Interspecific hybrids of Cyclamen persicum and C. graecum   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

Summary Interspecific crosses were made to introduce the disease resistance of Cyclamen graecum into C. persicum cultivars and the abortive hybrid embryos were rescued by ovule culture. Diploid and tetraploid cultivars of C. persicum (CPD, 2n=2x=48; CPT, 2n=4x=96) were the pistillate parents and wild form of C. graecum (CG, 2n=84) were the staminate parents. After pollination, crossed ovaries were periodically collected and examined using paraffin sections. Histological observations suggested that both hybrid ovules of CPD × CG and CPT × CG should be transferred to the culture medium 35 days after pollination. Based upon this observation, crossed ovaries were collected 35 days after pollination, then ovules with placenta were explanted on culture medium and cultured in the dark at 25°C. Plantlets were induced from ovules cultured in MS medium containing 3% sucrose and 10% coconut milk. The hybrids (2n=66) derived from CPD × CG failed to yield viable seeds by self-pollination, although they showed some pollen fertility. In contrast, the hybrids (2n=90) derived from CPT × CG showed high pollen fertility and yielded viable seeds by self-pollination. Furthermore, they were resistant to disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cyclaminis, Erwinia herbicola pv. cyclamenae and Pseudomonas marginalis pv. marginalis.Abbreviations CPD C. persicum diploid - CPT C. persicum tetraploid - CG C. graecum  相似文献

Summary F1 progeny from three classes of crosses were studied for indications of incongruity in the form of reproductive dysfunction. Percent fruit set was found to be approximately equivalent to the additive inverse of percent aborted flowers, as the effect of shot berries was small and not significant. In interspecific crosses, barriers were manifested as reduced fruit set and seed number per berry. These two characters were used to create an index of reproductive efficiency. Nine F1s from crosses of most divergent class, V. riparia × V. vinifera (R × V), displayed significantly tower reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set, and seed number per berry. Four female F1s from the least divergent class, V. riparia × V. riparia (R × R), had the highest reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set and seed number per berry, when pollinated by two V. riparia pollen sources. Seventeen F1s from the highly-intercrossed class, V. riparia × French Hybrid (R × FH), displayed intermediate levels of reproductive efficiency, percent fruit set, and seed number per berry. The R × FH class involved V. vinifera, V. rupestris, V. aestivalis, V. labrusca, V. berlandieri, V. cinerea, and V. riparia. It is proposed that the complex intercrossing in the pedigrees of the R × FH class ameliorated incongruity. In the most divergent class, R × V, progenies of one of the V. riparia parents displayed fewer incongruity effects than progenies of the other V. riparia parents. Summary Meiotic observations in PMCs were made in eight kinds of interspecific hybrids in Lilium. Three hybrids, 6134-S × L. cernuum. L. regale × L. leichtlinii maximowiczii and L. auratum platyphyllum × L. henryi showed respectively the mean chromosome association frequencies of 1.4II, 0.8II and 1.5II per cell at MI which were the lowest values hitherto reported in Lilium hybrids. In L. longiflorum × L. henryi, 33.3° of the cells had 1 or 2 multivalents of three to five chromosomes in addition to uni- and bivalents. 12° bivalents and 12 univalents were invariably observed in the triploid hybrid L. longiflorum × L. cernuum. The hybrids between the species belonging to the different sections of the genus generally showed high pollen sterility, with some exceptions. A more or less remote genomic homology was found between the different sections in Lilium.  相似文献

Summary Six interspecific/intergeneric F2 populations involving two cultivars of C. cajan and five Atylosia species were scored for segregation patterns for pod length and ovule number. It was observed that for both characters the F2 means and the ranges were correspondingly lower than the midparent values and the spread of the two parents. However, the intrageneric cross of A. lineata and A. scarabaeoides showed transgressive segregation for pod length and the F2 mean and range were correspondingly larger than the midparent value and spread of the two parents, suggesting the usefulness of combining ability test for choice of suitable parents.  相似文献

