Length of cuttings in establishment and production of short-rotation plantations of Salix ‘Aquatica’
The effect of length of cuttings, 10 to 50 cm long, on establishment and productivity of short-rotation plantations was investigated in five trials, for periods of 2 to 9 years. The trials were established on abandoned agricultural fields planted with unrooted Salix Aquatica cuttings. The effect of cutting length was very similar in all five trials: the longer the cuttings (up to 30–50 cm), the better the survival and growth. In most trials the greatest difference in survival was between cutting lengths of 10 and 20 cm, especially in unfavorable growing conditions. In an annually harvested trial during the 9-year test period, a cutting length up to 30 cm affected biomass production per stool positively. In two trials grown with 5-year rotation, the longest cuttings produced 7 times the above-ground biomass of the shortest ones. Results of these trials also emphasize the importance of establishment for the future success of willow plantations. 相似文献

The commonly used multiple‐liner‐system of modern top sealings of contaminated sites is expensive and in many cases (minor hazardousness of pollutants), not necessary. As an alternative, we investigated the performance of willow stands as the only measure to reduce percolating soil water and therewith pollutant transport to underlying ground water resources. It is well accepted that willows have a high water demand and may considerably reduce percolation. On the basis of experimentally determined soil physical properties of a landfill site, we performed water balance calculations with the physically based HYDRUS‐code and a simple bucket approach. The 20 yr annual leachate rate for bare soil was calculated to vary from 336 (HYDRUS) to 451 mm yr—1 (bucket‐model). Willows were able to reduce the annual leachate to 146 (HYDRUS) and 186 mm yr—1 (bucket‐model), indicating their great performance compared to a grass‐ or beechwood cover. However, legal regulations (TASi) in Germany cannot be met with the proposed method. The occurrence of previously unknown tar‐spot disease on Salix koriyanagi was observed during surveys for forest disease outbreaks in Korea. The fungus associated with tar‐spot disease was identified as Rhytisma filamentosum based on morphological characteristics of the fungus and molecular sequencing of the ITS and 28S rDNA regions of two samples. To our knowledge, this is the first report of R. filamentosum on S. koriyanagi from Korea, following its first discovery on Salix integra in Japan. 相似文献

[目的]通过研究不同浓度NaCl胁迫对竹柳种苗根系活力、抗氧化酶活性的影响来评定其耐盐性,为竹柳向滩涂引种提供理论基础。[方法]对竹柳苗进行4个不同浓度下的NaCl处理,测定每个浓度下的根系活力与抗氧化酶的活性。[结果]随着NaCl浓度的升高,竹柳苗的根系活力先增大后减小。竹柳苗叶中的超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化物酶(POD)活性都随着NaCl浓度的增加先增大后减小,当浓度超过0.5%时活性明显低于对照;叶片中丙二醛(MDA)含量先降低后升高。[结论]竹柳具有一定的耐盐性,有向滩涂引种的潜力。 相似文献
