Human Exposure to Rabid Free‐Ranging Cats: A Continuing Public Health Concern in Pennsylvania

Rabid free‐ranging cats have been a public health concern in Pennsylvania since raccoon variant rabies first was recognized in the state in the early 1980s. Over the last decade, between 1.5 and 2.5% of cats submitted to Pennsylvania's state laboratories for rabies testing have been positive. In this report, we describe the extent of rabies in free‐ranging cats in Pennsylvania. We also present two examples of human exposure to rabid free‐ranging cats that occurred in Pennsylvania during 2010–2011 and the public health actions taken to address rabies exposure in the humans and animals. We then describe the concerns surrounding the unvaccinated and free‐ranging cat population in Pennsylvania and possible options in managing this public and animal health problem.     

The U.S. Wholesale Market for Marine Ornamentals

The market for marine ornamentals encompasses all live marine species (fish and invertebrates) destined for the aquarium trade. In 1998, U.S. imports and exports were valued at approximately US $1.5 billion at the border (all dollar values cited in this paper are $US). In Florida, cultured freshwater and collected saltwater species accounted for $70 million and $4 million, respectively, in annual dockside revenue. To help explain Florida's marine landings and provide suggestions for future resource management and market campaigns that reflect the perceptions of the industry, a survey of wholesalers was initiated in 1999. Preliminary results indicate that there are several intermediate wholesale markets. Florida firms are closer to the supply as many also collect. Wholesalers in other states handle more freshwater product, are larger, and tend to import a larger share of their inventory. Consolidation is expected to continue, but niche markets for eco-friendly firms are expected to grow. In Florida, marketing strategies should focus on the observed higher survival rates and increasing supply of the popular invertebrate species. Many wholesalers are concerned about additional regulations that could reduce the number of collectors and thereby increase supply variability, a noted weakness of the Florida industry.     

2013 年广东水禽产业发展形势与对策建议

2012 年,广东水禽养殖仍主要集中在珠三角地区（鸭46.2%、鹅51.5%,略低于2011 年比例）,但呈现出 西迁的趋势,茂名鸭饲养量赶超广州跃居全省第员位。全省采取多种措施积极应对H7N9 流感等事件,但仍未能改变 水禽产品价格下降的趋势。为推动广东水禽业进一步发展,重点做好以下工作;（1）加大政府对水禽业的监控力度和 扶持,建设水禽生产信息体系;（2）探索水禽业补贴机制,推广水禽生产保险、风险基金和收储制度;（3）推广生态养 殖模式,推动水禽养殖向现代生产方式转型升级;（4）改变活禽交易销售模式,加快冷链物流设施建设,鼓励冰鲜禽 肉消费;（5）加强水禽及其关联产业的经济学研究。     

生猪交易物流运作模式的分析

本文根据我国生猪产业发展的现状、生猪物流系统内部发展及运行环境,从物流主体的组织化程度、流通环节、信息的传播、资产专用性等角度来分析了我国现有三种生猪物流运作模式的特点,并在此基础上设计了适应未来生猪市场的以第四方电子交易平台为主导的新型物流模式。     

Efficacy of furunculosis vaccines in turbot, Scophthalmus maximus (L.): evaluation of immersion, oral and injection delivery

The commercial furunculosis vaccine Aquavac Furovac 5 and an autogenous vaccine, based on the challenge strain, induced immune protection in turbot, Scophthalmus maximus (L.), as shown in challenge tests 120 days post-immunization by injection (relative percentage of survival, RPS = 72-99%). This protective effect lasted for at least 6 months post-immunization at appreciable levels (RPS = 50-52%). Neither the autogenous vaccine nor the commercial vaccine was able to induce significant levels of protection against Aeromonas salmonicida in turbot when administered by immersion. Antibody levels were high or moderate in fish vaccinated by injection with the different vaccines and very low in fish vaccinated by immersion. The field results show that delivering an oral boost after the primary vaccination by injection did not enhance protection of turbot against furunculosis and that water-based (autogenous vaccine) and oil adjuvanted (Alpha Ject 1200) vaccines administered by injection conferred similar levels of protection (RPS > 80%) in turbot.     

鸡眼区相关淋巴组织对ND疫苗点眼免疫应答Ⅱ.眼区局部T淋巴细胞亚群的变化

本研究采用流式细胞仪技术对鸡眼区相关淋巴组织(HALT)在鸡新城疫疫苗点眼免疫后的局部T淋巴细胞亚群的变化进行了研究。研究发现,LaSota 系ND疫苗点眼免疫后眼区相关淋巴组织对ND疫苗可产生良好的细胞免疫应答。免疫组结膜相关淋巴组织(CALT)和哈氏腺(HG)中CD4 T及CD8 T淋巴细胞数量于首免后迅速升高。免疫期间其百分比含量明显高于非免疫组,到40 日龄时,有恢复到正常值的趋势。     

用套式PCR方法对几种猪用冻干疫苗的PCV2检测

参照Genbank已发表的猪圆环病毒2型的基因序列,取其比较保守的基因片段ORF2,利用引物设计软件Oli-go5.0设计两对PCV2型特异的引物,其中第一对引物扩增跨度为ORF2全基因片段,长度为702 bp,第二对引物扩增ORF2中间的一个小片段,跨度大小为494 bp.首先用第一对引物扩增阳性DNA,阳性DNA的浓度从10-1稀释到10-11,然后以第一次PCR产物为模板,用第二对引物进行PCR,发现这种套式PCR的方法比用普通PCR灵敏度提高102倍.同这种套式PCR方法对广东省市场上出售的几种猪用弱毒疫苗进行猪圆环病毒2型检测,结果发现这几种疫苗全部为阴性,本实验说明目前广东市场上出售的弱毒疫苗在制作过程中没有受到PCV2的污染,解除了广大猪场主的顾虑.

Vaccination of cows with rough Escherichia coli mutants fails to protect against experimental intramammary bacterial challenge. Vaccine A, a heat-killed Re mutant of strain K12, (UB 1574), was administered as a single parenteral and local dose to 5 cows with 3 control animals and Vaccine B, a heat-killed mutant of O111:B4 (J5) was administered as three parenteral doses into 5 cows with 5 control animals. Following intramammary challenge with a smooth wild-type strain (P4), an acute, severe clinical mastitis developed in all 14 quarters (9 vaccine A and 5 vaccine B) of the vaccinated animals which was indistinguishable from that in the 11 quarters of the control animals. Following vaccine B there was an elevation in serum IgG1 and IgG2 antibody to the common core antigen of endotoxin which, in contrast to the control animals, showed a further increase after intramammary infection.     

几种鸡胚原代细胞的制备方法

在病毒分离、繁殖，中和试验及药物毒理试验中，细胞培养是经常被选用的技术。本文描述通过选择不同日龄的鸡胚，分别对皮肤上皮细胞、肝细胞和肾细胞进行了组织培养，确定了生长所需的培养液要求。认为１２日龄鸡胚适于皮肤上皮细胞的制备，１７～２０日龄鸡胚适合于肝细胞、肾细胞的制备，并确定了细胞生长的ｐＨ条件。     

中国板栗和朝鲜板栗引种越冬新技术

为了解决板栗南种北移时的关键一一栗苗越冬春成活问题,本文通过试验提出三种新技术:秋未对栗苗地上部分喷松香、喷波尔多液、穴面覆地膜。结果,越冬率均达95％以上。为板栗及其它树种的引种工作开辟了新途径。