Summary Male meiosis of the interspecific hybrid between Allium roylei and A. cepa is undisturbed relative to its parents. Based on meiotic data, A. roylei is concluded to be a closer relative of A. cepa than A. fistulosum. Segregation ratios for downy mildew resistance among BC1 and F2 progenies from the F1 between A. roylei and A. cepa indicate the presence of two dominantly inherited, weakly linked nuclear resistance genes, Pd 1 and Pd 2, in A. roylei (recombination frequency 0.32±0.03). Presumably Pd 1 and Pd 2are the first genes described in Allium residing in one linkage group. The prospects of exploiting A. roylei in onion breeding seem very promising.  相似文献

Summary Crossability and cytology were examined in F1, F2, B1 and hybridsplants of F1 hybrids of Brassica campestris and three wild relatives of B. oleracea, B. bourgeaui, B. cretica and B. montana, respectively. The F2 plants were obtained after self-and open pollination of the F1 hybrids. The B1 and hybrid plants were produced after the F1 hybrids backcrosses with B. campestris and crossed with B. napus, respectively. After crossing the F1 hybrids, many seeds of the F2, B1 and hybrid plants were harvested. Multivalent formation was high in the chromsome configuration for the PMCs of F2, B1 and hybrid plants, suggesting that crossing over might occur between them. Many different types of aneuploids were obtained in the progenies of the F2, B1 and hybrid plants. It is suggested that different types of normal egg cells may be produced by one-by-one or little-by-little chromosome addition. The possibility is discussed of gene transfer from B. bourgeaui, B. cretica and B. montana, to cultivated plants, B. campestris and B. napus.  相似文献

Summary Successful widespread use of a forage or biomass plant depends largely on its ease of establishment. Elephantgrass (Pennisetum purpureum Schum.) is used for both forage and biomass production, due to its high dry matter production, aggressiveness, perenniality, and forage quality. However, lack of high quality seed has limited the use of elephantgrass and its hybrids to pearl millet (P. glaucum L. R.Br.). Development of a seed-propagated pearl millet x elephantgrass hexaploid cultivar, which would combine desirable characteristics from both of these species, would be highly desirable. The objectives of this study were to characterize morphological and seed-related traits from the selfed progeny of seven hexaploid hybrids, and to determine whether seed size had any influence on these traits. Traits studied included number of tillers, height, leaf length and width, panicles per plant, days to flowering, panicle length, seed set, seed production, and weight of 100 seeds. Genetic differences were found among the progeny of the seven hybrids. Differences were also found between plants derived from large- and small-seed lots within families. Plants descended from larger seed had better growth and seed-related characteristics, which resulted in more desirable plants. These hexaploid hybrids showed potential for direct seeding into the field for biomass or forage production.  相似文献

An interspecific hybrid involving Pennisetum americanum (2 n = 14) and a diploid cytotype of P. orientale (2 n = 18) was backcrossed to P. americanum using the hybrid (2 n = 16, 7‘A’+ 9 ‘O’) as the female parent. Pollen mother cells of 13 BC1 plants contained a complement of 14‘A’+ 9 ‘O’ chromosomes. Five BC2 plants obtained through further backcrossing to P. americanum had 21‘A’+ 9 ‘O’ chromosomes revealing another addition of the P. americanum genome. The role of such recurrent additions of parental genomes in the evolution of polyploid species has been discussed.  相似文献

Summary The somatic karyotype and meiotic chromosome behavior were studied in an 18-chromosome B1 plant derived from backcrossing a triploid (Brassica napus x B. oleracea ssp. capitata) F1 hybrid to cabbage. It is considered that cabbage chromosomes no. 1 and no. 7 were substituted by two shorter B. napus chromosomes. Meiotic disturbances were more apparent during the late stages of second division. Seed fertility of this plant was largely restored in the second backcrosses with both cabbage and broccoli. 18-chromosome B2 plants resistant to race 2 of Plasmodiophora brassicae were recovered among the progenies.Contribution no.
