Thyme ( Thymus vulgaris L.) plants were spaced at 15, 30 or 45 cm distances in a clay-loamy soil. They received different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus, besides a constant level of potassium. The results showed, that the wider spacing promoted the growth and production of herb and oil per plant, however dense cultivation significantly increased the yields of herb and oil per unit area. In all cases, the applied fertilization treatments significantly increased the productivity per unit area. Dense cultivation accompanied with higher levels of fertilization proved to be very usefull. The essential oil content was not influenced by either the plant spacing or fertilization treatments applied in this study. 相似文献

[Phenyl(U)-(14)C] and [triazole(3)-(14)C]flusilazole ([(bis 4-fluorophenyl)]methyl(1H-1,2,4-triazole-1-ylmethyl)silane; I) were extensively metabolized when fed to lactating goats (Capra hircus). The primary metabolites identified in goat tissues and milk were bis(4-fluorophenyl)(methyl)silanol (II) and 1H-1,2,4-triazole (III). Concentrations of total radiolabeled residues in the milk ranged from 0.09 to 0.74 microg/mL. Concentrations of radiolabeled residues found in tissues when the [(14)C] label was in the phenyl or triazole position, respectively, were 13.5 and 3.54 microg/g (liver), 8.74 and 0.75 microg/g (kidney), 0.41 and 0.52 microg/g (leg muscle), and 4.07 and 0.94 microg/g (back fat). Urine contained an additional major metabolite identified as [bis(4-fluorophenyl)](methyl)silylmethanol (IV) and its glucuronic acid conjugate (V). With either labeled form of flusilazole, the majority of the recovered radiolabel was excreted in urine or feces. 相似文献

Rabbitfish are an Indo‐Pacific herbivorous marine fish that have good market demand and are suitable for aquaculture. The present work was performed to determine dietary protein inclusion necessary for optimal growth of juvenile rabbitfish Siganus rivulatus. Six diets with increasing levels of protein (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 g crude protein 100 g?1 feed) and similar levels of gross energy (20 MJ kg?1) were prepared and offered to S. rivulatus juveniles maintained in triplicate cages placed in two large water tanks for 49 days. Growth progressively improved with dietary protein for fish offered diets from 10% to 40% protein inclusion. Diets with greater protein levels did not improve fish growth beyond that observed in the 40% group. Daily feed intake, apparent protein utilization and feed conversion ratio decreased as dietary protein increased. Protein efficiency (PE) was greatest (1.47) in fish offered the 10% protein diet and least in fish offered the 60% protein diet (0.80). No differences in PE were observed among all other treatments (20–50%). Results of the present work suggest that minimum dietary requirement for suitable growth of S. rivulatus juveniles is 40% protein when digestible energy of the diet is 16–18 MJ kg?1. 相似文献

Five different levels (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 g kg?1) of algal (Ulva fasciata) meal were added to red tilapia feeds to examine its effect on growth and carcass biochemical content. Addition of ulva meal significantly improved growth performance, feed utilization, total crude protein content, and percentage of highly unsaturated fatty acids. Fish fed 75 g kg?1 or 100 g kg?1 of U. fasciata performed better than others. 相似文献

The powdered roots of moghat (Glossostemon bruguieri) have been traditionally used in Eastern countries for their nutritive and therapeutic value. However, the biological effects
of the plant constituents have not been proved on the basis of scientific research. The present study aimed to evaluate the
content and composition of proteins and mucilages of the roots and seeds of moghat, as well as the hypoglycemic effect of
the mucilages. The crude protein constituted 19.5% of the seeds, while it made up 4.5% of the peeled dried roots ofGlossostemon bruguieri (Moghat). Glutamic acid, proline, leucine, phenylalanine, histidine and arginine were abundant in the protein of both plant
parts; 72 and 83%, respectively. Valine, cysteine, methionine and lysine were detected only in seed protein. Molecular weights
of the seed proteins were 50 000, 45 000 and 22 000. Moghat seeds contained 5.0% mucilage, while 15.75% and 29.60% were recorded
in roots of one- and two-year-old plants, respectively. GLC investigation showed that both these plant parts contained rhamnose,
xylose, mannose and galacturonic acid. Arabinose (1.8%) and glucuronic acid (14.6%) were present only in the seeds, while
galactose constituted 33.7 to 34.5% of the root mucilage. Age of the roots was reflected in quantitative differences rather
than qualitative ones. The root mucilages had remarkable hypoglycemic activity, decreasing the blood glucose level in diabetic
rats by 54.5% within 15 days. Accordingly, moghat roots should be investigated as potential medical and nutritive food. 相似文献

