Two hundred fifty two male Ross 308 broiler chicks were raised to examine the effects of Satureja khuzistanica essential oils (SkEO; 0, 200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 mg/bird/day) administrated via oral gavage and dietary supplementation of acetic acid (AA; 0 or 20 g/kg) in a 6 × 2 factorial fashion using a complete randomized block design with seven replicates of three birds each. In Day 34 of age, liver fat percentage decreased by increasing SkEO levels in a quadratic trend (p < .05). Oral gavag of 200 and 300 mg of SkEO decreased AST activity by 16.67% and 16.94%, respectively, compared with the control birds (p < .05). In Day 38 of age, liver percentage was greater by 0.37% in the birds received 400 mg SkEO than those given 500 mg (p < .05). Liver fat percentage decreased in the birds fed the acidified diet and received 300 and 500 mg SkEO as well as in the birds offered 200 and 400 mg of SkEO and fed non-acidified diet than those received acidified diet with no SkEO administration (p < .05). Prevalence of score zero for hepatocytic vacuolations and necrosis was 80.00% and 42.42% in the birds receiving 600 mg SkEO respectively. Median for relative frequency of scores for hepatocytic vacuolations and hepatocytic necrosis was lesser in the birds received SkEO by oral gavage compared with that of control birds (p < .05). In conclusion, administration of SkEO via oral gavage reduced liver fat in broiler chicken but no consistent dosage could be verified as the effective dosage for all ages concerned. The acidified diet per se showed no evident effect on liver fat at all ages considered. The SkEO × AA interaction exhibited promising but unreliable effects on liver colour score in market age (42 days).  相似文献

Thyroid hormones (THs) play important roles in regulating growth, development and physiological functions in vertebrates. To study the role of short‐term effects of thyroxine (T4) on metabolism and growth in female Sterlet sturgeon, thirty fish with a weight of 707.97 ± 37.15 g were divided into six tanks. Fish were injected intraperitoneal with (a) coconut oil alone (control), (b) 1 mg T4 kg per BW in coconut oil (T1) and (c) 10 mg T4 kg per BW in coconut oil (T10). Blood samples were collected at 0, 4, 7, 14, 28 and 60 days for plasma biochemical analysis, and body length and mass were determined at day 60. Based on results, higher growth was indicated in T10 group. The highest T4 levels were observed on day 4 in the T1 and T10 treatments and gradually declined during the trial. Plasma T3 levels were highest on days 4 and 7 in the T1 and T10 groups, respectively. Plasma triglyceride levels were significantly elevated on day 28 in the T1 group and on day 60 in the T10 group. Plasma glucose concentrations were significantly elevated on days 7 and 14 in T10 group. Overall, the present results suggest that a single injection of T4 can improve growth via changes in the metabolic profile of Sterlet sturgeon.  相似文献

Oscillations of the Sun have been used to understand its interior structure. The extension of similar studies to more distant stars has raised many difficulties despite the strong efforts of the international community over the past decades. The CoRoT (Convection Rotation and Planetary Transits) satellite, launched in December 2006, has now measured oscillations and the stellar granulation signature in three main sequence stars that are noticeably hotter than the sun. The oscillation amplitudes are about 1.5 times as large as those in the Sun; the stellar granulation is up to three times as high. The stellar amplitudes are about 25% below the theoretic values, providing a measurement of the nonadiabaticity of the process ruling the oscillations in the outer layers of the stars.  相似文献

The appropriate time of harvest is one of the most important factors affecting the quality of pistachio. Cultivars ‘Ahmad-Aghaii’, ‘Kaleh-Ghoochi’, ‘Ohadi’ and ‘Badami-Zarand’ were evaluated for qualitative indices of nut over a period of four years from 2001 to 2004. Nut samples were collected during eight successive weeks from 23 August to 11 October. Splitting, early splitting, hull cracking and hulling percentage continually increased toward the last harvest week while non-splitting, immaturity, number of nuts per ounce and moisture content decreased during the harvest weeks. The increment of splitting and the number of nuts per ounce was not significant from 20 September to the last week of harvest. Early splitting, hull cracking and aflatoxin contamination of kernel progressively increased from 13 September. Total crude fat and sugar contents showed a peak in the middle of September. The concentration of aflatoxins prior or at maturity stage of selected cultivars was lower than the critical level. In general, the appropriate time of harvest for the cultivars studied is the middle of September to avoid contamination of nuts to aflatoxin and to ensure the nut quality. This study emphasizes different quality indices for determining the optimum harvest time of pistachio crop.  相似文献

