A 6‐week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value of dietary linoleic (18:2n‐6, LOA) and linolenic (18:3n‐3, LNA) acids for juvenile Litopenaeus vannamei by determining their effects on growth, survival and fatty acid composition of hepatopancreas and muscle tissue. Diets were formulated to contain 5% total lipid. A basal diet contained only palmitic and stearic acids, each at 2.5% of diet. Six diets contained one of three levels (0.25, 0.5 and 1%) of either LOA or LNA, and three diets had different ratios of LNA/LOA (1, 3, 9) at a combined inclusion level of 0.5% of diet. An additional diet contained 0.5% of a mixture of n‐3 highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA). The fatty acid profile of hepatopancreas and muscle of shrimp reflected the profile of the diets. HUFA of the n‐3 family showed higher nutritional value than LOA or LNA for juvenile L. vannamei by producing significantly (P < 0.05) higher final weight and weight gain. Neither LOA nor LNA, alone or in combination, improved growth significantly compared with shrimp fed the basal diet.Thus, dietary requirements for LOA and LNA were not demonstrated under these experimental conditions.  相似文献

The dietary requirement of the prawn Penaeus monodon for linoleic (LOA) and linolenic (LNA) fatty acids was examined in the absence of other long-chain polyunsaturated and highly unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA-20:2, 20:3, 22:2, 22:3 and HUFA-18:4, 20:4, 20:5, 22:4, 22:5, 22:6, respectively). Incremented dietary amounts of LOA (7, 14, 21, 28 and 35% of total fatty acids) and LNA (0, 7, 14, 21 and 28% of total fatty acids) were examined in a 5 × 5 factorial growth experiment lasting 50 days. An additional diet containing both PUFA and HUFA (cod-liver oil) was provided as a reference. The total lipid content (excluding sterols) of each of the 26 diets was maintained at 70 g kg−1 of dry diet. The fatty acid composition of the neutral lipid was manipulated by blending different plant oils and supplementing with purified free fatty acids to provide the desired fatty acid composition upon addition to the total diet. At the end of the 50-day growth experiment, the prawn digestive gland (DG) was quantitatively analysed for lipid and fatty acid content. Prawns fed the reference diet increased in weight (mean ± SEM) by 214 ± 6%. Growth was generally greater when combinations of LOA and LNA were used. The best growth (213 ± 17%) was obtained with the diet containing a fatty acid content of 14% LOA and 21% LNA. This growth was comparable to that of the reference diet. The digestibility of the total lipid in the diet was usually higher when both fatty acids were present. The lipid content of the DG was highest in prawns fed diets containing both LOA and LNA, similar to the growth response. The fatty acid composition of the prawn's DG lipid reflected the fatty acid composition of the diet. However, the maximum assimilation of LNA in the DG lipid (14.2% of DG lipid fatty acids) was about half that of LOA (32.5% of DG lipid fatty acids).  相似文献

Two fresh diets were tested on the biological performance of males and females of Octopus vulgaris under industrial rearing conditions in floating cages. The presence of females could potentially release paralarvae to the natural environment (‘integrated aquaculture’). Octopuses were fed on a single diet of bogue (aquaculture by‐product), and on a mixed diet (60–40% crab‐bogue), in two trials. In Trial 1 (918 ± 125 g), growth was higher in octopuses fed on the mixed diet (1.9–2.0%d?1) than in those fed on the bogue diet (1.8–1.9%d?1) irrespective of sex, and mortality was 3% regardless of sex and diet. In Trial 2 (1483 ± 269 g), growth was higher in males fed on the mixed diet (1.8%d?1) than in males fed on the bogue diet (1.4%d?1), both higher than females (1.1–1.3%d?1), and mortality was 22–28% regardless of sex and diet. Best biological performance in trial 1 was related to the lack of functional maturation in females, evidence by the low average gonadosomatic index (2.0–3.6%) in comparison with trial 2 (8.8–11.4%), regardless of diet. No correlations between final weight and sexual maturity indices were found, so the length of the rearing period to maximize biomass increment or to release paralarvae depends on functional maturation in females.  相似文献