Pigeon herpes encephalomyelitis virus (PHEV) was compared with seven avian herpesviruses for antigenic relatedness using monospecific antisera and the indirect fluorescent-antibody (IFA), agar-gel-immunodiffusion, and serum-neutralization tests. No antigenic relationship was detected between PHEV and Marek's disease virus, turkey herpesvirus, infectious laryngotracheitis virus, and duck enteritis virus. A common precipitating antigen was detected between the PHEV and pigeon herpesvirus (PHV), owl herpesvirus (OHV), and falcon herpesvirus (FHV). These four viruses also cross-reacted in the IFA test. Weak neutralizing activity was detected only between PHV antiserum and PHEV. These results suggest that the PHEV should be classified as a herpesvirus related to, but distinct from, the PHV-OHV-FHV group of viruses with which it shares common antigens. 相似文献

In this study, the effect of the methanolic extract of Balanites aegyptiaca fruits (BAE) on adult Toxocara vitulorum was evaluated after incubating the parasites in Ringer solution containing 10, 30, 60, 120 and 240 μg/ml of the methanolic extract, for 24h using light and scanning electron microscopic observations. Differences in response to BAE action were concentration dependent. These changes occurred in definite sequences in response to BAE concentration and were consisted of slightly swelling which became pronounced and so severe, with lips showed wrinkled cuticular surface and deformed sensory papillae on increasing the BAE concentration. The strongest effects were reached with the highest BAE concentration, where disorganization of the cuticle and body musculature was observed. Additionally, the ovicidal effect of BAE, at the previous concentrations, on the development of T. vitulorum eggs was examined after 12h exposure. The inhibitory activity of BAE on egg development was concentration dependent and the highest value reached to 100% with the concentration of 240 μg/ml. These results were compared with those observed in the worm cuticle and eggs following incubation in albendazole, as it was a broad-spectrum nematodicidal compound with well-known ovicidal activity. 相似文献

The present study was designed to investigate cotton response to different salinity levels at different K/Na ratios of irrigation water.
The salinity levels in irrigation water were 3200 and 6400 mg/1 and the control treatment had a 320 mg/L. Potassium/Sodium ratios in irrigation water were 1: 9 and 1: 4.
Some agronomic traits were studied as well as leaf water Potential (LWP), and leaf samples were taken for elemental analysis.
Statistical analysis showed that increasing total salinity of irrigation water reduced seed yield and total dry weight of cotton but not number of total or open bolls. Lower K/Na ratio (1:9) was of benificial effects on most agronomic traits.
Increasing salinity of irrigation water caused an increase in Na, but not K or Ca content of the cotton leaves; while decreasing K/Na ratio in the saline irrigation water decreased the K/Na ratio in the leaves. Lower leaf water potential was found to be associated with higher levels of both water salinity and K/Na ratio.
A strong relationships were found between cotton seed yield, LWP and K/total bases content in leaves. Ionic content relations (K/Na and K/total bases content) were found to be of a strong association with LWP.
In brief, it could be concluded that increasing K to certain extent; K/Na (1: 9) could be useful in irrigating cotton plant with high water salinity.
The benificial effects of potassium additions to diminish the salinity effects in cotton may be the consequence of improved plant water relations, as well as the status of ion relationships. 相似文献

Contents: Investigations were performed to determine I) Cyclic changes in uterine immune response of buffalo-cows that could be responsible for increased susceptibility of the diestrous uterus to infection, 2) The effect of some genital disorders on the immune response. The number and phagocytic capacity of uterine leucocytes as well as the immunoglobulin contents revealed significant cyclic variations. These parameters were obviously decreased in the uteri of buffalo with bilateral smooth inactive ovaries. On the other hand, marked increases were recorded in both uterine leucocyte counts and immunoglobulin contents in the uteri of buffalo with cystic ovarian disease, endometritis, pyometra and cervical retention cysts. Phagocytic capacity showed obvious increase in case of cystic ovarian disease while decreased in other studied disorders. 相似文献
