Treatment of equine intestinal constipation with integrated traditional Chinese and western veterinary medicine

In April 2011, horses at Nanjing Racecourse were accidentally overdosed with ivermectin deworming powder, mixed into the feed. After 3 days of medication, most of the horses ate feed only and reduced their hay intake significantly. On Days 5–6, 3 Mestizo horses showed discomfort, no appetite, sweating, abdominal enlargement, restlessness, whinnying, pawing the ground and no defaecation. Of the other horses, 4 showed abnormal sweating. Toxic atony of the large intestine was diagnosed. During the initial treatment process, only glucose saline injection was used to strengthen cardiac function and sustain the balance of body fluid. It was given in an enema with liquid paraffin, or drenched with magnesium sulfate and liquid paraffin. However, these treatments failed to cure the horses. One of the most seriously affected horses died the next morning. Then, analgin was injected i.m. and vitamin B₁ was injected immediately into bilateral Guanyuanshu acupoints. At the same time, a decoction of Costus root‐Areca reed‐Rhubarb‐Mirabilite powder (CARMP) was given by gavage immediately. Liquorice root was decocted and then the decoction was fed mixed into the feed, at the dosage of 200–300 g per horse, s.i.d., for 3–5 days. One horse died before the integrated treatment but all others horses recovered. Two additional cases were cured with similar treatment.

鸡大肠杆菌病是由埃希氏大肠杆菌引起,以心包炎、肝周炎、气囊炎、腹膜炎、输卵管炎、滑膜炎等主要病变。目前鸡大肠杆菌病的流行日趋复杂化,防控难度加大,发病率和死亡率均较高,给养鸡业带来严重经济损失。抗生素在一定程度上能够起到较好的治疗效果,但是由于长时间不规范的应用,致使大肠杆菌的耐药菌株不断出现,疗效越来越不明显。中兽药由于无抗药性,在防治鸡大肠杆菌病中已取得显著效果。

通过126例青海高原牦牛瘤胃积食的诊治,分析了牦牛瘤胃积食的病因,总结了牦牛瘤胃积食临床症状,介绍了中西医结合治疗的方法以及预防措施.     

Characterization of bacteriocin produced by Streptococcus bovis J2 40-2 isolated from traditional fermented milk 'Dahi'

A bacteriocin-producing strain Streptococcus bovis J2 40-2 was isolated from traditional fermented milk 'Dahi' in Bangladesh. Despite its narrow antimicrobial spectrum, it showed strong antimicrobial activity against extremely challenging and problematic organisms in foods, such as Listeria monocytogenes . Bacteriocin was sensitive to several proteolytic enzymes and showed antimicrobial activity over a wide pH range of 2.0–10.0. It was stable when heated to 110°C for 20 min, but lost 25% of its activity when heated to 121°C for 15 or 20 min. Optimum bacteriocin production (5600 AU/mL) was achieved when the strain was cultured at 37°C for 24 h in MRS medium rather than in TYLG, GM17, or skim milk medium. Bacteriocin was partially purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation (80% saturation), dialysis (cut-off MW: 3500) and gel filtration chromatography. Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis revealed that bacteriocin had a molecular weight of approximately 4.5 kDa.     

An Elastic Theory Approach and Parametric Analysis of Pile Group in Layered Soils

Based on the technique proposed by Muki & Sternberg, a rigorous analytical method for calculating the interaction factor between two piles with different lengths, diameters and properties is presented. The pile group in layered soils is calculated by using the principle of superposition. The validity of the presented method has been verified through comparing with those from other existing solutions. A parametric analysis is made to study the pile group settlement and the loads shared by the individual pile. The proposed interaction factors of pile-pile can consider the strengthening effect of intervening piles. The proposed method can be used to analyze the large pile group.     

Traditional mineral resource visualized dynamic estimation and its application in 3D geological space

A new method for traditional mineral resource visualized dynamic estimation in 3D geological space is proposed, which is adaptive to the characteristics of resource exploitation and reserve classification in China. The method follows the daily workflow of mine exploitation, improves the traditional method for resource estimation by 3D visualization technologies, and replaces abstract regular geometries with real 3D geological models. Thus, the traditional method for resource estimation realizes visualization in the whole workflow of mine exploitation. The application results to some real mines show the estimation results are mainly affected by the spatial location, shape and thickness of mineral blocks and goaf. If the resource dynamic estimation is carried out by constructing 3D mineral models in consistent with real exploitation project, the accuracy of the traditional method can be effectively improved.

中药复方制剂“清瘟解毒散”对鸽新城疫的治疗试验

以苍术、厚朴、山楂等八味中药组方,对江苏省某规模化肉鸽场发病感染鸽新城疫的肉鸽进行治疗试验尝试。结果显示,对比治疗试验和大群治疗试验的同时,试验组和药物对照组对病情均有较好的缓解,试验组要优于药物对照组。中药组方"清瘟解毒散"对鸽新城疫有较好的治疗效果。     

树鼩催乳饲料中草药添加效果研究

中药添加剂对树鼩催乳效果的研究结果表明,基础日粮+配方Ⅰ处理泌乳量显著高于基础日粮处理(P0.05),仔树鼩的体重和成活率最高。

中药对动物免疫功能具有多方面的影响。近年来 ,有关中药提高动物免疫的机理研究取得可喜的进展。许多研究结果显示 ,中药可促进免疫器官的发育 ,提高机体的免疫力 ,并通过激活单核 巨噬细胞和天然杀伤细胞、促进T淋巴细胞和B淋巴细胞的增殖、分化和免疫球蛋白的产生 ,增强机体的抗病力 ;中药的活性成分有降低肿瘤细胞端粒酶活性的作用 ,表明中药在肿瘤防治方面具有一定潜力。了解中药的免疫机理 ,可从中药中发现更为理想的免疫调节剂和抗肿瘤药物 ,用于动物免疫性疾病和肿瘤等的防治 ,推动中医药的发展