Nannochloropsis oceanica can accumulate lipids and is a good source of polar lipids, which are emerging as new value-added compounds with high commercial value for the food, nutraceutical, and pharmaceutical industries. Some applications may limit the extraction solvents, such as food applications that require safe food-grade solvents, such as ethanol. However, the effect of using ethanol as an extraction solvent on the quality of the extracted polar lipidome, compared to other more traditional methods, is not yet well established. In this study, the polar lipid profile of N. oceanica extracts was obtained using different solvents, including chloroform/methanol (CM), dichloromethane/methanol (DM), dichloromethane/ethanol (DE), and ethanol (E), and evaluated by modern lipidomic methods using LC-MS/MS. Ultrasonic bath (E + USB)- and ultrasonic probe (E + USP)-assisted methodologies were implemented to increase the lipid extraction yields using ethanol. The polar lipid signature and antioxidant activity of DM, E + USB, and E + USP resemble conventional CM, demonstrating a similar extraction efficiency, while the DE and ethanol extracts were significantly different. Our results showed the impact of different extraction solvents in the polar lipid composition of the final extracts and demonstrated the feasibility of E + USB and E + USP as safe and food-grade sources of polar lipids, with the potential for high-added-value biotechnological applications.  相似文献

Today, marine natural products are considered one of the main sources of compounds for drug development. Starfish and sea cucumbers are potential sources of natural products of pharmaceutical interest. Among their metabolites, polar steroids, triterpene glycosides, and polar lipids have attracted a great deal of attention; however, studying these compounds by conventional methods is challenging. The application of modern MS-based approaches can help to obtain valuable information about such compounds. This review provides an up-to-date overview of MS-based applications for starfish and sea cucumber bioactive compounds analysis. While describing most characteristic features of MS-based approaches in the context of starfish and sea cucumber metabolites, including sample preparation and MS analysis steps, the present paper mainly focuses on the application of MS-based metabolic profiling of polar steroid compounds, triterpene glycosides, and lipids. The application of MS in metabolomics studies is also outlined.  相似文献

Arctic charr ( Salvelinus alpinus L.) were fed diets based on a commercial recipe supplemented with either linseed, soybean or marine oil prior to cohabitant challenge with Aeromonas salmonicida ssp. s almonicida . Mortality varied significantly between the three dietary groups. Highest mortality (48%) was observed in fish fed the marine oil and the lowest mortality (20%) was in the group fed soybean oil. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) examination of the digestive tract of uninfected fish demonstrated substantial numbers of bacterial cells between microvilli. However, only a few bacteria were recovered that were associated with the microvilli of infected fish. Immunocytochemical staining/labelling investigations using TEM and an immunogold method were performed on mid-gut segments of fish fed the marine oil diet and showed augmentation of goblet cells and the presence of A. salmonicida ssp. salmonicida in the gastrointestinal tract of diseased fish after challenge with the pathogen. It is suggested that the gastrointestinal tract could be an infection route of A. salmonicida ssp. salmonicida. The greater prevalence of goblet cells supports the suggestion that sloughing off mucus is a protective response against bacterial infections. These results make an important contribution to our understanding of how nutrition can affect the disease resistance of fish.  相似文献

从45~75岁妇女中,经体检选择24名高血糖、高血脂患者,随机分为4组,设4个处理:①对照(安慰剂);②150mgSDG/d;③300mgSDG/d;④450mgSDG/d,双盲试验8周,在食用前、试验第4周和第8周时,化验相关指标,统计分析判断疗效显著与否。结果表明,服用4周亚麻木脂素150mg/d,对降低中老年妇女高血糖(GLU)浓度有显著的效果;服用8周亚麻木脂素150mg/d,对降低中老年妇女总胆固醇(CHO)浓度有显著的作用,对甘油三酯TG浓度的影响没有显著的作用。从45~75岁妇女中经体检选择8名骨质疏松的患者进行试验,结果表明,服用亚麻木脂素6个月,对提高中老年妇女的骨密度没有显著作用。  相似文献

The tropical gar (Atractosteus tropicus) is an economically and socially important freshwater fish species from southeastern Mexico, with high aquaculture potential. This study determined the expression of acetyl‐CoA carboxylase (ACC1), fatty acid synthase (FAS), and carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1 (CPT1C) in several tissues of adult specimens, as well as in early ontogeny stages of tropical gar. Partial sequences of all genes were obtained for brain, liver, muscle, mesenteric adipose, kidney, testis, gill, and heart in males. Specific qPCR primers were used to compare the expression between tissues and also during larviculture, starting with embryos (0 days after hatching, [DAH]), and at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 DAH. Mesenteric adipose tissue, liver, and muscle showed maximum FAS, ACC1, and CPT1C expression. Additionally, the highest expression of lipogenic genes was detected in embryos (0 DAH), decreasing between 5 and 10 DAH, then increasing at 15 DAH, and ultimately decreasing again from 20 DAH onwards. Based on these results, it can be concluded that genes encoding ACC1, FAS, and CPT1C are expressed differentially across tissues of tropical gar adults, and are regulated during larval development.  相似文献
