The recent increase in the Atlantic coast population of striped bass, Morone saxatilis (Walbaum), prompted managers to re‐evaluate their predatory impact. Published and unpublished diet data for striped bass on the Atlantic Coast of North America were examined for geographical, ontogenetic and seasonal patterns in the diet and to assess diet for this species. Diets of young‐of‐the‐year (YOY) striped bass were similar across the Upper Atlantic (UPATL), Chesapeake and Delaware Bays (CBDEL) and North Carolina (NCARO) areas of the Atlantic coast where either fish or mysid shrimp dominate the diet. For age one and older striped bass, cluster analysis partitioned diets based on predominance of either Atlantic menhaden, Brevoortia tyrannus (Latrobe), characteristic of striped bass from the CBDEL and NCARO regions, or non‐menhaden fishes or invertebrates, characteristic of fish from the UPATL, in the diet. The predominance of invertebrates in the diets of striped bass in the UPATL region can be attributed to the absence of several important species groups in Northern waters, particularly sciaenid fishes, and to the sporadic occurrences of Atlantic menhaden to UPATL waters. In all regions, across most seasons and in most size classes of striped bass, the clupeiod fishes; menhaden, anchovies (Anchoa spp.) and river herrings (Alosa spp,) and Atlantic herring, Clupea harengus L., dominated the diets of striped bass above the first year of life.  相似文献

为探讨饲料蛋白质水平与投喂频率对罗非鱼生长及生理健康的影响,采用2×3双因子实验,研究饲料蛋白质水平(36.27%和26.02%)与投喂频率(1、2和3次/d)对吉富罗非鱼幼鱼生长、体成分、血清指标和肝胰脏结构的影响。养殖周期为42 d,结果表明:随饲料蛋白质水平的增加,实验鱼的末体质量(FW)、增重率(WGR)、特定生长率(SGR)、饲料效率(FE)、肥满度(CF)、去内脏全鱼灰分(EWA)、内脏水分(VM)、高密度脂蛋白胆固醇(HDLC)水平显著升高(P0.05),而摄食率(FI)、脏体比(VSI)、饲料成本(FC)、去内脏全鱼粗脂肪(EWF)、内脏粗脂肪(VF)、肝胰脏粗脂肪(HF)显著降低(P0.05);随投喂频率的增加,实验鱼的FW、WGR、SGR、肝体比(HSI)、CF、FC、EWF、VF、HF,血清中的总胆固醇水平(TCHO)、HDLC、低密度脂蛋白胆固醇(LDLC)、总蛋白(TP)、甘油三酯(TGK)水平显著升高(P0.05),而FE、蛋白质效率(PER)、去内脏全鱼水分(EWM)、EWA、VM、肝胰脏水分(HM)显著降低(P0.05)。饲料蛋白质水平和投喂频率对实验鱼的FW、WGR、SGR、VM和HDLC的交互作用显著(P0.05)。投喂26.02%蛋白质水平饲料的实验鱼,肝胰脏细胞肿大变形,呈现透明的空泡化,出现细胞核偏移;而投喂36.27%蛋白质饲料的实验鱼,大多数肝细胞胞浆清晰,可观察到的肝细胞空泡面积较小。综合考虑,饲料蛋白质含量为36.27%是适合吉富罗非鱼幼鱼的,其适宜的投喂频率为2次/d以上,可根据罗非鱼市场情况进行调节。  相似文献

A 120‐day feeding trial was conducted to examine the effects of the ratio of dietary linoleic acid (LA, 18:2n‐6) to eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n‐3) on the growth and fatty acid composition of juvenile Haliotis discus hannai (initial shell length 10.23 ± 1.48 mm; initial body weight 0.13 ± 0.05 g) in a recirculation water system. Five semipurified diets with 35 g kg?1 total lipid were formulated to contain graded LA/EPA ratios (1 : 0, 0.75 : 0.25, 0.5 : 0.5, 0.25 : 0.75, and 0 : 1, respectively). Twenty‐five juveniles were stocked in a rearing unit, a plastic basket (20 × 20 × 10 cm), as a replicate, and there were three replicates for each dietary treatment. The results showed that abalone survival rates were generally high (90.1–98.3%) and independent of the dietary treatments. However, abalone growth was significantly affected by LA/EPA ratio (P < 0.05). The LA/EPA ratio of 0.25 : 0.75 (Diet 4) produced the highest weight gain rate (WGR, 416.3%), closely followed by the ratio of 0 : 1 (Diet 5, 412.9%), the ratio of 0.5 : 0.5 (Diet 3, 399.7%) and the ratio of 0.75 : 0.25 (Diet 2, 372.1%), but no significant differences were observed among these treatments. The abalone fed the diet without 20:5n‐3 (Diet 1) had the lowest WGR (Diet 1, 363.8%), which was significantly lower than that of Diet 4. Fatty acid profiles in abalone body reflected those of dietary lipids, especially for the polyunsaturated fatty acids. The contents of arachidonic acid (AA; 20:4n‐6) in abalone tissues were positively correlated with dietary level of 18:2n‐6 (P < 0.05). Similar correlation was also observed between the level of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n‐3) in abalone tissues and the level of dietary EPA. It is suggested that abalone, H. discus hannai, have the capacity to synthesize 20:4n‐6 from 18:2n‐6, and maybe 22:6n‐3 from 20:5n‐3.  相似文献