This study presents a new method that combines QTL mapping and gene introgression. The effectiveness of this method for simultaneous detection and introgression of a desirable QTL from a donor line into a recipient line was evaluated by simulation. For evaluation, we used the fourth backcross generation of 2 inbred lines. The difference between the 2 lines for the trait of interest was described entirely by 1 QTL, with the donor line carrying the superior allele. Nine scenarios, combinations of 3 heritabilities (h(2) = 0.10, 0.05, or 0.01) and 3 population sizes (N = 100, 500, or 1,000) were considered in the simulation. Selection of parents for the next backcross was based solely upon the estimated probability of carrying the superior allele after a QTL analysis. Estimates of the QTL location and allele substitution effect in most scenarios were comparable to the true values. However (with either small h(2) or N) the QTL allele substitution effect was underestimated, and location was also biased. The SE of the estimates decreased with increasing N. The retained donor chromosome segment and linkage drag were close to the expected values from other published work. In general, combined detection and introgression of genes underlying desirable traits not only saves at least 1 generation, but also it ensures that the desirable QTL is introgressed where its function is simultaneously tested in a planned environment and recipient genome structure.  相似文献

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Populationsparameter für Geburts- und Vlie?gewicht von Baluchi Schafen Das Datenmarterial stammt von zwei Herden einer Schafzuchtstation in NO Iran aus den Jahren 1966-1989. Die Tiere waren unselektiert und stammten aus zuf?llig verteilten Paarungen. Es wurden Geburtsgewicht und Vlie?gewicht bei verschiedenen Altersstufen erhoben und Varianzkomponenten mittels Restringierter Maximaler Likelihood mit einem bivariaten Tiermodell mit fixen Wirkungen von Jahr, Geschlecht, Geburtstyp und Parit?t sowie Zufallswirkungen für additiven Genotyp des Lammes (direkt) und des Mutterschafes (maternal), gemeinsamer Umwelt (ausgenommen Vlie?gewicht) und Resteinflu? gesch?tzt. Direkte und maternale genetische Korrelationen zwischen Leistungen verschiedener Parit?ten wurden berechnet. In Herde 1 scheinen Varianzen und Heritabilit?tswerte für Lammgewicht bis Parit?t 5 zuzunehmen, kaum aber in Herde 2. Die durchschnittlichen Heritabilit?tswerte, direkt, maternal und gesamt waren 0.12, 0.11 und 0.26, die genetische Korrelation zwischen direkten und maternalen Wirkungen 0.42. Bei Vlie?gewicht waren in Herde 1 keine Ver?nderungen der Varianzen und Heritabilit?tswerte mit Alter zu erkennen, aber bei Herde 2 nahmen ph?notypische und Umweltvarianz mit Alter leicht zu. Durchschnittliche direkte, maternale und Gesamtheritabilit?t waren 0.19, 0.04 und 0.22, die genetische Korrelation zwischen direkten und maternalen Wirkungen geringgradig positiv in Herde 1, aber mit Alter zunehmend negativ in Herde 2. Die genetischen Korrelationen für direkte Wirkungen auf Geburtsgewicht waren hoch zwischen Parit?ten 1 bis 5, aber niedriger bei Parit?t 6 und jene zwischen maternal bedingten Wirkungen zeigten ?hnliche Trends. In Herde 2 waren Werte mit Parit?t 6 ?hnlich wie die zwischen den übrigen Parit?ten. Die die Vlie?gewichte betreffenden direkt genetischen Korrelationen zwischen Parit?ten waren in beiden Herden ?hnlich (0.73-0.92), jene, die maternale Wirkungen betreffen, deutlich geringer, besonders soweit sie Parit?ten 5 und 6 betroffen haben und zeigten besonders bei Herde 2 starke Schwankungen (-0.54 bis 0.74). SUMMARY: Direct and maternal performance of ewes at different parities were examined in Baluchi sheep. The data set was collected during the period 1966-1989 from two flocks at a sheep breeding station in the north-east of Iran. The animals included in the data set were unselected and randomly mated. The traits analysed were birth weight of lamb and fleece weight at different parities of the ewe. Variance components were estimated using Restricted Maximum Likelihood with a bivariate animal model including fixed effects of year, sex, type of birth and parity, and random effects of additive genotype of lamb (direct genetic effect), additive genotype of ewe (maternal genetic effect) and common environment (excluded for ewe fleece weight), and random residual effect. Direct and maternal genetic correlations between different parities were estimated. There was evidence of increasing phenotypic and genetic variances and heritabilities from parity 5 for birth weight of lamb in flock 1, but only evidence of a slightly increasing age trend for the environmental and phenotypic variance in flock 2. The average heritabilities over flocks and parities were 0.12, 0.11 and 0.26 for the direct, maternal and total heritability, respectively, while the average genetic correlation between direct and maternal effects for this trait was 0.42. There were no indications of any age changes in variances or heritabilities for ewe fleece weight in flock 1, but indications of slightly increasing age trends for the environmental and phenotypic variance. The average heritabilities over flocks and parities were 0.19, 0.04 and 0.22 for the direct, maternal and total heritability, respectively, while the average genetic correlation between direct and maternal effects was slightly positive in flock 1 but increasingly negative with age of the ewe in flock 2. Direct genetic correlations between parities 1-5 were very high for birth weight of lambs (on average 0.96) in contrast to the markedly lower correlations of parities 1-5 with parity 6 (on average 0.67) in flock 1 with a similar pattern for the maternal genetic correlations. In flock 2, these correlations were also high but without the marked decrease between parities 1-5 with parity 6 that was found in flock 1. Direct genetic correlations between the various parities for ewe fleece weight were similar for the two flocks, ranging from 0.73 to 0.92 and without any obvious differences between the various combinations of parities. However, the maternal were markedly lower than the direct genetic correlations, especially for the combinations of parity 5 and 6 with the earlier parities, and most pronounced in flock 2 fluctuating from -0.54 to 0.79. To obtain reliable estimates of breeding values for birth weight of lamb, it is recommended that the prediction should include not only earlier but also later parities (ages) of the ewe.  相似文献

