The effects of N and Ca nutrition on plant growth and shoot elemental content of Petunia × hybrida Hort. Vilm. - Andr. ‘Coral Sea’ were evaluated. Nitrogen and Ca were applied separately or in combination in three experiments: (1) N at 0, 100, 200 or 400 mg l?1; (2) Ca at 0, 75, 150 or 300 mg l?1; (3) N at 0 or 100 mg l?1 and Ca at 0 or 150 mg l?1 combined factorially. Shoot and root dry weights, branch length and flower number were highest when plants received 100 mg l?1 N. Plants treated with 150 mg l?1 Ca had the highest shoot and root dry weights. Branch length was maximal at 300 mg l?1 Ca.Nitrogen and Ca interacted to increase shoot dry weights, branch number and length, leaf area and flower number. Increasing N concentrations increased N and decreased P, Mn and Zn shoot contents. Calcium content of shoots increased while N, P and Mg decreased in response to increasing applications of Ca to petunia plants. Minimal N and Ca tissue concentrations for optimal P. × hybrida growth were 3.3 and 0.67%, respectively.  相似文献

Al-Eknah, M.M., Homeida, A.M., Dafalla, E.A., Galil, A.K.A. and Al-Tahir, A.Y., 1997. Uterine activity after induction of hypocalcaemia in the ovariectomized camel (Camelus dromedarius). Veterinary Research Communications, 21 (1), 45-50.Bilateral ovariectomy was performed in three parous, non-pregnant camels. Intrauterine and intra-abdominal pressure changes were recorded using balloon-tipped catheters. Uterine contractions were induced and maintained in the ovariectomized camels by daily intramuscular injections of 5 mg oestradiol benzoate throughout the experimental period. The frequency of uterine contractions varied from 6 to 9 per minute, whereas the amplitude varied from 2 to 3 kPa in all the animals. Inducing hypocalcaemia to a level of 0.5 mmol/L by Na2EDTA reduced the amplitude of the contractions to below 1 kPa (p<0.001). The frequency of the contractions was not affected.  相似文献

通过使用不同的培养基,采用液体培养法研究了蔗糖、硼酸和钙离子对二乔木兰花粉萌发的影响。将所用花粉分为两组,组1于8:00采集,组2于16:00采集,结果表明:一定浓度的蔗糖、硼酸和钙离子对花粉的萌发有较大的促进作用,但超过一定浓度时则起抑制作用,二乔木兰花粉萌发的最适培养基为30 g·L~-1蔗糖 100mg·L~-1硼酸 500 mg·L~-1Ca~2 ,在该培养基内,组1花粉的萌发率为46.21%±1.86%,花粉管长度为1156.25Um;组2花粉的萌发率仅为14.22%±1.86%,花粉管长度为1022um。此外,在其离体萌发过程中,二乔木兰花粉存在花粉管双萌发的现象。用不同的花粉保存方法保存二乔木兰花粉后,发现干燥处理后于-18℃下保存的花粉活性最高,30d后仍有6.92%±0.75%的萌发率,而于常温25℃下保存的花粉10d后就基本失活,说明低温干燥保存是保存二乔木兰花粉活性的有效途径。  相似文献

Models for cycles for organic matter and nutrients element (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) are presented for the agroforestry systems of cacao (Theobroma cacao) withCordia alliodora orErythrina poeppigiana in Turrialba, Costa Rica.For the models, system reserves (soil, humus, vegetation divided into leaves, branches, stems, fine roots, fruits) and transference between compartments (production and decomposition of litter residues) inputs (fertilizer, rainfall) and outputs (harvests) of the system are considered.The implications of the models are discussed in detail.Aspects of net primary production in the systems studied are considered.N fixation is calculated on the basis of balances. Bovine babesiosis is a livestock disease known to cause economic losses in endemic areas. The apicomplexan parasite Babesia bovis is able to invade and destroy the host’s erythrocytes leading to the serious pathologies of the disease, such as anemia and hemoglobinuria. Understanding the egress mechanisms of this parasite is therefore a key step to develop new therapeutic strategies. In this study, the possible involvement of Ca2+ in the egress of B. bovis merozoites from infected erythrocytes was investigated. Egress was artificially induced in vitro using calcium ionophore A23187 and thapsigargin to increase Ca2+ concentration in the cytosol of the parasite cells. The increased intracellular Ca2+ concentration following these treatments was confirmed using live cell Ca2+ imaging with confocal laser scanning microscopy. Based on our findings, we suggest a Ca2+ signalling pathway in the egress of B. bovis merozoites.  相似文献

By labelling with gold-colloid-conjugated wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), the WGA-binding sites were identified in the apical region of certain mitochondria-rich (MR) cells in gills of freshwater-adapted tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus). Bromo-deoxyuridine (BrdU) injection was used to discern the differentiation of the WGA binding sites during development of MR cells. Double labeling of gill sections of fish 2, 4, 6, and 8 days after a single BrdU injection showed that the BrdU labeled MR cells 2 and 4 days after injection were mostly WGA negative, whereas 6 and 8 days after injection, WGA and BrdU-labeled MR cell increased gradually in number. Furthermore, the ratio of the WGA-positive to total MR-cells was higher in gills of tilapia adapted to low calcium ([Ca] = 0.015 mm) freshwater than in hard freshwater ([Ca] = 1.898 mm). The results indicate that WGA binding site may be a marker expressed late during differentiation of MR cells, and physiologically functional in assisting uptake of calcium when environmental calcium is low. According to their WGA binding and also characteristics their likely function in calcium absorption, the WGA positive MR cells shown in this study are considered to be similar to the cells described by Pisam et al. Juvenile rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, were injected with estradiol-17β (E2) in order to study the source of extra calcium needed during vitellogenesis. E2-treatment increased the calcium uptake from the external medium as well as calcium mobilization from muscle and scale. Judged by the increase in plasma protein-bound calcium levels, the E2-induced increase in calcium uptake is an apparent over-mobilization of calcium, i.e., the calcium uptake of the fish is in excess of what is found bound to plasma proteins. As the calcium excretion and calcium space (calculated from free plasma calcium levels) were unaffected, the excess calcium is suggested to be incorporated into internal calcium stores. This implies that the systems regulating vitellogenesis and calcium balance are integrated on the mechanistic or endocrine level, and that E2 causes calcium mobilization of a magnitude geared to the needs of the sexually maturing female.  相似文献

为了确定不同年龄段塔里木马鹿鹿茸的最佳收茸时间,保证鹿茸的药用价值,试验选取老、中、青3个年龄段的塔里木马鹿各6头,采用火焰原子吸收分光光度法,分别测定不同生茸时期鹿茸中Ca2+的含量。结果表明:青年组至6月17日鹿茸上段Ca2+含量增加显著,确定其最佳收茸时间以6月17日为宜;中年、老年组的最佳收茸时期在6月3日左右,三者存在时间差异。  相似文献

The stress response of grass carp to salinity was evaluated assessing the levels of hematocrit, leucocrit, plasma glucose, sodium, potassium and calcium. Mean hematocrit values increased following exposure to salinity. Mean leucocrit values elevated after exposure to salinity for 24 h, then decreased. Mean plasma glucose increased during saline exposure for 48 h and then decreased to normal values. Plasma sodium and chloride levels were increased to their highest values after 48 h. While plasma potassium value increased with the exposure time, plasma calcium values were not affected by salinity exposure.  相似文献
