50% of the width of C5-C6 may be clinically acceptable.  相似文献

Diet of larval and juvenile pikeperch (Stizostedion lucioperca) reared in ponds wasinvestigated and compared with the diet ofpikeperch from a reservoir. The standard lengthof first feeding pikeperch larvae in ponds was6.1 mm, on average, and although rotifers werepresent in the diet, their numericalcontribution can be considered asinsubstantial. Rotifers were soon replaced bynauplii of cyclopoid copepods, which werehighly positively selected and contributedlargely to the diet up to a larval length of 10 mm.Daphnia spp. were consumed from the onsetof exogenous feeding, but were not positivelyselected until 15 mm. Anothersmaller cladoceran Bosmina longirostriswas highly negatively selected and did notcontribute significantly to the diet. A clearpositive selection for larger relatively tosmaller prey and a preference for Daphniafrom a body length of 15 mm onwards could beobserved. In the reservoir, rotifers were notfound in the diet of pikeperch larvae even inthe smallest individuals. Dominant food itemswere nauplii and 1st copepodite instar ofEudiaptomus gracilis and Cyclopsspp. Cladocerans – Daphnia galeata andto a lesser extent Diaphanosomabrachyurum appeared in the pikeperch diet at alength of about 10 mm. A shift from copepods toDaphnia spp. and especiallyLeptodora kindtii could be recognised inpikeperch at a length of 20 mm. When comparing ourdata from nursing ponds with the data fromímov reservoir, similar trends in dietcomposition were observed.Growth of pikeperch was found significantlyfaster in nursing ponds than in the reservoir.Slow growth of reservoir pikeperch was probablyan artefact due to the prolonged spawningperiod in the reservoir. Larvae and juvenilesfrom later spawnings decreased the average sizeof the population over the studied period. Innursing ponds lowest average standard length atharvest was found in the pond with the highestnumbers of fish, and vice versa in the pondwith the lowest numbers the largest standardlength was recorded. This result corresponds tothe increased intracohort food competitionamong juvenile pikeperch with increasingstocking density.  相似文献

Fourteen species of wild growing mushrooms and surface (0–10 cm) soils were collected near Lake Wdzydze in the northern part of Poland in 1996–1997 to understand the status of mercury pollution. Concentrations of mercury in mushrooms varied between 100±30 and 2400±1900 ng g-1 dry matter in caps and 60±1 and 1300±1500 ng g-1 dry matter in stalks. Concentrations of mercury in underlying soil were between 30±1 and 140±120 ng g-1 dry matter (between 36±18 and 63±100 ng g-1 depending on the soil type). Bioconcentration factors (BCF: concentrations in mushroom/concentrationin soil) of total mercury were between 2.3±1.1 and 90±110 for caps, and between 2.1±1.0 and 53±56 for stalks. Scaly tooth (Sarcodon imbricatum) contained the greatest concentrations of mercury in the flesh. However, there was no significant relationship (p >: 0.05) between mercury content in the fruiting bodies of this speciesto soil mercury concentrations. A significant (p < 0.01) positive relationship between mercury content in caps to underlying soil was noted for European cow bolete (Suillus bovinus), while a negative relationship between mercury content in caps and stalks to underlying soil was observed for Sandy knight-cap (Tricholomaflavovirens), Shaggy scale-head (Pholiota squaroso-adiposa),Gypsy mushroom (Rozites caperata) and Pine spike cap (Chroogomphus rutilus).  相似文献
