Farm-level factors associated with above-average production on pig farms in Evia, Greece

The aim of this study was to identify farm-level factors associated with above-average production of pig farms in Evia, Greece. Cross-sectional data on pig farm characteristics and management, farmer characteristics, worming practices, anthelmintics used, and the parasite loads of 10 randomly selected boars, sows, weaners, and fatteners were collected from 28 pig enterprises in the Evian region of Greece (74% of the total number of pig enterprises in this region). Above-average productivity was defined as weaning 18 or more piglets per sow per year. A multivariate logistic regression model found that employing immigrant workers reduced the odds of a farm being an above-average producer (OR 0.016, 95% CI 0.001–0.27), while having a veterinarian select the anthelmintic strategy significantly increased the odds of a farm being an above-average producer (OR 10.24, 95% CI 0.78–135.13). None of the gastrointestinal parasites under investigation were significantly associated with above-average productivity. It is concluded that despite the fact that endoparasite load was not significantly associated with above-average production, a quantification of the impact of intestinal worms on pig productivity is needed to know how much control can be envisaged for gastrointestinal worms before reaching the threshold at which it is no longer physically or financially reasonable to continue pursuing control.     

Induced resistance: a tool for fungicide resistance management

Induced resistance to the apple scab fungus Venturia inaequalis was demonstrated in greenhouse tests with 12-day-old seedlings of the apple cultivar Golden Delicious treated with methyl 2,6-dichloro-isonicotinate or 3,5-dichlorosalicylic acid prior to inoculation with the causal fungus. Studies of the dose-response of flusilazole on induced resistant plants revealed synergistic effects between both crop protection principles. Therefore, the use of such resistance-inducing compounds in the field might allow a reduction in the number of fungicide applications, and possibly a reduction in dose, thus resulting in improved efficacy of fungicides. There was also evidence that induced resistance could prove to be a valid strategy for the treatment of pathogen populations with reduced sensitivity to a given fungicide. © 1998 SCI

The Evaluating Model of the BSC in the Audit of the Capacity of Sustainable Operation

With the increasingly economic competition in the World, the audit industry, numerous investors and the enterprises pay more and more attention on the audit of company's sustainable operation. In view of existing situation that the audit on the capacity of sustainable operation attach main importance to the finance of the audited company, in the result, it is difficult to recognize it completely. The model of the balanced scorecard is used, an indicator system that combine company's finance condition and non-finance condition is built in the sustainable operation audit. Basing on the way to process non-dimensional quantities of indicators, the audit use the analytic hierarchy process to determine the weights of the evaluating indicators and take the degree of gray incidence as the evaluation criteria.

养分管理措施对干热河谷火龙果土壤肥力的影响

为阐明火龙果地不同养分管理方式下土壤矿质养分变化特征,揭示土壤肥力质量变化规律,设置施用农家肥（farmyard manure,FM）、套种绿肥（alfalfa,AF）、施用生物有机肥（bio-organic fertilizer,BOF）与凋落物覆盖（litter coverage,LC）4种养分管理方式,通过分析不同处理的土壤肥力指标变化,明确不同养分管理方式对火龙果地土壤肥力质量的影响。结果表明：不同养分管理方式的土壤理化性质变化规律各异,在LC方式下pH低于7,呈弱酸性,其余养分管理方式下均呈弱碱性;LC对土壤有机碳（soil organic carbon,SOC）、有效磷（available phosphorus,AP）、有效锰（available manganese,AMn）、有效铁（available iron,AFe）等土壤养分增效显著,AF对SOC、全氮（total nitrogen,TN）、全钾（total potassium,TK）增效作用较弱,FM以及BOF下SOC及多数有效态元素含量相对较低;土壤速效养分受到pH的影响较大,大量元素与微量元素多呈极显著正相关;不同养分管理方式的土壤质量综合指数表现为,LC（1.793）>AF（0.949）>FM（-0.995）>BOF（-1.747）。LC为土壤养分积累较为适宜的管理方式,其次为AF,FM次之,BOF对土壤养分的积累效应最低,但其对提高作物产量具有较好的作用。     

基于耕地资源信息系统的海口市琼山区耕地地力评价

为了解海口市耕地质量状况,并为该地区的耕地地力评价提供理论参考,以海口市琼山区为例,运用县域耕地资源管理信息系统,选取排涝能力、成土母质和耕层厚度等共12个指标构建耕地地力评价指标体系,采用模糊数学理论与层次分析法计算耕地地力综合指数,按照累积曲线法划分的耕地地力等级对该地区的耕地地力进行评价。结果表明:琼山区耕地中一级地1713.05hm~2,占耕地总面积的7.05%;二级地6500.50hm~2,占耕地总面积的26.78%;三级地10768.03hm~2,占耕地总面积的44.37%;四级地4418.12hm~2,占耕地总面积的18.20%;五级地870.43hm~2,占耕地总面积的3.59%。