There are inaccuracies in the chemical families of the WSSA and HRAC herbicide classification systems which could limit their practical use in herbicide‐based weed management strategies. In essence, these inaccuracies could be divided into four parts: (i) the nomenclature of many of the chemical families is not correct, (ii) distinct active ingredients are grouped in same chemical families, (iii) many chemical families have been repeated in at least two modes of action/herbicide groups, and (iv) many active ingredients have not been assigned to chemical family, herbicide group or mode of action. The aim of this study was to revise the current classifications and to propose corrections for the current ones. Detailed investigations on chemical structure of the active ingredients of the registered herbicides showed that some moieties have the same mechanisms of action. According to this study, these moieties have been assigned to the names of chemical families and active ingredients are then classified within the chemical families accordingly. This study has 119 chemical families, compared with 145 in the WSSA system and 58 in the HRAC system. A major priority of this study is the number of active ingredients covered; we included 410 active ingredients with known mechanisms of action and herbicide groups, more than 100 active ingredients more than the current classification systems. Overall, this study provides better opportunities for the management of resistance to herbicides through the application of improved pure and applied knowledge.  相似文献

Background: Glaucomatous neuropathy is a type of cell death due to apoptosis. The p53 gene is one of the regulatory genes of apoptosis. Recently, the association between the p53 gene encoding for proline at codon 72 and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) has been studied in some ethnic groups. This study is the first association analysis of POAG and p53 codon 72 polymorphism in Iranian patients. Methods: A cohort of 65 unrelated patients with POAG (age range from 12-62 years, mean ± SD of 40.16 ± 17.51 years) and 65 unrelated control subjects (without glaucoma, age range of 14-63 years, mean ± SD of 35.64 ± 13.61 years) were selected. In Iranian POAG patients and normal healthy controls, the p53 codon 72 polymorphism in exon 4 was amplified using polymerase chain reaction. The amplified DNA fragments were digested with the BstUI restriction enzyme, and the digestion patterns were used to identify the alleles for the polymorphic site. Results: Comparisons revealed significant differences in allele and genotype frequencies of Pro72Arg between POAG patients and control group. A higher risk of POAG was associated with allele Pro (OR = 2.1, 95% CI = 1.2–3.4) and genotype Pro/Pro (OR = 3.9, 95% CI = 0.13-12.7). Conclusion: The p53 Pro72 allele was more frequent in Iranian POAG patients than in the control group (P<0.05). The present findings show that the individuals with the Pro/Pro genotype may be more likely to develop POAG. However, additional studies are necessary to confirm this association. In 1931 Carpantier reported bovine TB (BTB) in Iranian cattle. Some eighty years on with a national test-and-slaughter programme in place for over four decades, the efforts to vanquish Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis) infection in cattle have been in vain as the vast majority of the 30 Iranian provinces still have reports of BTB in their cattle herds every year. This paper reviews the present epidemiology of BTB in Iran and in the region and evaluates the success of government policy in controlling this disease.  相似文献
