The effect of porcine hydrolysed collagen on gastric ulcer scores,gastric juice pH,gastrin and amino acid concentrations in horses

Gastric ulcers are common in horses. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of porcine hydrolysed collagen (PHC) on gastric ulcer scores and gastric juice pH in horses. We hypothesise that PHC-administration will result in improved gastric lesion scores and act synergistically with omeprazole to improve treatment efficacy. Thoroughbred horses (n = 10) were studied in a 2-period, 2-treatment crossover design, where the PHC (45 g) was administered twice daily. Horses were treated for 56 days. Gastroscopy was performed and gastric juice pH measured on Days 0, 14, 28, 42, 49 and 56. Nonglandular gastric ulcer number (NGN) and severity (NGS) and glandular ulcer number (GN) and glandular severity (GS) scores were assigned by an investigator masked to treatment and serum gastrin and amino acid concentrations. By Day 42, 2 weeks after discontinuing omeprazole treatment, NGN and NGS scores returned to pretreatment values and serum gastrin was higher when compared to values measured on Day 28. By Day 49, after the feed-deprivation period, NGN and NGS were similar to pretreatment values. By Day 56, mean NGN score was significantly lower in PHC-treated horses, compared to controls. Mean gastric juice pH significantly increased in both groups on Day 28 and the pH was significantly (P = 0.0127) higher in the PHC-treated horses. Serum amino acid concentrations were not significantly different 2 h after feeding PHC and hydroxyproline was not detected. Serum gastrin concentration did not increase 2 h after feeding in the PHC-fed horses. The PHC fed to horses enhanced the effects of omeprazole on increased gastric juice pH, inhibited gastrin secretion after feeding and resulted in fewer nonglandular ulcers after long-term feeding (56 days) in stall-confined horses undergoing intermittent feeding.     

某大型造纸厂高效污水处理工程设计与运行

指出了随着当前造纸领域中水循环利用率不断提高,废水处理难度大、成本高及污泥处理困难,某大型造纸厂污水处理站仅采用预处理+EGSB+A/O的工艺方案处理该厂生产废水。经处理后出水CODcr、色度、BOD5、氨氮、总氮及总磷等指标均达到《制浆造纸工业水污染物排放标准》(GB3544-2008)表2规定的新建企业水污染物排放限值要求,同时达到表3水污染物特别排放限值的要求,水处理成本仅为127元/t,污泥处置方便,且有一定经济效益,对于我国造纸污水的处理具有较高的应用推广价值。     

Cost minimization through the use of taungya system in pulpwood plantation establishment

The costs and benefits of the use of three labour alternatives: direct permanent, direct casual and taungya labour in Gmelina arborea pulpwood plantation establishment in Nigeria were investigated. Results show that cost per hectare is lowest with taungya labour and highest with permanent labour with savings in cost of as much as 30% and 47% by taungya labour over casual and permanent labour respectively. The net present value per hectare of investment is highest when taungya labour is used and lowest and negative with permanent labour. Also, the internal rate of return of investment is highest with taungya labour and lowest with permanent labour. The net present values and internal rates of return for Gmelina plantations calculated for the three pulp and paper mills in Nigeria show the same trend in favour of taungya labour.     

Gastric dilation and air sacculitis in farmed chinook salmon, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha (Walbaum)

A syndrome affecting cultured chinook salmon, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha (Walbaum), characterized by distended abdomens, gastric dilation, air sacculitis (GDAS), increased feed conversion rates and increased mortality has been recognized in New Zealand. Affected fish were most obvious in sea cages but were also present in fresh water. Mortality rates associated with this condition were highest in late summer and approached 6% per month. A dilated and flaccid stomach, without visible rugal folds containing copious oil, watery fluid or undigested feed was typical. Gastric mucosal ulceration or inflammation were not present. The air sacculitis consisted of a thickened, dilated bladder with a mixed mucosal inflammatory infiltrate and a luminal exudate associated with large numbers of morphologically diverse bacteria. Gastric dilation or air sacculitis occurred alone or together in the same fish. In a group of 20 subclinically affected fish with or without gastric dilation, there were no significant differences in weight, length, serum osmolality, sodium, total protein or packed cell volume. Twenty-three severely affected fish had significantly ( P  < 0.05) higher serum osmolality but similar sodium and total protein to that of clinically normal fish.

林芝松口蘑抗肿瘤组分的筛选

为筛选林芝松口蘑(Tricholoma matsutake)子实体中具抗肿瘤作用的组分,采用MTT法测定林芝松口蘑乙醇提取物的不同有机溶剂萃取分部对乳腺癌细胞(MCF-7)、胃癌细胞(SGC-7901)和肺癌细胞(A549)的体外抑制率。结果表明:林芝松口蘑乙醇提取物的抑癌活性物质主要集中在氯仿分部,100μg/mL作用48h,对MCF-7和SGC-7901的抑制率分别达到了64%和55%;乙醇提取物的各萃取分部对A549抑制效果较差,在实验浓度范围内抑制率均未超过25%。