Pepsin stored in the stomach mucosa of the Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) increases within two days of the onset of starvation. Trypsin and chymotrypsin in the pyloric caeca/pancreas behave similarly, indicating that when no food is present in the gut, digestive enzymes accumulate in the secretory tissues. As a corollary, trypsin and chymotrypsin activities in the gut contents fell during starvation, indicating that secretion is greatly reduced when food is not present. At the onset of feeding, pepsin is rapidly synthesised in the mucosal tissues and then secreted. Twenty four hours after feeding, the pepsin levels of the mucosa are still low, suggesting that synthesis may be a rapid response to the presence of food in the stomach. Secretion of trypsin and chymotrypsin appears to take place as soon as digesta enters the intestine, between 4 and 14h after feeding, and resynthesis of enzyme precursors appears to be complete again within a further 11h. It is suggested that both synthesis and release may be under the control of cholecystokinin.  相似文献

The inclusion in feed formulations of ingredients that act as attractants and feeding incitants or stimulants has been proposed as a means of increasing feed consumption, and hence growth, of farmed shrimp. Squid, crustacean and krill meals, fish and krill hydrolysates and a betaine product (Finnstim) were examined to assess their relative effectiveness in increasing the feed intake of black tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon. These presumed feeding effectors were added to a base feed at between 5 and 50 g kg?1. Given a choice between the base feed and one containing one of the test ingredients, P. monodon showed a significantly greater preference for the feeds containing crustacean or krill meal. Four of the presumed feeding effectors were further evaluated in a growth response experiment. There was no significant difference in the amount the shrimp consumed of any of the feeds. However, the growth rate of the shrimp was about 20% faster on the feeds containing crustacean meal or krill meal. Although ingredients such as crustacean meal or krill meal can improve feed intake, in practical feed formulations that contain significant amounts of terrestrial protein but relatively low levels of marine ingredients, there does not appear to be need for additional feeding effectors. However, crustacean meal and krill meal do provide a significant nutritional benefit, as seen by the improved growth rates in this study.  相似文献

Babylonia formosae habei is a commercially important marine gastropod species. Food particles ingested by the planktotrophic larvae of B. formosae habei can be critical in maximizing the larval growth and survival of this species. In this study, feeding rate responses of B. formosae habei larvae on cultured algae were observed using a Coulter multisizer. Variations were recorded based on the changes of different factors of influence, including varied larval stoking density, varied types of algae, varied algae concentrations and selective feeding on mixed algae cells of different types. Results of this study reveal some facts on the feeding of B. formosae habei larvae: larval stoking density has negative effect on their feeding rates; larva has a higher feeding rate on big‐sized algae than small‐sized algae; larva has a higher feeding rate on diatom than green algae and flagellate; feeding rate of larvae increased when fed mixed algae cells. Optimal algal concentration of the cultured algae Chlorella sp., Chaetoceros muelleri, Isochrysis zhanjiangensis and Dunaliella tertiolecta was suggested at 20 × 104, 5 × 104, 20 × 104 and 10 × 104 cells mL?1 respectively. Results of the preset study can be important in understanding feeding ecology of B. formosae habei larvae, and applicable for the aquaculture of this species.  相似文献

对红锥博白、浦北、东兰3个种源苗高和地径生长率2年生苗木生长节律进行了研究。结果表明:3个种源Logistic方程拟合效果都显著,均呈"S"型生长模式。采用有序样本聚类分析方法将苗木的生长过程划分为4个时期:生长初期、速生前期、速生期、生长后期。方差分析及多重比较结果表明,3个种源苗木生长量存在显著差异,博白种源和浦北种源较好,东兰种源次之。  相似文献

依据普达措国家公园内旅游活动形式的不同分别在公园的步道、观光公路以及不受旅游干扰的村庄进行调查研究。通过在不同的时段内记录鸟的种类、数量、取食距离及对应的客流量和车流量,分析旅游干扰与鸟类多样性及鸟类取食距离之间的关系。研究结果显示:干扰程度不同的3种生境下鸟类多样性也不同,最高为村庄,观光公路次之,旅游步道的鸟类多样性最低;客流量对鸟类多样性的影响很大,而车流量对鸟类多样性的影响较微弱;客流量与鸟类取食距离之间的关系因鸟种的不同而异,对鹬类及白鹡鸰(Motacilla alba)的取食距离的影响大于鸦科鸟类和游禽类。通过不同旅游干扰对鸟类多样性及取食距离的研究,为普达措国家公园的经营和管理提供参考。  相似文献

1999— 2 0 0 2年夏季对江苏盐城黑嘴鸥繁殖期不同阶段行为时间分配及活动规律进行了定量研究。结果表明 :繁殖前期黑嘴鸥各种行为具有较强的规律性 ,其出现频率依次为 :取食 39 36 % ,休整 37 95 % ,运动 9 4 8% ,警戒 8 30 % ,饮水 5 0 3% ;繁殖后期黑嘴鸥成鸟的各种行为不具明显的规律性 ,其出现的频率依次为取食 4 2 5 3% ,休整 1 4 2 1 % ,运动 1 7 6 5 % ,警戒 1 4 5 2 % ,饮水 1 0 93%。繁殖后期运动和警戒行为所花费的时间比繁殖前期显著增加 (P <0 0 0 1 ) ,休整行为显著减少 (P <0 0 0 1 ) ,导致这种差异性主要是取食地点的变化和后期的育雏行为。黑嘴鸥雌雄抱孵时间比为 1 2 4∶1。抱孵时间随孵化天数的增加而相应延长 ,一次抱孵时间最长可达到 2 0 1min。  相似文献
