Observations on the Behaviour of Vervet Monkeys Cercopithecus Aethiops

A series of investigations on the vertical migration behaviour of estuarine zooplankton have been carried out in recent years. Several of these investigations have been carried out in collaboration with other zoologists and the detailed findings are being published separately. The work is reviewed here and an attempt is made to draw some general conclusions regarding the behaviour patterns observed. Attention is concentrated particularly on the behaviour of the copepod Pseudodiaptomus, Aspects investigated include behaviour in the field under natural conditions, light reactions and swimming speeds in the laboratory, reactions to layers of low salinity water, the role of endogenous rhythm in this behaviour and the significance of these behaviour patterns to the organisms.

通过开展第1次污染源普查工作,全面掌握了某市各类污染源情况,采集到大量的污染源普查数据。结合环保业务中污染源信息特点,将GIS技术应用于污染源信息管理中,开发该市环境污染源信息系统。这些污染源普查数据的二次应用,为科学编制各类规划、优化区域产业结构、科学制订环保和经济社会协调发展政策提供重要依据。     

Urban forests and social inequality in the Pacific Northwest

Research has shown there is a positive relationship between urban greenness and the well-being of city residents. But greenness is often unevenly distributed across a city, raising environmental justice issues. In 2011 and 2012 the USDA Forest Service, Forest Inventory and Analysis program installed ground plots in the urbanized areas of Oregon and Washington. We analyze these data for the urban areas west of the Cascade Mountains, linking it with demographic data from the U.S. Census to examine the relationship between greenness and socioeconomic status at a sub-regional scale. To explore some relations between urban forest measures and socioeconomic conditions and measures we developed four models: presence of tree canopy cover with a logistic mixed model, and on a subset of the data, percent tree canopy cover with a linear mixed model and tree count and tree species count with Poisson mixed models. We found that median household income, house value, land use, and years in the Tree City USA program contributed to explaining measures of greenness, such as canopy cover presence, percent canopy cover, tree counts, and tree species counts. This agrees with other studies, but does so at a broad scale covering the most densely populated areas in the Pacific Northwest.

2000年世界农业普查方案由联合国粮食和农业组织和其他机构及个人联合制订,并且进行了广泛讨论和修订。该方案内容丰富,涉及调查目的、范围和时间、调查项目、调查方法、调查表和汇总表的设计、调查人员培训、预先调查、数据处理和数据发布等。     

2001-2013年中国重大食物中毒事件的分析评价

为了深入了解我国重大食物中毒事件的发生特征,该研究采用时间序列季节分解法、变异度值、t值检验等分析方法对我国2001-2013年重大食物中毒事件发生起数、死亡人数、中毒因素、中毒场所等通报数据进行分析评价。结果显示：我国重大食物中毒事件发生起数、死亡人数自2006年起均具有逐年下降的趋势,且呈明显的季节周期性,其中,第三季度是中毒事件发生起数最多、造成危害程度最严重的季度。对比引起食物中毒的因素,化学因素是造成生命危害程度最大的因素,但深度分析可知,微生物因素应是未来食品安全防控的重点。中毒场所的比对分析中,家庭场所发生食物中毒的后果最为严重。本研究采用多元数学统计方法对食物中毒事件进行细致、全面的分析,充分揭示了当前我国食物中毒事件发生的总体状况以及未来潜在发展趋势。     

Composition and seasonal variability of the suprabenthic reef-fish assemblage in False Bay,South Africa

The composition and seasonal variability of a False Bay suprabenthic reef-fish assemblage was investigated monthly at a protected reef site (to a depth of 25 m) for 14 months. In total, 25 484 fish from 28 species (26 demersal) were counted. Sparids dominated the assemblage (50 % of species and 87.3 % of individuals), followed by cheilodactylids (15.4 % of species and 7.5 % of individuals). Pachymetopon blochii (30.6 %), Sarpa salpa (17.7 %), Boopsoidea inornata (16.1 %), Chrysoblephus laticeps (10.4 %) and Spondyliosoma emarginatum (9.2 %) were the five most abundant species, while the ten most abundant species made up over 93 % of censused individuals. Composition was relatively stable year round, irrespective of water temperature variations, with 16 of the 26 reef-fish species censused encountered during more than 10 monthly censuses. Triakus megalopterus and large Chrysoblephus gibbiceps were the only species whose abundance appeared to vary seasonally.
